Alastair Stone has already paid off two of the three favors he owes his ancestor Aldwyn.
He expects the third to be big, but he has no idea how big.
Aldwyn reveals he has another scion—a man the dragon has sensed, but never been able to locate.
He wants Stone to find him.
The shocks don’t end there, though. Stone soon discovers the mysterious scion is a lot more familiar than he expected—which leaves him with a dilemma.
Does he obey the oath he swore to Aldwyn and deliver the scion to him?
Or does he take a chance and join forces with the only man he knows who has a chance to help him take the dragon down once and for all?
Before he can make that choice, though, he has to find the scion. That’s hard enough—but when he succeeds, he’s thrown into a horrific series of events the two of them must survive before they can even think about Aldwyn.

Stone was charged to find the missing scion and he put together that it could be Harrison so travelled to Calanar to find such a calamity! He and Harrison had to unravel what happened and Stone had to come back to Earth while Harrison had to fix what happened in Calanar. Now they must deal with Aldwyn and it won't be easy! Can they defeat the wily dragon? Or will he defeat Stone AND have another and stronger scion at his fingertips? What a fantastic story! Loved how both worlds came together in this one! And so many ways this one could yet go! Harrison is now known to the dragons and what can happen is up in the air!
Things just cracked wide open. By the end of this book, you'll see what I mean. But this story, in and of itself, is pivotal, answering questions, confirming some of my personal hypotheses, and opening possiblities for Stone's future that...well, the sky's the limit. Most of all, it was great fun to have Stone and Harrison back together. I wish we could see one long sequence of this tale from the Harrison/Calanar side at some point. That would be problematic, for various reasons, but I can wish, right? Meanwhile, enjoy this very meaty bite of Stone's World. Mmmm, dragon...tasty.
Talk about how much we've loved Alistair after 31 books is a tribute to how amazing our author is with this world she has built for us. This book opened up so many questions we've had for a while. Oh my gosh this was amazing and I can't wait until the next one!! There's so many directions and questions still.....i love this entire series and all the awesome characters in it!!
I don't think it's fair to have too wait a year for the next book but you control that part! As always this book was excellent going on to book32. I don't think I have ever read any other sieres as good and well thought out as this one. I love the people and the animals and the stories in each book! Thank you very much for sharing your gift and imagination with all of us
Definitely happy with this story. Loved the bringing together of two of my favorite characters. The fact that it looks like they will be working together again is fantastic. So I'm definitely looking forward to the next book. So many possibilities 🙂
This is one of my favorite Stone books. R.L. King has a way of telling a short story “book” but also having a much longer one over several books. This book brings about a conclusion to a longer, ongoing strife that Alistair had with his relative (a Dragon). Very well told and we get to see some characters that we miss from previous books. An Excellent read.
Now I understand why the Calanar series exists! If you haven't read them, please read that series before you read Stone 31, it will make a lot more sense. As Dr. Stone says, "Brilliant!".
By far the best book in the series, a magnificent triumph of storytelling with high drama, multiple threads, and a rollercoaster journey between dimensions and story arcs. Bravo, author, bravo!
R. L. King continues to create interesting problems to challenge her MC, Alastair Stone, and interesting ways for him to solve them. After 31 episodes, the characters continue to change and grow and the stories continue to be intertaining.
This next installment of the Alistair Stone series is, as always, engaging and interesting. It does an excellent job of wrapping up the Aldwyn / Stone binding oath series with an intriguing look at what’s to come next!
This is another great book in a long series. The characters are imaginative and varied and the plots are interesting, with plenty of twists and turns. I've thoroughly enjoyed every book in the series.
This one had me turning pages quicker than before a captivating story that takes you to the next level. I would highly recommend this book and all the books in the series.
Another great Stone novel. This one had me on the edge of my seat for quite a while. I thoroughly enjoyed where the story went and what could happen in the future.
One of the better ones. I do recommend Lost Scion. When she writes about the character her stories are so much better than when she writes about demons and goals
I loved the re-emergence of characters from past books! It will be interesting to see what these two associates will get up to in future installments. As usual the epilogue leaves us fans wanting the next book to come out yesterday. Thanks for the great read. Can’t email for the audiobook and book 32!!
I was worried about this book since I hadn’t finished the Calanar series. I tried to read the first book of the series, but it was too dark and dreary for me. Plus, Harrison didn’t show up until the end of the book. I needn’t have worried. The author did a great job of telling us what little we needed to know from the other series. This book brings back Trevor Harrison, as enigmatic as always, early on. At the end we get even more long missed characters. I look forward to the new dynamics that were set up.
