The Disciple-Making Leader: Discover Jesus’ Strategy for Raising up Leaders, Growing the Church, and Multiplying a Movement

Rate this book
DISCOVER JESUS’ STRATEGY FOR RAISING UP LEADERS, GROWING THE CHURCH, AND MULTIPLYING A MOVEMENT Many churches today struggle to survive, much less multiply. To counter this issue, Craig Etheredge’s The Disciple-Making Leader helps ministry leaders discover how to raise up disciple-making leaders to multiply the ministry at every level in the organization. Etheredge provides practical steps on how to make and multiply disciple-making leaders. First, he defines discipleship and unpacks Jesus’ clear disciple-making pathway. Next, he looks at the leadership pipeline and how to raise up leaders through every level of an organization. Then he explains how the pathway and pipeline work together to develop a disciple-making leader who can multiply the ministry at every level. Finally, he examines Jesus’ strategy for developing leaders at each stage of the leadership pipeline. Find out how to grow your church with this practical guide to training disciple-making leaders who multiply a ministry. I love that Craig is a practitioner of personal and organizational disciple making. The art of both has been lost on most pastors in America. Jim Putman , senior pastor of Real Life Ministries; author of Real-Life Discipleship I will be mining the wisdom contained in Craig’s lived experience for the rest of my ministry. Greg Ogden , Global Discipleship Initiative; author of Discipleship Essentials This book should be carefully read and discussed by all your leaders. Dann Spader , founder of Sonlife and Concentric Global; author of 4 Chair Discipling , Walk Like Jesus , and Live Like Jesus CRAIG ETHEREDGE is an author and local church pastor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He holds a master of divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a doctor of ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is the president and founder of DiscipleFIRST Ministries, which trains pastors and leaders nationally and internationally, and he is the cofounder of the CrossCreek Network, which plants disciple-making churches all over the world. He also teaches discipleship courses as an adjunct professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Very applicable to anyone in a pastoral role! I serve in a smaller capacity and so much of the second half didn’t apply to me but was still interesting to read and think about how it applies to my pastor and those on staff at my church.

This was fine overall. I didn’t feel like it was earth shattering. I skimmed most of the second half because those elements didn’t apply to me.
