Barely surviving the loss of my witch, I awake to find Charlie, Zaide and I are captured, caged and filthy. We don’t know what the witches want with us but at least we are together as we plan our escape.
Charlie is my new witch and our bond grows stronger by the hour but Zaide is distant, lost in his thoughts, and I worry that something went wrong when he saved me.
When my dreams are invaded by the beautiful son of the gods, Baelen, he offers to help us escape. His red eyes enchant me, and his bite is intoxicating but he swears me to secrecy about his visit.
As a last resort, I use my newfound power to save us, but cause calamitous consequences that work in the favor of our captors. A new evil rises. The supernatural community is under threat. And as secrets unfold, my past comes back to bite me… literally.
Alba Lockwood is a debut author who writes reverse harem, paranormal romance and fantasy.
When she isn’t writing about cats, witches, Gods and other realms, you can find her losing sleep reading books from other amazing authors such as Katie May, Raven Kennedy, Tate James and Jaymin Eve.
Wow, we were last left our heros exposed trying to save Clawdia. But when she awakes things start get getting more heated. Visits by demigods in dreams, dragons stealing magical powers. Fate tieing her past life with her present. What more can this story do? Well to much if I tell you now you won't want to read. A boy this book needs you to read it.

Catatonic is the second book in the "Tales of a Witch's Familiar", and it only took me seconds to fall in love with these characters again. I usually refuse to pick favorites, but I can't help but adore Charlie! He makes these books so much fun! Somewhere in the book, Zaide says to him: "You usually like humor with your traumatic experiences", and that is the best way ever to explain how a big part of this book feels like. Even though they experience some bad stuff, Charlie always adds his own brand of humor to them. It's a sign of this author's art that she knows how to masterfully combine possibly triggering stuff with humor, without ever losing one or the other. They mix together so wonderfully that they add to the story instead of taking something away.
This book is filled with action and suspense, battles, new characters (including a new mate), surprising revelations, relationship building, spice, humor, ... I swear this series has it all, and I can't wait to see what will be next for these characters!
I'm glad I gave the second book a chance because the writing has improved significantly. This one was not as maudlin, and the fast-paced action kept me on my toes. I was also very happy to dive deeper into Zaide's story, and the biggest twist caught me completely off guard!
However, I found the FMC really frustrating due to her poor decisions that put her loved ones in danger. Honestly, the entire warehouse scene made me feel like this FMC is too stupid to live. On the bright side, Charlie's humour kept me laughing, and Zaide's devotion was truly heartwarming. Additionally, the way the harem is formed in this series is really unique, featuring soul mates and soul bond, witch and familiar.

Finally continuing on with the series! There is... a lot going on here. The relationships also seems a bit fast to me, but overall it is a really entertaining book.
I am not surprised that I loved this book just as much as her first! This book has everything you could want in a fantasy romance tied up in Alba's original take on a witch's familiar FMC, witches, demons, Gods, and more! Catatonic picked up where Catalyst ended, letting us know how Clawdia survived, gave us more background into characters we already know & love, added new characters, more relationship building with a new love interest, action packed battles, new evils and quite a bit of humor (love Charlie & his ability to make everyone laugh)!!!
I am excited to continue on this journey with Clawdia and her men and cannot wait to see what comes next!!!
Catatonic, Alba Lockwood's follow up to Catalyst, continues where we left off and again throws the group into deadly danger. This has everything in it, banter, humour, fighting, spice, a new romance character, and twists and turns to keep you hooked. I loved Charlie in this book, protective towards Clawdia but also comedically funny, I loved it, looking forward to Catapult.
The first thing I want to say is "OH MY GOD HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!" to the Author Alba Lockwood. If you are thinking by my statement the book ends on a cliffhanger you would be correct.
This would be only one of a few books that the second book in the series that exceeded the first book.
Clawdicat is still amazing, and she is coming into her own, and learning about the magic she and her titan share. And while I love Clawdicat, I have to say my joy in the story comes from a simple old magic witch named Charlie, who is learning about being a witch.
I won't go any further because I do not want to spoil this book. But trust me when I say if you thought things were insane in the first book, boy you have no idea where she is taking you on this ride through her mind.
Alba Lockwood, I am not known for my patience when it comes to books and I have to say the next book needs to come out now because I need to know what you are going to do with this crazy gang of misfits who seem to be perfect together!
These guys cannot catch a break. The only real breather they get is being locked in a cage. So none. The main four are interesting and I like how their relationships and powers are growing and changing. And I really am enjoying spending time reading their journeys.
It feels almost like are too many side characters and plots going on. It's beginning to get overwhelming and I hope it can be tightened up or streamlined a bit in the next book. There is a lot of action and worlds and lore which is fun though.
There are definitely some secondary characters that feel like they have outlived their usefulness. One of whom is greedy and untrustworthy and would sell out the main four in half a heartbeat if given a chance and I really am not interested in anymore side plots with him.
Woo boy this series is getting hot! I especially love Clawdicat because she is coming into her own and Charlie is too because he is learning that he is a witch and now is learning his powers along with getting to know more about his new friends and new relationships but it does end on a cliffhanger but for this series I will wait with bated breath for the next installment because Alba Lockwood is awesome and I love how she writes a story.

First thing to note is that it ends on a gods be damned cliffhanger. I hate that shit. Hate it, can't stand it, and that should absolutely be in the blurb. Unless the publishing dates are within a few days or maybe weeks of each other. Then it's not a huge deal. As it stands I will not be continuing with the series. It just isn't worth dealing with a series of unknown length and cliffhangers.
I love that this book is on the more unique side of things and it is why I wanted to read it. After reading book 1 I knew I liked the writing of the author so I got the second book. The harem continues to grow and dare I say I loved this book even more then the first. Shhh it doesn't happen often but here I think this one I really do. The characters all are unique and I love the way you can really tell the difference. I can't wait for book 3.
So much happened. It feels like crap is coming from all sides to them and they just need to find a way out. It all seems impossible. There wasn’t much to balance the negative in this book, it gave me major anxiety. I did love the multiple povs. It opened each character up in a way that made you fall in love with each of them. Their pasts coming to light makes my heart break for them.
I am so glad that I saw this series recommended in the reader group loving her harem right now, but wondering if more will be added. Here's also hoping she gets a shifter in the mix.
I am quite enjoying the storyline, and dang, do I want to see that wicked witch get whats coming to her... not to mention the big baddy!
I love the story and characters. The growing harem, and how they are all learning to be okay with the type of relationship. Virgins experiencing smexy times with each other. So much happened it was hard to put the book down. That cliffhanger...I need to know what happens next. I am loving this story and it has so much potential.
Alba continues tells us the history of Clawdia, Zaide, Charlie and theis friends. And we meet a new interesting characters in this book. I had fun a lot with this book. There is a lot of action and so much funny moments. I recommend you read this series. Waiting for the next book.

Great sequel in the Tales of a Witch's Familiar series, it has what I was hoping for based on the previous book. The character worked well overall and I was glad I got to read this book and continue this world.

I feel like this installment was a little rushed. There were a lot of mistakes, where I don't remember any in the first book. The pacing was iffy and the plot dragged in some places and rushed in others. But overall, it was still just as fun as the first book and I'm glad the romance is finally progressing a bit. I eagerly await the third installment.
I adore these characters new and old. They are incredible and some have so much humor. It is a wonderful second book of the series. It has suspense and action, along with a few surprises and revelations.
fmcs stupidity really made me not enjoy this book as much as i wanted to. i understand she is supposed to be altruistic and empathetic. but in the great words of taylor swift “never be so kind you forget to be clever.”
Really like this book. It had just enough spice mixed in the plot. I kind of saw the big reveal coming but I was still surprised by a lot of the plot twists. The relationship between Clawdia and her men is one of my favorite parts of this series. I can't wait for the next book to come out!
Defintely enjoyed this more than the first, and like how the character progression and world building is increasing. The FMC is still not my favourite, and I do skim some of her lengthier POVs but overall really like the unique take on the paranormal genre.
This picks up immediately after the events of that evil cliffhanger in book 1 haha.
I knew immediately I was going to love Baelen.. phew!
I absolutely love Charlie and Zaide's banter. They are just hilarious together.
Clawdia is struggling to navigate her human emotions which is amplified by the return of someone from her past. The character development is done so well.
These books have a bit of everything: humour, action, serious topics and spice!! Good all rounders.
But Alba!!! Not another cliffy! Stop doing this to me! Looking forward to starting book 3.
