Fifteen high school freshmen heading toward a French Festival takes a wrong turn on an old North Alabama road. They end up in the small town of Sanguine Creek which looks like it's been lifted from a Norman Rockwell painting. There, a coterie of vampires is planning a ritual hunt, and the students and teachers are elected as the prey. But all is not as it seems as the freshmen include four witchkin students, one of whom will go through his first change that very night.

Sanguinary introduces a new generation of witchkin to the readers including the grandson of Lance McKnight, a weretigress, a fairy, and something yet to be discovered. They

Miranda "Randi" A young weretigress with esper abilities who is trying to live down her mother's legacy.
Vivienne A fairy/Unseelie fey hybrid who is the main target of the vampires as her blood is like a drug to them.
Danann "Dan" A young foster kid with a violent past, and who is going through a first change as he finds himself becoming very possessive.
