Being accused of murdering a client isn’t good for business.
Tropical islands are popular for destination weddings. But Le Cadeau Île won’t be a popular destination for long if Detective Noa Tanielu can’t find out who is responsible for a ring of thefts occurring during weddings. When the thefts escalate to the murder of a bridezilla, the most likely suspect is the new wedding photographer.
Wedding photographer Haley Marsh moved to the island to nurse her broken heart and start over after being dumped two days before her wedding. When she’s moved from the suspect list to the target list, a little white lie leads to a fake engagement. With Haley’s connections to the wedding business, it’s clear the key to solving this case lies in keeping up the charade.
Noa and Haley must navigate the investigation and Noa’s mother’s attempts to make the engagement all too real…if they survive that is.
Take a trip to the Suamalie Islands where palm trees sway, the sand and sea pulse with life, and the people will steal your heart.
This exciting romantic Suspense had me gripped from the first chapter. It reminded me of Death in Paradise, it would make a fascinating episode. There was a lot of action as Haley became a target & Noa was protecting her. The chemistry between Haley & Noa was interesting. I liked the Christian input too. I highly recommend this great read I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the author & I am writing a voluntary honest review.
Tropical Target was an incredible read. Wedding photographer Haley Marsh is arrested for the murder of a bride on the bride's wedding day. When the evidence clears Haley of any wrongdoing, she immediately becomes the killer's target ranging from break ins to attempts on her life. Detective Noa Tanielu, who had arrested Haley, is investigating a ring of thefts happening during weddings that may be tied to the bride's murder while tracking down the killer. I enjoyed the storyline that included the impromptu fake engagement ruse that Haley and Noa had while investigating. There were danger, tense moments, and action as well as struggles that both Haley and Noa had from their past. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Tropical Target is a great beach read! The author does a great job keeping this romantic suspense lighthearted and fun…. which is quite the feat when murder and mayhem is involved. I genuinely enjoyed the characters of Noa and Haley and their chemistry. I can’t even put my finger on what made them so likable in my book, but they just were and I found myself smiling at their happy ending.
Jennifer Pierce deserves five stars for this well written story in the beach book category. It’s a great way to way to while away a few hours in the Sumalie Island escaping reality!
I did receive an advance copy of this book from the publisher but all opinions are my own. I did not promise to write a positive review in return for the copy of the book, nor would I ever make such a commitment.
Tropical Target by Jennifer Pierce was a really great read. Loved how Noa and Haley met. Then they have to work together to solve a crime, I won't say what kind, but this book was a real page turner. I enjoyed it immensely.
I received this ARC free from the author(s), and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.
Tropical Target is part of the Sumalie Island series of stories. The stories are independent of each other and do not need to be read in order. Within the series there is some overlap with characters in other books and with characters in the Independence Island series. However, I did not notice any character overlap with the latest addition to the series - Tropical Target. Even though the story takes place on the same island as a previous book, there were no characters I recognized. Jennifer Pierce has definitely written a stand alone novel. I believe this is the first book she has written for either of the series created by Celebrate Lit Publishing. Tropical Target is a murder mystery - not a light romance you might expect if you’ve read other books in the two series. There is romance but it is a murder that brings the characters together. Haley is a photographer who moved to the Suamalie Islands while recovering from a broken relationship. She is the photographer at the wedding where the bride is murdered. Noa is a Samoan on the island’s police force. He is the first police officer on the scene of the murder. The relationship starts with a lot of friction between the two characters but as they work together and there are attempts on Haley’s life, they grow to be friends. Spoiler - The book ends with a proposal so I hope that the characters of this story will show up in future books in the Suamalile Island series. While there Tropical Target is an adult contemporary romance, I do not remember anything in the book (other than the murder) which might prohibit the book from being added to a K-12 Christian school library. High schoolers would probably enjoy the book. I received a complimentary copy of Tropical Target. This is my honest review.
This is the first book I have read by Jennifer Pierce, and I tried it because it's part of the Suamalie Island Series, which I've enjoyed in the past. Tropical Target is Book 8 in the series. The story revolves around Detective Noa Tanielu's investigation into a series of thefts and a murder during the ever-popular destination weddings on Le Cadeau Île.
The plot introduces wedding photographer Haley Marsh, who moves to the island to escape the heartache of her wedding that never happened. When she becomes a suspect, and then a target in the case, a fake engagement becomes her unlikely ally. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that the resolution of the mystery hinges on maintaining this charade.
Throughout the book, I felt like I was on a journey to the Suamalie Islands. The author does a great job of vividly describing the island with palm trees, vibrant beaches, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The story also touches on the complexities of relationships, including Noa's interactions with his mother.
I enjoyed the author's engaging writing style. She skillfully weaves together the elements of romance and mystery. The book provided a compelling narrative that kept me intrigued from start to finish, making it a great addition to the Suamalie Island Series.
Note: I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit for review. I was not compensated for my review, nor was I expected to give a positive review. I have given my honest review.
This book immediately begins with a suspenseful event that occurs during an upscale wedding at a popular venue in the beautiful Suamalie Islands. Haley Marsh, the wedding photographer, suddenly finds herself thrown into unexpected events that completely derail her plans for her business and her life. As Haley is drawn deeper in the mystery, she finds herself the target of a murderer. Detective Noa Tanielu is doing all that he can to both protect Haley and quickly bring the criminal to justice. The two agree to a fake engagement in order to further investigate the crimes that have been taking place in many of the wedding venues on the islands. The idea of a real engagement becomes a thought as their hearts draw closer together, but before that can happen, they must escape from the danger that seems to be encompassing both of them. I loved the way I was immediately drawn into the story in a way that I did not expect. I liked both the main characters and I was hoping that the two would develop a relationship. The author did a great job of keeping a suspenseful pace all throughout the book, as well as allowing the reader to get to know and care about the characters. This was an intriguing storyline and I’m hoping that this author will write another book in this series set in the Suamalie Islands. I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Jennifer Pierce delivers a sweet, clean romance with gripping suspense in this beautiful novel set in the Suamalie Islands.
I loved the intrigue and suspense as Haley and Noa are thrust together in the middle of a police investigation. This includes a great twist on the fake fiancé trope too!
The romance unfolds slowly and seamlessly in the context of the suspense elements in the book. The suspense is engaging and kept my interest with really creative twists that seemed plausible.
I highly recommend this book for fans of Christian Romance, clean romance, and suspense romance. It’s a must-read and I look forward to reading more books by this author.
Genre: Christian Romance Suspense, Christian Contemporary Romance Series: Stands on its own Location: Suamalie Islands Romance: Very clean. Light kissing. Faith: Some praying, church attendance sprinkled throughout.
Disclaimer: I requested and received an advanced copy of this book courtesy of the publisher through Celebrate Lit Tours. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own.
Tropical Target by Jennifer Pierce is part of the Suamalie Islands series and is a Christian Contemporary Suspense novel. After being dumped two days, wedding photographer Haley Marsh moved to the island to nurse her broken heart and start over. When a murder occurs at a wedding she was shooting, she goes from being the main suspect to a witness needing protection.
Detective Noa Tanielu works to find thieves who target weddings and ultimately murder someone. As the two interact, you can not keep reading to see where the author will take you. One of my favorite characters was Noa’s mother – even before I knew she was his mother. The characters’ deep family connections and faith in God make this story worth reading.
So, if you enjoy island-setting stories or Christian Contemporary Suspense novels, check out Tropical Target by Jennifer Pierce for yourself. I definitely recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
Tropical Target is written by Jennifer Pierce. This is book 8 in the Suamalie Island series. The series is written by multiple authors. They are all tied together by the island theme. This book is a romantic suspense.

Detective Noa has been working the ring of thefts at weddings. When one bride is murdered he’s gotta find out who is responsible. It soon becomes clear that Hayley isn’t a suspect but a victim and a target. He needs to keep her safe.
They decide the best way to get the culprit is to plan a wedding. Every turn they make there’s someone trying to stop them.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
Tropical Target, by Jennifer Pierce, is book eight book in the Suamalie Island series. This is a series of stories written by different authors that are based in the Suamalie Islands. This is an enjoyable easy to read story that is filled with action, suspense and mystery. I enjoyed the characters in this story, from photographer Haley, her employee, Detective Noa, his mother and relatives. Noa and his family are quick to accept Haley into his family while he investigates the murder and wedding thefts. I found the parts of the different parts of Haley’s business interesting. This is nice story to get lost in that kept me reading to get to the very end.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.
Again , when I started this book I was not sure I would like it because it was about murder and it kept being about attempted murder but again I was wrong. I loved this book. It was different than the other island books in this series. This is a story about a second chance for love for Haley. She was heart broken after her fiancé two days before their wedding and then she was in a wrong place just trying to do her job and was arrested. This book definitely kept me turning the pages. The ending had a surprise I didn’t see happening as well as something I seen coming. I recommend this book if you like mysteries and romance in the same book.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.
Haley Marsh never realized when she went to take wedding pictures for her client that she would end up a murder suspect before the night was over. When Noa, the detective on the case, realizes Haley is not a murderer and goes into protective mode when Haley becomes a target.
This is my first book read by Jennifer Pierce. She did a phenomenal job on this story from cover to cover. This beach girl gives this story 5 stars. I loved this story.
I received an advanced reader copy from the author. Opinions are my own.
Tropical target is book 8 in the suamalie island series and my first book of Jennifer pierces, can definitely be read as a standalone, I didn't feel "lost" at all just jumping in.
This was a good read and won't be my last by her! A good clean romantic suspense read that makes you feel like you're right there on the beach, the author is so descriptive and really makes you feel like you're there which is fun. The action starts pretty early on and keeps it up all the way through, definitely a page turner !
I really enjoyed this book. The action began in the first chapter and never let up. It had me guessing from page to page. Haley and Noa had so much chemistry together and I loved their relationship. I also really related to Noa's struggle to forgive his dad for leaving them. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense, mystery and romance.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest review.
Perfect title. Haley cannot escape her unfortunate role as target practice. As a local photographer, she stumbles into a crime ring where no one would want to land.
Get ready for a suspenseful read. Theft, guns, murder, kidnapping. It's all there on the beautiful island of Le Cadeau Ile. Will the tropical island ever be a peaceful paradise again? You will have to read and find out in this installment of the Suamalie Islands series.
A fast paced, clean suspense filled story. An unlikely pair are the key to a murder and a large theft ring and become targets as they try to find answers. Jennifer Pierce includes a brief look at Samoan culture that adds special spice to the story and its lush background. Clear your calendar so you can read this fascinating story to the end!
A great mystery romance story with a unique plot. Good characters and enough description that it feels like you are there in Suamalie. This was a new to me author, and I liked this story. I received a copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
Tropical Target, by Jennifer Pierce, had chaos, murder, and mystery within the opening chapter of this book located in the Suamalie Islands. This book was well-written, and filled with many twists and turns that I did not expect. Haley Marsh is not a native to the area, but she made her living through her passion: photography. She finally opened her own shop and hired her first employee, Talia, as business had picked up gradually. To assist her bottom line, Haley also took on projects as the photographer at local weddings. As the book opened, after an incident with her camera, the bride struck out, completely angry, after the vows were said. Once Haley caught up with her, she saw the bride bleeding on the floor of the reception hall. Noa Tanileu, an officer of the Law on this Suamalie Island, as well as security at this wedding, arrested Haley with the suspicion that she was the murderer. Shortly after that, he admitted that was an error in judgement, even though that was where the first evidence was pointed. All throughout the book, danger surrounded Haley and Noa, especially as he tried to keep her safe. In the interest of keeping her alive, a scheme was concocted for their engagement. It was decided that to find answers and clues, they should pretend to be going through the motions of planning a wedding. Yet, one alarming thing after another occurred, and slowly their emotions began to become real for one another. They began to worry about the root cause of the case, and if it would ever be solved.
I began to see alternatives that could be responsible for some of the problems at hand. Somewhere along the way, the truth was finally cast out for the authorities and Islanders to know. Hope eternal becomes implanted within their hearts and a seed of truth bounds them together. Along with a faith that will stand the test of time, answers filled in the questions that they had. This book was given to me to read for my honest opinion, by the author. In my opinion, Tropical Target was well written and had plenty of excitement. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars!
I really enjoyed the warm atmosphere of Le Cadeau Ile, where the people were welcoming and cherished family values.
2. What do potential readers need to know most about the main character?

I LOVE Christian Contemporary Romance books and I enjoy books that are a part of a series. Tropical Target by Jennifer Pierce is Book 8 in the Suamalie Islands series which is written by Various authors. I have read a few books in this series and was excited to read this one too.
We are back on Suamalie Island and it is Wedding Season. Detective Noa Tanielu is trying to solve the mystery of why so many thefts are happening during the recent Weddings on the Island. Now he must discover who killed a bride before her wedding. Haley Marsh is the new Wedding Photographer for the Island Weddings and she also just moved to the Island. She loves her job as a Photographer and moved to the Island to try to start a new chapter as she is heartbroken after being dumped just days before her wedding. Haley is the one who discovers the body and is arrested for Murder. After an initial investigation, it is determined she is not the Suspect but the Target. Detective Noa now goes into Protection mode and wants to keep Haley safe. Haley and Noa are now working together to solve the Mystery of who killed the Bride and who the Thief is. Haley and Noa pretend to be engaged and it is a good "cover-up" for the investigation with Haley being in the Wedding Business. Will Noa and Haley solve the crimes? Will there be a love connection between Noa and Haley?
WOW, this book certainly is an Action-Packed book! I was captivated by the storyline from the very first chapter. Noa and Haley are great characters and I love how they immediately become connected. The "fake engagement" and "wedding" was a great plot to capture the Thief and potential Killer. I love that the author includes the Faith aspect in the book. This book is about Mystery, Suspense, Romance and Faith. I am looking forward to more books in this series! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance with Suspense books! FANTASTIC BOOK!
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I am enjoying these books in the Sumalie Island series and this one was just as enjoyable as the others I have read. Tropical Target starts off with Detective Noa Tanielu trying to find who is stealing items from weddings taking place on the island. And though this Island is famous for its weddings, but maybe not for long if these thefts going on. Being new on the Island, all fingers pointed to the wedding photographer in town. Get ready for a most enjoyable journey as the ups and downs of this case comes to light.
Tension is rising on this island as the case continues. I think author Jennifer Pierce does a really nice job researching and writing this story. I was hooked within the first few pages. The island people didn’t know how to function with this case hot on the wedding photographer’s trail. There is a lot of action and mystery here that will sure keep you reading the book pretty fast till the end. The vivid details describing the island are fabulous and makes me want to go for a visit. We’ll, except for the expensive living there. The details of the case were interesting, and I didn’t figure out Whodunit until it was revealed. Sometimes, I figure them out, but not this one! I highly recommend this book if you enjoy wedding stories with a twist. This is one you won’t forget for a while. I’m giving Tropical Target by Jennifer Pierce four stars.
A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
The leading lady is a photographer, so I had to read this story. I connected to Haley instantly, because I have been in that business and photographed many weddings. I love how the author did that so well with her. Winding up dodging a crime ring, woah. Not to mention Noa has her as the main suspect, because of what she's been through in her past. This had a good bit of suspense, a good who-done-it, and a well-crafted and growing romance. The faith elements are worked it, but not pushed and I'd say healing from your past is the theme here. The author did a great job on taking me away to the island and I would read more by this author. The leading lady is a photographer, so I had to read this story. Thanks to Celebrate Lit for my digital copy of this book. This review is my own and a positive review is never required.
Oh my is this book a definite thriller. From the first pages we get a glimpse of what is to come. I’ve been to many weddings and never experienced anything like Haley did. Who knew being a wedding photographer was dangerous? I didn’t expect such suspense from this series but I am very pleased with the entire book. I couldn’t wait to see who was behind the thefts and why someone was determined to kill Haley.
After being interrogated Haley is found not to be a suspect but that doesn’t stop the continuous threats and attempts on her life. The detective in charge of the case seems to have taken a special interest in Haley. Noa finds himself in an unlikely predicament when a small miscommunication has his family believing that he and Haley are engaged. He has his hands full investigating while trying to convince his family that there has been a mistake about him being engaged.
The author does such a great job of giving us a story that has intrigue, faith and romance in it that I didn’t want the story to end. I am impressed with the writing skill and how this story was so much fun to read. I will be looking for more books from this author.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
Read this in one sitting. Of course, I was on a plane, but the kids were occupied, so I could go cover to cover almost uninterrupted!
I do not envy Haley! She had a lot on her plate, even before being suspected of murder. Trying to get a new business off the ground in a new (expensive) location, and shouldering guilt over something that was really not her fault.
And now she's got a target on her back. The layers of involuntary difficulties on top of those challenges she actually signed up for would break many people. But Haley would rather help break the case.
And Noa reluctantly lets her, because he knows she's got the best chance of putting the pieces together.
I really like their chemistry, and the way they work together, even though their acquaintance didn't start off on the right foot. They genuinely care about the other's wellbeing, even when it means putting themselves at risk. Well before anything romantic might appear.
The aspect of family/church family looking out for each other is just how it's supposed to be, and that makes me smile!
And speaking of smiles, this quote brought on a full grin and a laugh:
"Her pulse kicked up. Why was her body having this reaction? This was a fake engagement, and she hated love. She was bitter. She needed her heart to remember that."
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, and chose to review it here. All thoughts are my own.
I must have forgotten to review--because I read this book last week!
Even though I have this thread of not liking romantic suspense, I enjoyed this one--because of the setting. I loved learning about a tropical island I'd never heard of--and could have used even more. What did they eat? What was the temperature? How far from one island to another? Curious minds want to know...
The main story concerned a wedding photographer who was accidentally in the wrong place at the wrong time who saw someone she shouldn't have seen. Then, of course, the villain went to incredible lengths the whole story trying to kill her, to shut her up. I always have trouble with these stories because I guess my intelligence kicks in--and asks: why not just change the cologne, stop doing what you were doing for awhile, or, I don't know, maybe not do the crime at all?
But then again, villains can't be that smart or there wouldn't be a story. Enjoy this one for the glimpse of another culture and a strong hero.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, but my opinions are my own and I'm certainly not paid for my reviews. :)
What I think you should know: Tropical Target, a Christian Suspense by Jennifer Pierce is the eighth book in the Suamalie Islands series. The series is Contemporary Christian Fiction set on a fictional set of Islands in the Pacific. The series is written by several authors with stories that have the common connection of the Islands. In this book we go to Le Cadeau Ile to meet Island resident Noa Tanielu and newcomer Haley Marsh.
What you might need to know: A Murder does take place at the beginning of the book.
What I think about this book: This book is definitely not on Island Time! From the first scene to the last it was filled with intrigue and suspense. It was very fun to watch Noa from the moment he found Haley with a body until the end of the story. Haley has come to the Islands for a new stary, but I don’t think this is what she wanted. I really enjoyed the fast pace of this story, but appreciate how the author allowed the characters to interact and grow a relationship. I look forward to more in the series!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
Tropical Target is a sweet romance but also a fun suspense as well. You’re going to love getting to know these characters! I loved getting to know them myself. It was also a fun suspense. It’s suspense but not enough that you’re going to be hiding in your room with the lights all on and the curtains drawn.
There’s thievery afoot. And then there is something else. A murder happens! And our female heroine is suspected of being involved as things happen at weddings she’s part of. So how can they figure out who’s involved?
When the detective in charge of the case and the wedding photographer fake an engagement to see what they can find out things heat up in more ways than one. I really enjoyed this book and the rest of the Sumalie Island series.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
Tropical Target is the eighth installment from the multi author series, Suamalie Islands, and Jennifer Pierce’s contribution to it. This is the first book I have read by this author. After reading this one, it will not be the last. I enjoyed this sweet and romantic tale. I loved getting to know Noa and Haley and I liked them work as a team trying to solve the mystery they are thrown into. I will be giving Tropical Target four and a half stars. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean romance with a beautiful tropical setting. I would love to continue the Sualmalie Islands series with Heidi Gray McGill’s A Deeper Love: Year One, as well as, reading more books from Jennifer Pierce in the near future. I received a digital copy of Jennifer Pierce’s Tropical Target from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
