Amethyst de Burgh has been sent by the archbishop as assistant to her uncle, the master mason in building a castle for the border lord, Marcus Montclair. She has always dreamed of this opportunity, but knows a woman in this position would not be accepted if it wasn't for the sealed and stamped missive giving the order, sent by the Archbishop himself.
Marcus is not pleased when a woman shows up saying she is the new assistant to his master mason. And when his father arrives with a missive from the king, things only get worse. Now he's expected to marry the girl when she challenges his every word.
With his castle unfinished and his defenses low, he knows it won't be long before the Scots come over the border and they are attacked. But facing the enemy isn't half as challenging as dealing with his new wife.
A hardened border lord and a headstrong woman are forced to work together to change their ways. And in the process they learn that things are not always as they seem . . . in Amethyst, Book 4, the last book of the Daughters of the Dagger Series. (Watch for their brother's story, Onyx, coming in December as the first book in the Scottish, MadMan MacKeefe trilogy.)

This is a good book and the fourth one of the series. The characters are all interesting, the plot is straightforward, and the premise is getting the border castle built and showing the owner of the castle that women are not as useless as he proclaims. I do recommend this book.
Eighteen year old Lady Amethyst has a gift for castle building but as a mere woman is going to have difficulty in getting Lord Marcus to respect her prowess. The situation is then muddied when the King and his father decree that they should marry. Marcus is a hardened warrior who has suppressed his gentler side, can Amethyst draw it out and find a man to both respect and love? Amethyst is a feisty and likeable character, Marcus much less so, though as his attitude improves so does his character. Amethyst in future though will have to take charge of the purse strings if she doesn’t want to live in poverty as it is clear that Marcus likes the finer things and has absolutely no idea of budgeting! I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book gifted by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Amethyst, book four of The Daughters of the Dagger series by Elizabeth Rose, is a unique tale of a young woman sent to be the assistant to her uncle, the master Mason building the borderland castle for Marcus Montclair. Marcus was raised to follow the rules, and he’s not happy the Archbishop sent a female to assist his master Mason. He’s even more unhappy, when she challenges him at every turn, and when his father shows up with a missive from the king, indicating he should marry her. Watching this story unfold and watching the struggles of Amethyst to earn the respect of Marcus for what she is capable of when she steps in to help her uncle. And what a great ending to this fabulous story! I listened to the audiobook narrated by Brian J Gill, and he was fabulous!
I listened to the audiobook of this story. Narration was wonderful. This story is about the last sister in The Daughters of the Dagger series and is exciting. Amethyst is sent to the north to help her Uncle build a castle. Of course, this is not a job for a Lady, but Amethyst is so excited about this adventure. She so loves working with her Uncle, even when she meets the border Lord Marcus. He hates women and tells her as much, and orders her to the kitchens. Nay, she will not go. I think they have both met their match. Watch as everything unfolds and more than sparks fly between them.
Amethyst is a feisty female when she takes on Lord Marcus while helping her Uncle build a castle. Definitely not a position for a dainty female in a male dominated world. More problems arise when Lord Marcus's father arrives as he has even less tolerance for females. There is action aplenty when the Scots attack and Amethyst finds herself in the middle of the battle. As always there is humour and a great lead in the the next series Madman MacKeefe Onyx. Recommended.
A young woman, only wanting to learn more about castle construction, thanks to her uncle's educating her in the various processes required. However, in the time period, having a female in such a situation was extremely provocative, and did not endure her to the Lord of the manor. Further other interference from others causes an interesting saga.
Amethyst, fourth and last book in Daughters of the Daggers series. Amethyst the last daughter not married. I actually loved this book.. The author put in a twisted turn where she wraps it all up for the dagger daughters. a broken soon to be rich warlord and a lady wanting to be free of not marrying ,also building in her passion a castle from the floor down, coming to life. page turner !!!!!!
This last book in the series was just great as the other three. Each story has their own tale with the women being very strong and their love even stronger. All Elizabeth's books are wonderful.
This is the final Daughter in this Series and it's pretty interesting to see all the things she goes through to be accepted in a man's position of work in that day in time. It's funny to hear her give the backpack that she gets. Great book.
Loved it. Wonderful story of a women who refuses to follow the rules a pursue "women's" duties, but instead wants to build a castle. When the opportunity arise she meets the challenge and in so doing also finds her true love.
This is one of my favourite books of the series Amethyst is a feisty female she is head strong as the border lord and the chemistry between them is tangible You won’t regret reading it
Amethyst the 4th book in the series, she helps her uncle being his assistant to masonry for a border lord castle. She is as head strong as the border lord and the chemistry is strong.
This is one of my favorite series!😁 I have read them several times. Highly recommended! I also love the Scottish series that follows. Read them all if you like medieval romance.
