Hellbound #6
The Devil's Saturnalia
While in Scotland for Lionel’s magic training with Hades, a murder case compels the Devil and his necromancer to stick around a little longer. Lionel, who still cannot control his demigod magic properly, doesn’t mind a murder investigation, because that is something a necromantic police consultant like himself knows how to handle.
Except, the investigation doesn’t go at all as Lionel thought it would. And when he decides he wants to open up to Lucifer, finally, that doesn’t go exactly as Lionel had feared either, but some surprises are good surprises, especially when Saturnalia is just around the corner.
Lucifer is delighted. He has his boyfriend, who finally opens up, and his boyfriend is all his, at least through the holidays. That much attention is exactly what Lucifer loves, and the holiday season would be entirely perfect -- if it weren’t for an old enemy who is out for vengeance.

Set before book 4, The Devil's Saturnalia is an adorable holiday story featuring pretty much the whole gang.
Nelly and Lucy are in Scotland for the entire book while Nelly does magic training with Hades.
The necromancer finds that the Scottish police work quite differently and this book fills in the ongoing plot nicely. In book 4, Nelly is far more settled, wants to take time off, spend more time in Scotland with his new family, and here is why.
I loved everything about it. Nelly slowly opening up to Lucy was lovely. How could you not love an alpha god thar wants to give you everything?
Lucifer dotes on Lionel and it was perfect

The Devil's Saturnalia is book six in the Hellbound series but best read between the third and fourth books. The story is sweet and hot at the same times. Nelly and Lucifer are in Scotland where Nelly is training with Hades. Of course, an enemy comes with a mystery. I love watching their relationship evolve. I also learned a little about other holiday traditions! And a few friends along the way. I’ve missed the humor this author brings in spades. Overall, a fantastic holiday novella! Well written with pacing that hooked me, kept me engaged and flipping the pages!

There are so many likable aspects to this story. My favorites:
Lucy and Nelly, with peak Lucy & Nelly vibes, but softer/more communicative and open with each other.
The setting (Scotland) which is a great backdrop for the blend of festive, sweet, and hot that this story is. It fits the tone (low angst, maximum time spent with interesting characters doing interesting things and making important relationship developments) perfectly.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I was so ecstatic to have Lucy, Nelly, Sephy, Hades, Tiamat, Trony, Cerebus and Soul back. I had missed them so much. I had missed the humor in a very dark story. Oh yeah don't forget the hotness and steamy scenes that would require a cold shower to calm you down. The Hellbound series is one of my absolute favorite series.

Somehow, when I started reading the Devil series by Alexa Piper, I never envisioned Lucifer celebrating any winter holiday. It was fun to be proven wrong in The Devil’s Saturnalia and to read about how Lucifer spent his holiday vacation. I also enjoyed seeing Lucifer and his friends celebrate their own versions of all the winter holidays, some of which I was not familiar with. Of course it would not be a story about Lionel, necromancer extraordinaire, without a murder to solve. I’m not a fan of resurrecting old villains, but it provided some dramatic tension and tied off a plot line at the same time. I hope the author does bring back Lucifer and Lionel, if only as secondary characters in future books. I received a free copy of this book from Changeling Press and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Lucy & Nelly
I love this series. It's always a good read when it's a story about Lucifer and Lionel and this one didn't disappoint. I enjoyed following along as they conducted their investigation as well as getting closer in their relationship.
I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

I keep falling more and more in love with Lucy and Nelly with each of their books. Nelly is starting to realize what being in a family is really like and how important his found family is to him. There is a mystery that needs to be solved and an old enemy in the mix. I really enjoyed seeing Nelly enjoying the holiday festivities with such amazing friends and family! Love seeing the whole gang in this book, these characters are so much fun and lovely!
An overall splendid read!

This makes me so happy! 😊
This is definitely a feel good read. I love that Nelly and Lucy are getting so close. They're so hot together! I swear Nelly is the sweetest! I love Sephy and Hades, and Trony too! I'm so thrilled with Nelly's magic! It's fabulous! This book just makes me so happy. I love it!! Cerberus and Soul are the best! ❤️

This is really book 3.5 in the series. It relays some of the events of that long winter holiday vacation Nelly and Lucy take at Hades and Sephy's Scottish castle.
And of course murder follows everywhere Nelly goes, as does corpses, so there's a dead body, or two to resurrect. The murder really isn't the focus of this book, and although a nice plot device to extend Nelly's time in Scotland, the point of the book is to show what happened to make Nelly open up to Lucy and really consider him a life partner. In book 4, you get this impression that something incredible happened over the holidays. Something that altered Nelly's view of his relationship completely. Before, it was like Nelly viewed his interactions with Lucy as something happening to him, rather than him actively participating in. It was as if he closed this wall around himself, and viewed the relationship between him and Lucy as baseless and fleeting. In this book he opens up to Lucy, and Lucy in turn is able to show Nelly the depth of his love for the little necromancer. Nelly doesn't doubt anymore that Lucy is his and vice versa.
It was a beautiful thing to read. And of course there were funny moments too.
Nelly: "Since when had the Devil giving me orders become a turn-on? Oh, yeah, since that one time he’d tied me to the bed and fucked me so hard my non-existent soul left my body."
Lucy: "Ah, love. What a fucking disease that made me loathe the cure."
And the way Lucy sometimes referred to Nelly, so cute. "my most favorite necromantic hothouse flower."

Set entirely in Scotland, The Devil's Saturnalia is a festive and sweet story that chronologically comes before book 4, and has even less angst than the previous books. Apart from Nelly and Lucy, it features Hades and Persephone, a few dead people, an old enemy, some action, Scottish people, and a lot of holiday feelings.
Nelly and Lucy are one of my favorite couples and seeing their relationship evolve in this series is the most beautiful thing ever.
In this book, Nelly practices with opening up to Lucy, and Lucy practices with a softer approach to being there for Nelly. They are open and vulnerable and so full of love for each other that it warms my heart on a cold day.
Of course, Lucy and Nelly being Lucy and Nelly, this story is also very sexy.
And fun. This story is fun. I love the humor in this book.
Who am I kidding, I love everything about this book!
A mix of sweet and steamy, this low-angst novella-length story is a (pre)holiday with Nelly and Lucy you don't want to miss.

Awesome Demi-Human Sled Dog
‘Hell. I was in hell. With all the nosy death gods and their lovers. And dogs. It was like that dream where you wake in hell wearing nothing but a fake fur coat and no underwear.’
This title and quote should certainly be enough to draw your attention to Alexa Piper’s wonderful series, Hellbound.
Book 6, The Devil’s Saturnalia, the newest book in the series, should be read after book 3, The Devil’s Demigod, per Alexa’s suggestion. You will find it a gift, much like you would fing a puppy under your Christmas tree.
Nelly and Lucy have said ‘the words’ and their family has grown to include their close friends living in Scotland. But leave it to Nelly to continue to find himself on evil’s radar.
Lots of action in this holiday themed thriller. As well as cheering feelings of love amongst chosen kin.
Another exciting read that should also warm your heart!

The Devil's Saturnalia (Hellbound 6)
Alexa Piper
This book has everything kinks, mystery, family and there's a murder right under their nose.
Lionel gets a chance to feel what it's like to be a part of a real family.
There's a old enemy that comes and wants his revenge.
Everyone is preparing for Saturnalia and plans on staying with Hades and Persephone to join in their tradition of tree selection, drinks and celebration.
I love all of these characters especially as they come together in one book and you feel like you know them, just by the way Alexa writes the characters it's like you been on their journey with them and it's a fantastic adventure.
I highly recommend this book.

I truly loved this novel! I was initially confused because I didn't know exactly where the story fell in the chronological reading order, but once I used my context clues, I was happy to discover that this novel took place between books 3 and 4 of the Hellhound series.
I am enamored with this series and I was so happy with how much closer Lionel (Nelly) and Lucifer (Lucy) grew in their relationship.

You have to love this cover with its traditional holiday imagery and then that ominous couple. I'd have wanted to read this from the cover alone. Loved the mix of the holiday in Scotland, the mystery and a glimpse of Scottish police procedure and the way Nelly and Lucy bond so much more closely during this period. A great addition to the series.

This is the sixth book in the Hellhound series. I just love Lucy and Nellie so much. This whole book is set in Scotland. This book has everything you could want in a story, kinks, mystery, family and there's a murder. I would definitely recommend this book.

Barely half a book!!!
This is a small blurb over Christmas that takes place between two previous books. This does not finish off the series in any way. Not worth the price being asked... at all. Wish I could get my money back!!

This is the sort of holiday romance story that I appreciate. One that includes dead bodies. The relationship between Nelly and Lucy continues to evolve with plenty of sweetness, steam, and necromancy. I am already starting on the complimentary book, A Devilish Saturnalia.
