Sparks fly when best friends Mateo and Morgan decide to work together to get good at dating. They're two good-looking college guys, they just need a little practice.
Too bad they have no one to practice with but each other. Hey, at least Morgan looks cute in a skirt, right?
Getting dumped sucks, and nobody knows the truth of that statement more than Mateo and Morgan. They've been best friends for a couple years, but neither of them can keep a girlfriend for more than a couple months! Mateo hasn't even kissed a girl, let alone get past first base with one. So of course he turns to his bestie, Morgan, for help. And, after all, practice makes perfect, right..?

Ryder doesn’t exist. Well, she didn’t, anyway, until some time in early 2022 when I decided to make my silly smut into something more. The person behind Ryder is me – just a silly, pansexual, polyamorous, demisexual, nonbinary creature who enjoys telling sexy and inclusive stories with and for my friends. I live with my partner in Ann Arbor, Michigan along with our three cats (and beloved overlords).
Ryder O. Cox tempted my appetite with the tease of "a gender & sexuality-questioning story," but it was that gorgeous cover, with the short skirt and thick thighs, that ultimately won me over - and I am so very glad it did! Practice Makes Perfect was an absolutely adorable read that left me craving more of Mateo and Morgan.
Mateo and Morgan are best friends, both of them unlucky in love, but it's Mateo who feels the sting of rejection most. He's so desperate to understand what he's doing wrong, he comes up with the idea of a little role-play practice with Morgan. The more he thinks about it, though, the more he starts noticing things like the smaller boy's thick thighs, and soon he's running out to buy his best friend a sweater, skirt, and panties.
What made this such a sweet read was the innocence of the two boys. They're both so naive, so tentative in their movements, that you can't help but cheer on their mutual awakening. Soon enough, sweet gives way to sensual, with sensual giving way to smutty, before the story reaches a delicious climax that had my heart racing. I need more of these boys, I need to see them hit that home run, so please preorder, read, review, and let Ryder know we need more!
Sweet, smutty & sexy. This is my first time reading a Ryder Ocox book and oh my gosh this was everything. Novellas usually move too quick for me and there’s no explanation of characters or how they got there but this one…oh boy, there was enough back story where it didn’t just feel like smutt but still enough smutt to keep you hooked and reading on. I also loved the two main characters and thought their friendship really helped make this book so enjoyable. If you’re looking for a short spicy read that’s Mm then you need to read this!
Mateo hasn’t had much luck with girls so he asks his friend Morgan to role play his fake gf and to tell him where he’s going wrong. Morgan isn’t really keen on doing it as he tells Matty he’s not into guys but Matty convinces him and even buys him a cute girly outfit but when it all plays out they both bring out unexpected feelings for each other . Quick fun gay awakening hope to get more from Matty & Morgan I’d like to see where their relationship goes.
This is a short story about two best friends Morgan and Matteo. The two of them can't seem to maintain a romantic relationship. Out of desperation, Matteo suggested something that might change the status of their relationship.
I am not that much of a fan of short stories or novella because I feel like there is no build up with the story or romance. On this case, it wasn't that bad because it was just focused on one event and there's a bit of a 'build up'.
This was okay-ish but a few lines were cringey. And heads up because this one is definitely nsfw.
If you're looking for a short read, this one is okay and it only has 44 pages (according to my kindle app).
Mateo and Morgan were so adorably awkward and sweet together. Mateo is tired of being dumped so he decides he needs to "practice" being a good boyfriend. The only safe outlet is his best friend Morgan.. Morgan reluctantly agrees but Mateo takes it one step further and gets a whole outfit for the occasion. When he sees Morgan rocking it, it stirs up all kinds of erotic desires. Mateo takes a dominant stance and Morgan absolutely revels in it. This was sweet, tender and downright dirty. I would absolutely love from these two.
Such a cute novella! I loved how organically the whole storyline played out! The characters were both so afraid of their insecurities, but they both love each other for those insecurities. I would love to read more about them!
First, I want to thank Ryder O. Cox for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.
Ohh YES!! Ryder O. Cox is a creative genius writing Practice Makes Perfect!! It is an extremely fun, easy short read that is totally out of the box. I have not read anything like this before! The storyline was so new, fresh, fast paced, addicting, and I didn’t want it to end. There needs to be more to their story.
While reading it I kept thinking where in the world did Ryder get the inspiration to create this one of a kind story! This is my first time reading her books and It won’t be the last.
I love how this book is about awakenings and realizations about being your authentic self.
Ryder has a true gift for writing her intimate scenes going from sweet and innocent to intense! Oh to be a fly on the wall for those scenes.
This book may not be for everyone and it does have some triggers in it. However, if you are an open minded reader like me you may want to give it a shot.
Mateo and Morgan at the very start of (what looks like) a pretty serious and kinky relationship.
These two MCs have obviously been checking each other out for a while now. Both have a lot in common and they share many interests, spending a lot of time in each other's company. They also seek each other out for comfort and hugs when either one is dumped by a girl.
But it's Mateo (Matty) that views Morgan in a different light, remarking on how adorable Morgan is when he laughs and how he was totally Mateo's type . Matty feels so much more comfortable with Morgan and he trusts him. I'm certain these feelings are reciprocated by Morgan, there is an understanding between them, a deep friendship.
Is this a gay for only you story? I think it could be - although both characters went all in on their first 'practice' run. I hope readers will have front row seats for the rest of the ride...

3 stars Nice story, Mateo and Morgan are adorable and cute. Way too short, though; I hope the author will consider to expand this story into a full book.
Cute, sexy one shot that is essentially PWP. I would have liked a little epilogue explaining them as a couple with gender play but it was still an enjoyable read for what it was.
This might've been a quick read, but it was absolutely brilliant. I admit, I actually laughed out loud a few times. Cox wove a funny, sexy, sexually explorative story that grabs you from the outset. When I read the blurb, I knew this was going to go one of two ways - I'd hate it or love it, and I absolutely loved it. Mateo and Morgan are great, likeable characters who have found a unique solution to their lack of luck in the love and sex department. I won't spoil anything, but this is one you definitely don't want to miss, and I look forward to reading more by Cox in the future!
The chemistry these two best friends have is just insane! The only issue I have is when book #3 will be released? Please, Ryder, I wanna be able to read their HEA in this lifetime. Dramatic much? LOL! Yeah, but when I finished two and suddenly realized 3 was not yet released, I was like What the fudge! So please, people are waiting for their story! Thank you! <3

This was cute. And fun. And sexy. Two boys dancing around their desires, afraid to ask for what they really want, so they invent this 'practice' session that gives them exactly what they need. I'd love to see where they go next, so fingers crossed for a sequel.
Loved it! They're really cute together! I mean the fact that Morgan loved what Mateo bought really shows that they're on the same wavelength. I can't wait to see how their relationship progresses!!
