A really brief account of Louisiana, at some points feeling like a National Geographic publication, at others a tourist book, in others a general history of the state. As a result, the author never gets deeply into anything. It's not terrible, but it's not great either. Much of the history is extremely simplistic and racial issues are often described in a "both sides" narrative. Solid 2 stars for what that's worth.
