Good brief history of Ohio so not too in depth. A few interesting tidbits here and there but was often dry at times. Read sometimes as a Wikipedia article.

The book covers the history of Ohio from well before it became a state to statehood and after. It notes the first actual settlers were Native Americans in various tribal formats. Gradually the coastal settlements of white people and black slaves started. Their population grew and there was a demand for more land to expand into.

The land belonged to the Native Americans but the book goes into the various battles for that land, the treaties that were broken over and over, and the gradual movement of Native Americans out of the Ohio territory.

The book discusses the various forts that were built, what places developed into regular cities, Porkopolis, Johnny Appleseed, the war of 1812 in relation to Ohio, Native American uprisings, various financial panics, the Eric canal, and the role of Ohio in the Underground Railroad.

The book also discusses sports, riots and famous people from Ohio. There's also a list of further resources. Basically it's a very good introduction to the history of the state.

This was a very interesting read. It starts with the very beginnings of Ohio and ends with present-day times. Different chapters cover different aspects of Ohio's history. This book would definitely be interesting to someone interested in Industrial Revolution America.
