I'm a good girl.

But everything gets flipped upside down when the bad boy of the school shows interest in me. And he's not taking no for an answer.

He's changing me, and I'm helpless to stop it. I'm just along for the ride.

We're toxic together - unhealthy.

Destructive.

And when he breaks me, he leaves me spiraling.

My mental health is out of control. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

But when he comes back, scrambling to pick up my pieces, and brings his older brother along with him… I can only wish him the best of luck.

Because I’m not sure I’m capable of being saved.

I was unsure if I could read Shattered just because of what Bailey goes through. Some of it hit too close to home, and I could not put the book down and read it in a day.

The storyline could be triggering for some, so be forewarned. This is a dark romance and a story of trauma, redemption, salvation, and hope. Love can do a lot for a person, especially one that is traumatized, whose heart, mind, and soul have been shattered by life, let alone the chemical makeup of their body. T.O. Smith does a beautiful job of showing us this component of life unapologetically and with brutal honesty. Some will not get it and judge the characters. However, if you have been in those shoes or been in a situation remotely similar, there will be no judgment.

The characters in the book are Imperfect, fascinating, and wonderfully flawed. They are exceptionally human. Seth and Stephen are the best imperfect heroes, Trevor is a wonderful big brother, and Jacob is a phenomenal best friend. The characters are engaging, and their individual stories are compelling. There is more to come with Jacob and Trevor, and I can hardly wait to read their stories.

I could not put this book down and read it all in one seating. Bailey falls for the bad boy and then he breaks her heart which leaves her spiraling to a dark and unhappy place. Seth returns and tries to put her back together but it gets more complicated when his family gets involved. The look in the Bailey’s mind is a boggling and scary one, and I have to admit that I had tears in my eyes for the majority of this novel. That being said, there is joy to this story as Bailey’s family and a good friend lends unwavering love and support, as well as Seth and his brother. This is not a light read, but it definitely is meaningful, and I can honestly say that I truly have enjoyed this deeply moving book.

Shattered is not for the faint of heart. It is dark, heavy and full of emotions. If you are looking for a sweet romance, this isn’t it. But, this is still a beautiful story about a girl that deals with depression, anxiety and more. Bailey has been through so much and comes out stronger in the end. Even though this was a very emotional read I couldn’t put it down. I had to see how Bailey’s story would play out. It was tough to get through some parts due to the heavy subjects but I’m glad I read it. This is one that will stick with me for a long time!

This book was deep and dark yet you could feel the love when Seth was with Bailey. Bailey was loved by many actually which I think helps when one is swirling around in their own mind filled with darkness and dread. I will admit that I had to stop reading this book and come back to it due to a situation that happened at our small school which unfortunately lead to the tragic death of a student. This book talks about suicide but doesn’t go there. Consider yourself warned.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster. I get the storyline and meanings behind this story and I do believe it will and can help other people. For me personally it was just a little too much. Maybe because I can relate to some parts of the story, not all of it and I feel bad for all who have to go through stuff like this. The storyline with Seth and Stephan just wasn't my piece of cake. For the writer: you are so brave for putting this on paper and I'm proud of you for doing so.

Keep your tissues close!

I've never read anything so sad yet enjoyable. It was a great read from start to finish. There were times where I thought the story went too fast, or some parts were skipped to further the twists of the story along. Totally not the case. I appreciate a raw emotional story. This is definitely that.

This story was slow to begin with, but became increasingly enticing to the point where I could not put it down.

This book turned out to ultimately, absolutely AH-MAZING! I completely enjoyed it and the twists/turns that went along with every chapter.
