The Lucinda Simulation

Rate this book
Abbi Rondo has created The Lucinda Simulation, an interactive archive for decommissioned A.I.—a “robot heaven.” Now comes the hard part: securing investment. It’s a controversial project and she much prefers technical work to public relations. But when a terrorist bombs her presentation at a tech conference, Abbi is thrust into the spotlight and her commitment to Lucinda is put to the test. As the hunt for the bomber intensifies, conspiracists uncover startling connections between Abbi’s promotional efforts and anti-A.I. extremists, raising the ultimate question: is Abbi Rondo a woman driven too far?

Andrew Craven writes science fiction and fantasy. He received a BA in English from York College, located in York , Pennsylvania, where he was born and raised; he’ll probably die there too. He’s the author of five books: Moshiah, The Curse on Long Autumn Valley, Wintercity Crossing, Cloudbreak, and The Lucinda Simulation. When he’s not writing, he’s partying with his sons, Henry and Robbie, dabbling in heavy metal guitar, and reading whatever he can get his hands on. His beautiful wife, Carrie, wonders when she’ll be mentioned in this bio.

Strange book; the story is not that captivating per se, but what is interesting, at least to me, is the ethical discussion about the human/ machine interdependencies and the pros and cons of adopting a new technology, which may disrupt those. However this is not a treatise, therefore it strikes a good balance and makes the book enjoyable

This seemed like a book that I wouldn’t have throughout enjoyed seeing as it included a lot of science and smart talk, I tend to lean to horror or romance books by this was a pleasant surprise. I especially enjoyed that the characters pov we were in wasn’t an outside character that was secretly in love with Abbi, or had some hidden agenda, but just simply a coworker who enjoyed working with this woman in very the time and getting to read the story through his eyes instead of Abbi’s eyes I know it’s nothing drastic or something never done before, but it’s just refreshing when most of what I read is in first person point of view

Instead of focusing on the drama inside a simulated world, The Lucinda Simulation is a story about how one was created. I feel like this could easily be made into an episode of Black Mirror. An enjoyable, quick read!
