This is the book we wish we'd been given when we hit our twenties. It's not about perfection; it's a realistic guide to finding love for yourself in your day-to-day, inspired by the incredible experts we've met and the lessons they've taught us.'
When you hit your twenties and thirties, there's no blueprint for taking care of yourself while balancing all the things life throws at you. How do we become body confident in a world that focuses on our flaws? What's the secret to forging connections at work and at home while maintaining healthy boundaries? And how do we avoid falling prey to the anxieties and shame triggers that prevent us from experiencing joy? Add to that worrying about money and the bigger picture of our lives and it really can feel like too much.
Laura Henshaw and Steph Claire Smith are best friends and creators of the massive health and lifestyle brand Keep It Cleaner. You Take Care is their way of sharing their journeys with you - everything they've learnt about taking care of their mental health, bodies, and relationships with those around them, including thoughts on motherhood and a search for progress over perfection. No two journeys are the same, and there will always be bumps along the way. But this uplifting and friendly guide is like having a best friend in your pocket, cheering you on through it all.
Two influencers cashing in via another avenue lol.

- edited to add that I originally gave up after chapter four but then I felt bad so I skipped to the start of each chapter for a listen and pleased to report first instincts were correct
If you’re a fan of the podcast, there’s nothing further to gain here. I also found the audiobook difficult because when you’re used to influencers talking casually on a podcast, the ‘reading’ tone feels disingenuous and a bit condescending
Loved the style of writing and the messaging; easy and enjoyable to read. Nothing groundbreaking though - fans of the podcast would have heard it all before. A repackaging of the same ideas, but it’s no less heartwarming the second time round.
I really like the authors podcast and follow them both on social media as I really enjoy their content. This book however is something I haven’t enjoyed or liked at all, it’s very basic, not engaging and I found it hard to finish.
I’m not a religious person but I have found my bible. Many pages have been dog-eared and highlighted to return to whenever I need that little bit of encouragement or advice.
This was a lovely self help book. It was an easy read and had some good bits of wisdoms throughout. It reminded me of things I had forgotten about myself and for that I am glad I read it!
A 225 page advertisement for the girls' KIC app, disguised as an astoundingly basic and shallow attempt at covering extremely well known and discussed self development concepts.
2.5 stars. Didn’t think this book was groundbreaking and got so sick of the shameless KIC plugs…but did enjoy bits of it from the second half of it onwards
Not my favourite in the ‘self help’ world. I found this one a little too #girlboss for my liking. Also WAY too many pregnancy chapters which I wasn’t expecting. The overall intention was great and I thought the sections on self love and boundaries were helpful. But overall not too excited by it.
