They’re big and green, and my only hope of saving my sister…

When you’re born into the world of the Chosen Ones, escaping your destiny as a fated mate isn’t exactly easy. Thankfully, I’m one of six daughters, and with my extra curves and no-nonsense attitude, voted least likely to ever become a goblin bride.

What do I care if I’ll never be whisked off to their magical homeland, miles under the earth? I have my job and my family, and two feet planted firmly above ground.

But as fate would have it, instead of one goblin coming for me on Offering Night, I get two. Hot-as-hell brothers, who are so competitive, they’ll do anything to give me a mating bite.

But sorting out that mess is going to have to wait. Because my youngest sister didn’t just get cold feet on Offering Night – she’s missing, and no one has seen her for days. I’ll do anything to find her, and the goblin brothers will do anything to win themselves a mate. So we agree on a mating quest. They’ll track down my sister - and I’ll accept the winner as my fated mate.

It should be easy. Find my sister. Wriggle out of their mating claims. And once the crust between our worlds closes, go back to my simple, goblin-free life.

Or at least that’s the plan until fate comes along and bites me in the butt.

* GROT is the third book in this steamy monster series with all the feels. It fleshes out the BACKYARD GOBLIN GODS world, but can be read as a standalone. For lovers of fated mates, hot, driven monsters, and the spunky heroines who win against the odds.

A Gobelin love triangle between two brothers....who will win Jessica's heart?

I'm really loving this series. In this one we see what's been unfolding from a different angle and a continuation of the story. Jess is using the competition between Grottu and Glintu to help find her missing sister. Hey, all's fair in love and fae wars!!

This was really good. I loved down to earth Jess who seems to have more common sense than anyone else in her family. Her love and loyalty to her sister, has her putting her own needs on the back burner. But Grot is there to support her and has vowed to find her sister. He protects Jess throughout, reminding her that she is precious too.

I can't wait for the next installment. I also hope we get a story for Grace, Angie, and the vampirically yummy Prince Rheandark. The good bad guys need some love too!

3.75 - 4 smut-scale stars!

The goblins of Underhill once again are searching for their fated mate and this time Grot accepts Jess' offering and intends to claim her forever.

Jess has little interest in being a mate but coming from one of the first families for the tradition, it is expected of her. Never imagining she would be claimed, she is both flabbergasted and intrigued by the cinnamon roll alpha goblin that says she is his.

Grot is huge and just the sweetest hero and wants Jess more than the air he breathes. He isn't the only one that wants Jess though. What will Jess do? Jess isn't only dealing with two goblins trying for her attention but a missing sister and some evil fae on their tail.

Full of action, some angst, and a big heaping of steam...this was the perfect monster romance to binge. The world is fun and unique and Roxy has done a good job at not recycling story lines. Jess did get on my nerves quite a few times with her indecisiveness but I did appreciate her tenacity. Grot was a big teddy bear and you can't help but love him. Overall, a fun read.

I Am My Sister's Keeper

The backyard Goblin Gods is an amazing series. The world building and character development is great and the goblins are swoonworthy.

In this particular installment Jess is a a nursing student but also a member of the Capulet family who are Chosen Ones promised to be mates for goblins. Jess would rather be working helping patients instead of participating in Offering Day in hopes of meeting a goblin to chose her as a mate.

The Offering is the furthest thing from Jesse's mind especially when she notices one of her sisters missing. Doing her duty as a Chosen One she presents her offering still thinking about her missing sister. As Jess returns home to take her mind off of worrying she never imagined having her offering accepted by not 1 but 2 goblins.

Grot and his brother Glint were sent on a mission and along the way Grot finds Jess's offering and recognizes her as his mate but to his dismay Glint wants to claim her as well.

At first this story seemed like a love triangle headed for disaster but I wss pleasantly surprised when it didn't turn out messy. Jess's focus was entirely on her sister and Grot knew as long as his mate worried she would never accept his claiming. Therefore, he embarks upon a quest to find Jess's sister to prove to her how committed he was until Glint offered his assistance as well.

Although Glint was purposely trying to rile Grot up; it also showed how he had his brother's back and in the same token looked out for Jess. When Grot and Glint realize that Jess's sisters disappearance is tied to the Fae that have Bern abducting women they knew time was of the essence and if they had any chance of saving Jess's sister they needed to put aside their competitive differences.

Although Jess was drawn to Grot and enjoying Glint's humor and attention she never once waivered in her pursuit to find her sister. Jess went through insurmountable obstacles to save her sister as well as all of the other missing women.

I look forward to seeing what happens next in this series because there is only a few more weeks left in which the remaining goblins can find their mates before the rift to air side closes but with the Fae causing so many issues its only a matter time before the Backyard Goblins will need to go to war with the Fae to protect the remaining Chosen Ones as well as find mates for themselves before its too late.

Although this can be read as a stand alone, I think it’s easier to follow if you’ve read the previous stories in the series. The characters don’t overlap much but the talents and skills of the Gobelins are covered better in the first two.

That said, I’m enjoying this series a lot. Grottu can’t claim his mate because his brother insists she’s his mate and she won’t agree because her sister is missing.

There is a battle with the fae but it’s not too detailed and the important HEA. If you like sexy monsters I recommend you read this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and Book Sirens and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own.

Jess gives her offering to the Goblin Horde but istead if snagging one goblin she gets two brothers. She knows that she is more attracted to Grottu but efore she focuses on her mating she needs to find her sister.
Jess is quiet but fiesty and sure of what she wants Grottu is the strong and silent type and wants his mate but also wants to ensure that her fam8ily is safe as well.
This story runs in parallel with the other books in the serire which gives an interesting viewpoint of events.
It expands Underhill and how residents interact with each other and you get to see in inner workings of the hags.
The leads are good character that have that spark to keep you interested.
It also leaves enough breadcrumbs to see possibilities coming for the next couple of books in the series.

I do love the BGG series and what I'm loving the most is that as more of the gobelins find their mates, the tapestry of the initial timeline/story weaves together as more aspects from different character POVs are added.

Unlike the 2 previous books, the FMC in Grot is portrayed as a mid/plus size (size not actually stated, just description and character refers to herself as 'big').

From the hints/teasers within this book, I can imagine how different the next book Glint will be!

Loved this so much! Jess and Grot are my favorite pair for sure. So great to see more about the choosing ceremony and underhill. Jess is a chosen one but she doesn’t want to change her life for a goblin mate. I liked how she was an ordinary person but had such a deep bond with him. Can’t wait for the next book - looks 🔥 🥵

Oh my, each book keeps webbing such an interesting world I can't get enough.
Grottu and Jess's mating gets muddled when his brother claims she's his mate too and also by the fact that her sister is missing.
There's action, suspense, fated mates, and steam.

Jess's sister is missing and knowing she is on of the first families and a chance she is to be claimed by a Goblin, she gives her offering only to find two brothers. Grottu is ready to claim his mate, but knows family comes first, and will do anything to help Jess. Well written steamy, drama, desires, paranormal romance, a great addition to the series.

I think this my favorite of the three books. Delicious alpha roll and the Jess is strong and independent. I love it when the FMC can hold her own and the MMC doesn’t treat her like a child. I want to get lost in Underhill 💚💚💚

This is another backyard goblin story. This time with Grot and Jess. There is some spicy goodness in this. This story can be read alone if wanted, but reading the other 2 first would give you more background.
I did enjoy this story like the other two books. For some reason this one didn't grab me as much as the other ones did. I will still read the next one.

Goblins are those rarely written about supernaturals so when I come across anything goblin I jump at the chance to read it. So when I stumbled across Grot by Roxy Collins I had to read it. Now this is my first Roxy Collins book and Grot is the third book in the Backyard Goblins series but luckily it's a standalone so I had no problems keeping up with such a fantastic story.

Jessica Capulet is a caregiver, her goal is to become a nurse and she's so close to finishing. I like Jess, she has a big heart but she is as stubborn as a mule. It's totally understandable that she doesn't want to give up her life in exchange for her duty to become a goblin bride. However, it gets to a point, after feelings develop, that she just being stubborn. On the other hand, she does have a fighting spirit and I admire that.

Grottu "Grot" is the sweetest goblin, he's devoted to Jessica right from the start, willing to take things at her pace, helping her when she needs it, and just being there in general. The goblin melted my heart but he isn't a pushover actually quite the opposite. To everyone else, Grot is the big scowlly warrior but he is a cinnamon roll for Jess, willing to do anything for her.

The human women of the Underhill (the goblins' realm) left little to be desired. They are snobby little things and Jess doesn't fit which is a good thing. I will say I'm surprised by Jess's Aunt Adeline, I thought she would be nasty like Jess's mother but she's not and she's not like the other women either. She understands tradition but isn't so rigid either and her mate seems like he'd be a hoot too. By far my favorite person from Underhill is cousin Scorna, she is a teenager with a lot of personality, she's sweet and she and Jess get on fabulously.

With a reluctant mate, family drama, a meddling brother (my heart goes to Glintu), a passionate romance, complicated goblin culture, and a missing sister, you get a great story. I enjoyed seeing Grot and Jess build their relationship while slowly forming a bond. However, all the action came from a missing little sister. Following the clues encountering bikers, other magical creatures, and attacks make for great entertainment.

Roxy Collins knocked it out of the park with Grot, she checked a lot of boxes for me. Hot goblins, check. Fated mates, check. Magic, check. HEA, check. The story is laced with culture, history, and traditions, and Roxy managed to pack a whole lot of punch in just one book. I'm plan on going back and reading the other two books in the series as well as checking out Roxy's rh duology because I a sucker for rh and I can't wait to see how she takes that on.

Grot, by Roxy Collins is the third installment of the Backyard Goblin Gods series. We got a hint of this book’s main characters in the previous volume that had me wondering about the woman with two suitors.

Jessica is different from our previous heroines in that she is one of the Chosen Ones from a first family. These are humans who keep the gobelin/human agreement alive by teaching their daughters about gobelins and Underhill and their destiny to offer themselves as potential mates to the gobelins when the crust opens. Jess isn’t really interested in that life and is convinced that she is the least desirable of her sisters, therefore doesn’t really have to worry about being chosen. She is hopeful that she can go through with the ceremony, not be chosen, and then go on with her life with her mother finally off her back. Instead, she finds herself being pursued by two gobelins who are determined to win her favor. And her life is made more chaotic with the disappearance of her sister. She needs to make sure her sister is safe and sound before she can even think about her predicament.

Grot, like all of the gobelins we’ve met so far, is complicated but amazing. He is the cinnamon roll monster romance hero I crave. He’s utterly dedicated to doing everything he can to help Jess find her sister and ultimately win her over. He knows she is his fated mate but he humors his brother’s challenge and competes in this mating quest. After all, there can be only one.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This series just keeps getting better. I love the way we get more and more gobelin lore as the story progresses. Can’t wait to see who’s next. I love that we get more character detail. And I love that each couple shows a different perspective. This is my favorite book in the series yet.

Big thanks to Roxy Collins and Booksprout for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review. You can buy Grot, by Roxy Collins on Amazon for a couple bucks or read it as part of your Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Independent reviewer for Book Sirens, I was gifted my copy of this book.

THis is book 3 in the Backyard Goblin Gods series. While not strictly necessary, it would help a great deal to read both Grunge and Grouch before this one. There is some overlap of the time lines, which only really occured to me while reading THIS, and the reason WHY that is so. I'll come back to that.

But here's the thing, right? It only dawned on me while shelving THIS book, that these books are written in my trifecta of hell:

First Person
Present Tense AND
Multi Point of View.

I have dumped books once I realise they are written this way, and it took me THREE WHOLE books to make the connection! That can ONLY be down to the author's skill at grabbing you and not letting go.

Going back to the time line thing: The crust is only open for a short time, to allow the goblins to find their mates so it stands to reason that there is overlapping of stories. Again, 3 books for that to click!

ALSO different in this book, is that Jess knew, from a very early age, that she would mate a Goblin. While Drew (book 2) and Cassie (book 1) had no clue about what was under their feet, Jess is all clued up. But she doesn't really want to be mated. Then her sister is missing and Jess knows she has to use everything at her disposal to find Angela. Even TWO Goblins.

I'm left with the idea of pairings now: Glintu, Grot's brother, needs a mate, but I've a strong suspicion the lady in question has already made her choice, she just needs to come of age. Angela is found, so she is going to need a mate, and another Goblin appears here, who sparked my interest and the way he was described made me think he would be perfect for Angela.

But really, I need them ALL to find their mates! Because I'm really loving these books, and I want more of these gorgeous green giants in my life!

5 full and shiny stars

I read this book as a standalone and was able to get the full experience of the book but I am curious to see if the prior books would have added to the enjoyment I had reading this book.

First off Jess is an amazing character and Roxy brought out every curvy woman's insecurities right out there and by the end of the book gave that bit of confidence needed for the future. The story Roxy weaves in Grot takes you through a nursing student who is part of a First Family of Chosen Women promised to Goblins through a Pact formed generations back and who wants nothing to do with the Underhill and would be happy to continue her life Airside(earth). During the Offering Ceremony Jess notices her younger sister is missing and it turns out to be a "Mating Quest" for Grottu and his brother Glintu (who claims Jess is his mate too) to determine who her True Mate is. Win… win she'll get the help she needs to find her missing sister and her friend and figure her way through the mating bond.

Grottu is a unique character in himself. You can't help but root for him and for the way he dotes on Jess. He builds her up and sees her for who she is above and beyond the baggy t-shirts and scrubs. He's a protector of not only the Underhill but of all things related to Jess.

This book takes you through all the feels. From fear and the sadness of the hurdles and hardships Jess endures in her journey to find her sister. The anxiety and page turning to figure out how all the pieces fit together and most if all the total and truly accepting nature if Grot and his family. Especially since Jess' mom and a few sisters aren't very supportive and give you wicked stepmother/sister vibes even though they're blood family. Amazing book!

Grot is the third installment in the Backyard Goblin series. It is what I will call a “Parallel Prequel” where the story tells of events that happened before, and also during, the first two books. However, this story is told from the perspective of Jess and Grottu. I think that aspect was done reasonably well and it all gets tied together nicely in the end. 👍🏻

I appreciated that the FMC in this book was plus-sized. Although self-deprecating at times, I didn’t feel it was too overdone and it made sense given the social stigmas we face in our society today. We also have a different family dynamic happening with Jess, which made the story feel different from the others. Sometimes with these types of series the books can feel like redundant and rehashed versions of each other, so I think the author did a good job at mixing it up a bit to give new intrigue.

With all that being said, I will be honest and admit that this was my least favorite of the series so far. Since I already knew that key events were coming up from the other books, I felt a little impatient with the story leading up to those moments. I also wasn’t a big fan of the spicy scenes or the dialogue during those scenes. It could just be my own personal preferences on the matter, but it felt quite cringe at moments and I actually ended up skimming through the last few scenes for that reason. It’s a bit of a bummer because, especially with the final one, it seemed important to the story, but I just couldn’t get past it.

I do recommend this series, but I might not continue on with the 4th. I’m not super connected with the direction the story is going in, there isn’t that pull saying “I have to see what happens next!”, but I’m sure there are tons of others who will absolutely GOBBLE it up! 😜

Even though this was already available to read on KU, I did read it as an ARC and am leaving my honest review!

Grot is the third installment of the Backyard Goblin Gods series. The main character, Jess is somewhat reluctant to follow her family's tradition of making an offering to the goblins. As a daughter from one of the founding families of the pact with the goblins, Jess is expected to make her offering and hope to be selected as a mate for the goblins. However, Jess dreams of being a nurse and when she's selected by both Grottu and his brother Glintu as each of their prospective mate, her plans for the future are forced into turmoil. But when she realizes her younger sister has been missing for days, she agrees to mate whichever brother finds her sister first.

While this series has fairly dark content for monster romances, this book is the lightest of the three. The content of the book entwines with what happens in the previous two book but without quite touching as hard on some of the darker aspects.

My main complaint is that Jess is a larger girl and she angsts about her size quite a bit. These size issues seem to grow as the book goes on. While I appreciate that Collins does not have her image issues go away just because the goblins are interested in her, it would have been nice for Jess to become more at peace with who she is physically. As weight issues typically aren't suddenly over, the book is likely more realistic, but I still just wanted Jess to be happy with herself.

Overall a great third book with a generally happier tone. Great for people looking for a lighter read while still retaining the tone and themes of the series.

The one with even more SA

I got to around 43% and just gave up any hopes of enjoying this book. I thought the whiplash I had experienced from the short jump between the almost raping to mating & claiming in the last book was due to pacing and editing issues, now I am not so sure. I was getting some major magic dick (or in this case magic tongue) vibes in this book. Am I crazy for not wanting a love scene right after an assault scene?

I also found the decision they make to keep important information secret from everyone else is stupid, selfish, and shortsighted. It just served as a plot device to create angsty filler while everyone twiddles their thumbs while I slowly went mad with frustration. Forget warning the other chosen that they may be targets of the fae, Jessica won't even tell her own family about the threats specifically made against them (i.e the crazy ass fae that wants to rape and murder all of her sisters and is currently working on 1 out of 6.)

As a bonus, Razor made another appearance and at first I was hopeful that we would finally have closure and he would have to face up to his own culpability in his MC raping underage girls (including his own daughter) while he did nothing but remain stupidly oblivious. But instead he's portrayed as some DILF that shamelessly propositions a flattered Jessica. Barf.

This time around, I would have liked my romance without a heavy side of body horror and threats of graphic rape and dismemberment thank you very much.

This is the third book in a series, but it reads fairly well as a standalone. For somewhat murky reasons, male goblins are allowed to leave their underground kingdom and pass into the aboveground human world once in a generation to find their female human mates. Young women dream of being selected by the handsome warriors and they present themselves much like Regency debutantes who know their fortune will be made or their prospects shattered during the short window of opportunity. Jessica Capulet is a 21st century woman embarking on a career in nursing. Will she succumb to the mating fever? And when her sister goes missing, will she sacrifice her once-in-a-lifetime chance at love in order to rescue her sibling from the clutches of the evil fae? As much as I enjoyed the interesting world the book portrays, with its conniving social climbers, fae villains, and Amazonian orc females, I was a little sad that Jessica still suffers from doubts about her curvy appearance and is under her mom's thumb financially. Even in a world where she has a perfect mate who accepts her unreservedly, it takes her a while to believe in her own self-worth and stop sacrificing her needs and desires for everyone else's. I liked the overall story line well enough to get the two preceding books, and I look forward to seeing what comes next for the orcs and their mates.

Jessica Capulet is a daughter of a chosen family, which means she is what is called a Chosen One for mating with a goblin by terms of a contract between the goblins and humans made many years ago. She has five sisters, a rather "fluffy" appearance, and in her mind has no hope of being selected as a goblin mate, so she is shocked when Grottu appears from her garden opening to Underhill and lays claim to her. She believes a mistake has been made. To add more confusion to the issue, not only has Grottu made a claim, so has his brother, Glintu. This has never happened before.

But when her youngest sister, Angie, and Angie's best friend, Rachel, go missing, Jessica realizes something is terribly wrong. Grottu and Glintu offer to help find the girls and discover they have been taken by the goblins' worst enemy, the fae. This is bad.

As Jessica begins to accept that she is in fact a Chosen One, with a good deal of encouragement from Grottu and Glintu, she finds herself caught up in mystery and conflict. How will she deal with it, and what will her ultimate decision be? Will it be Grottu or Glintu? Will she be able to save her sister and Rachel? Will there be an HEA for her?

There's plenty of excitement, action and heat in this story, along with some pretty awesome comedy. The dialog is very well-written. All in all, a very enjoyable read! Highly recommended for open-minded adults.

I loved this book. another great one in the series this one takes place kind of during the same time as the first one was happening which confused me for a minute until i realized what was going on since this is actually book 3. Wonderful richly detailed and well developed characters which interplay in each book which I really like. they intertwine really well even with each book being a stand alone. I like that Jessica was a bit more plus size and how her sisters and mother treated her as less than because of it and no one felt she would be chosen yet she was the only sister so far at least chosen by a goblin which kind of rubbed their faces in it. Loved that. also Jessica had such a kind and caring heart she didn't want to take her happiness until she found out what was going on with her sister. Underhill seems like such a real world and the author has done an amazing job of building a world that is deep under the ground which u wouldn't think was even possible. but i can truly see myself visiting or even living there in underhill which means the author outdid herself in world building. This is an amazing must read series.

The Backyard Gobelin series has been a pleasure to read and book 3 Grot officially ramps up the action with some intriguing plot twists that may have you thinking things are going in one direction but SURPRISE, not what you thought!
I enjoyed the story of Jessica Capulet, her sisters and the events that transpire on the night of their Offering Ceremony which brings into play a whole new meaning for the phrase “double the trouble.”
With her younger sister Angela missing Jessica has to step up for the family in finding her and with the help of Grottu the mate who shows up for her on Ceremony night, and this is where one of those little twists comes into the story, things advance with an exciting abundance of romance, adventure, humor, family dynamics, and Fae subterfuge that infuses the pages of a well written, fast-paced narrative where even further tidbits into the Gobelin world so imaginatively created by the author are revealed.

I Highly Recommended!

I've constantly shied away from reading anything with goblins because I had one type of goblin in mind...the ugly green ones. I enjoy Roxy's writing so much that I thought why not and Roxy did not disappoint! Who knew goblins can be HOT and book boyfriend material. How uncultivated I feel now.

Jessica and Grottu's bond was intoxicating and toe curling from the very first moment they laid eyes on one another. Not to spoil anything, but there were a few times when I wanted to reach into the book and choke some of the characters for their awesome timing.

Roxy has a way of writing that keeps you on your toes and paying attention because why not throw a twist on top of a twist? No harm in that right? No worries though, nothing is left unanswered.

If you want competing brothers on a mating quest, a touch her and die vibe, a missing sister and a heroine that is not willing to give up without a fight then this is for you!

So good…

Seriously, these Goblin books are something else.

I have loved each book in the Backyard Goblin Gods series and I’m now desperate to keep reading about the green guys from Underhill.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little worried when I saw the third book was standalone. But my concerns were quickly quelled, this book was so yummy. While a standalone reading the first two books in this series will only add to your connection and investment.

The Goblin MC is reflective and tender in a way you aren’t expecting. Meanwhile the FMC is both strong and flawed in a way most people can relate to. The only critique I have is that I found the FMC’s decision making foolish at times, but in the context of the story, it works and isn’t out of place.

Grot is an excellent story with fantastic and well developed characters. It was a perfect continuation of the larger story.

Trigger Warnings: Sexual Assault, physical violence, parental emotional abuse

I cannot explain how much I am loving the Backyard Goblins series. This is book three and though it can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading the books in order. Jess feels like she is the outcast of her Chosen sisters, she looks different, she's career oriented, curvy and opinionated. I absolutely love her. My only complaint is that for all of her strengths she is obsessed with her weight and refuses to believe her fated mate is physically attracted to her. This felt like it dragged on for much too long.

The world building is fascinating and I appreciate that the Hags make a bigger appearance and we get to know more about them as individuals in this book.

If you are looking for paranormal, curvy, fated mates with HEA then you need to start reading Grot.

What an exciting story. I have not read all of this series. It might help with some of the other story lines going on within the book but overall I knew what was going on. There was romance, mystery, some fighting and lots of bedroom activity. This book takes you to a place beyond fantasy and fairy tales. It take you to a brand new place with character that are familiar to you yet take on a whole different twist. Jess being raised to want to be an Underhill bride yet wants to pursue her nursing and really does not take it to serious. But once Grottu appears her whole view point changes. I liked her character she was a nurse through and through. Help not harm. Where as Grottu is a swing the axe first ask questions later kind of guy. But he reads Jess better than she knows herself. Well since there are a few unanswered questions at the end of this book I for one am looking g forward to.The next one !

Roxy Collins has done it again! Grot is another thigh clenching romp with the Backyard Goblin Gods of Underhill.

I loved the fact that Jessica, our reluctant First Family daughter, isn’t typically fated mate material. Caring, curvy and body conscious, Jessica is a real pleasure to read about. She isn’t a convinced about a future in Underhill anymore than she’s convinced that she looks like a Goblin mate.

The book links beautifully with the others in the series, drawing on events and relationships already introduced. Roxy Collins is building an interesting world, both airside and Underhill.

Just like her previous books, this one took very little time to finish because I couldn’t put it down. If you enjoyed her other adventures then this one is totally for you!
