I want to live the rest of my life with no regrets. And I'm sure gonna try to figure out how.
Just as she's turning 60, a life-altering event brings Lisa face to face with this startling realization. The mother of three beautiful children, grandmother to a sweet newborn grandson, a woman with close friends and plenty of activities to keep her busy, Lisa thought she was satisfied with her ordinary life. But now she just can't shake the feeling that something is missing.
Determined to die with no regrets, Lisa launches into a powerful journey to make the most of the fourth and final quarter of her life. Along the way, she enlists the help of Anthony, the happiest 97-year-old she's ever met, encounters a nun who sparks a soul-stirring experience, and discovers in herself greater strength than she knew she possessed.
A captivating and groundbreaking fable, No Regrets is the only book out there that provides a roadmap for how to make the most of the final season of life. If you, like Lisa, are searching for greater meaning in your life, then join authors Allen Hunt and Matthew Kelly as they reveal five incredible secrets to living intentionally and making the most of your own fourth quarter.
No matter what quarter of life you find yourself in, you will be inspired, moved, and encouraged to make the most of the one life you've been given.
A woman at work whom I absolutely adore wants so much to be a reader. This is the 2nd book she’s had the patience to read this last month and she wanted to share it with me. It’s not my thing at all. But she will be so happy I read it. It was super quick. The writing is repetitive and super simple/basic. I will say positive things to her though when I report back. 🙂
At first I thought this book didn’t apply to me since I’m not yet in my fourth quarter, and it felt a little hokey. That said, it’s one that going to stick with me and I hope to reread when it s more applicable. I look around and do see how different people enter their fourth quarter, and I want to enjoy I live mine (and end mine) well.
This was a good book to read to help me think about the potentially last quarter of my life. It was written from a very Catholic perspective, one of which I no longer hold. But the concept of thinking about how you are living your life and what is important to me to to do so that I live without regrets. I honestly feel I am on that path and one of the first big steps for me was to leave the Catholic Church after being a member for 65 years and going becoming a Protestant. It has allowed me to be fulfilled in my heart and that emptiness of 'ritualistic belief' & guilt of Catholicism took a few years to be erased from my soul. That in itself was worth the leap of faith!
I recently and unexpectedly retired and am trying to figure out what to do next. This book was suggested. It's a fable about Lisa, a woman similar to my age who is searching for meaning. Along her journey she meets some people who offer tips which are presented as "the 5 keys to living and dying with no regrets." These points are worth delving into for further reflection.
Lisa is Catholic and her experience includes renewing her faith, so much of this book will be most meaningful to Catholics. But if non Catholic readers are open minded they can still get good pointers for living a meaningful 4th Quarters.
For me, reading this once will not be enough to incorporate these new principles into my life. I will need to continue somehow with the ideas. The authors offer a journal for follow-up work, so I might consider that.
Available through Dynamic Catholic, this book has a religious theme to it. Not typically what I read, but it was great food for thought about living the fourth quarter of your life well and with intention, appreciating what your life is about as well as the important people in your life, and making sure they know how much you love them. It focused attention on giving thought to the meaning of your life, rather than simply waking up each morning, going through your routine, and getting into bed at night, living as though there is no end to life. This changed my daily focus and my daily perspective. It's a simple read, referred to as a fable, but it struck a chord with me.

I really liked this fable. It was very thought-provoking. It was easy to read and clearly written. Since I am in the last quarter of my life, (I won't say where), I paid close attention to Lisa and where she was going, and how she was getting there. I especially liked when her friend Anthony guided her to pick a virtue to follow in her dealings with people. I am trying this right now, and it really helps. I also liked Anthony's idea of forgiving others. As he said, this is not the time to hold grudges. This book I will remember and use.
Nothing is profound in this book and yet it had a decent impact in its simplicity. Mindfulness in the moment and a reminder that no one is guaranteed tomorrow, is the nudge to remember to not miss any opportunities. What is important is ours to define and ours to provide. I love the deliberateness and intentionality that is stressed as well as the outcomes in life if we are active and mindful.
A great book especially for those getting older. Uses the "story fable" method to speak to how to make ones life more memorable. An easy read but very thought provoking. Ends with somewhat easy to recall (at least for me) steps to remember. A bit of Christian spirituality though out the book but it is clearly not a Christian religion book. I got a lot out of it. Just have to try to remember it!
A very interesting concept of what could happen in your fourth quarter. I found it fascinating to delve into the thought process of this woman and advice given. Being already well into my fourth quarter it gave me a lot to think about and act on some of the ideas. Enjoy Allen Hunt and Matthew Kelly's writings.
It is a simple read but struck home in several ways. I too am in my 4th quarter and I too am going to my first silent retreat. Retirement has got me a bit lost and I am looking for a bit of guidance. I bought this with the workbook so that will come next. I did get some ideas to pursue and for that I am grateful.
I read this with my faith sharing group and we discussed a couple chapters each time we met. The basic premise is how to live your 4th quarter of life with no regrets. The book definitely gave me time and space to pause and reflect. The most powerful result from this book were the fruitful discussions it led to within our group.
This is definitely a book for Christians with a definite slant for Catholics. The first key is to say yes to God. It is a quick easy read like most of the books from Dynamic Catholic. If you are looking for a book which has every point illustrated by bible verses this isn't for you. Rather it is a book which shows how a way to live one's life as death draws nears.
Kind of just what I needed to put things in perspective and push me to focus on change in my life as things have maneuvered to make me stop and pivot into the next chapter. Especially taking inventory of the good and the goals and what things are important to cultivate in my body and soul.
Super easy to read. Nice way to change things up - it’s good to have a fiction story every now and then about faith. Brings up important questions about life and earth. Also left some big questions unanswered and that annoyed me.
Just the best book! I want to recommend to all ages, but especially those of us closing in on 60! Great advice written in story form. A very short read. I am planning on getting the workbook and delving deeper!
This book has a slow start BUT I absolutely love this book & even cried a lot at the end because I was so touched ! I feel inspired to live life & beyond glad I was able to read this as a 29 year old. TOTALLY recommend !
This is actually a hardcover book, about living your 4th quarter of life. Currently reading......
Lisa is turning 60 and a life altering event brings her to changing her 4th quarter of life. She wants to live the rest of her life with No Regrets and is trying to figure out how to do this. She encounters help from a 97 year old man and a nun who help her through a soul searching experience and a great strength she never knew she possessed. It is a inspirational book no matter what quarter of life you are in. Glad I spotted this on my search for good reads. Gives a person something to think about in their life and preparing for trying new things and how to become closer to God and have NO Regrets in life. As we get older it is hard to face the fact that we are going to die. We all are at any age. Live LIFE with No Regrets and remember the five keys to living and dying with No Regrets.
I listened to this as an audiobook, and I wish I had read it instead. The story is thought-provoking and has a great message, but, I found the narrator's pacing grating.
