Eruption

Rate this book
An explosive guitarist. A fiery temper. A flame that threatens to die with each meeting…and one slip of the tongue that changes everything.

I get a call late one night about some band that got ripped off. When I get there in uniform, it’s like showing up to class without pants on. My sneers set them back a notch. I’m no groupie. But this one guitarist in glasses, Spex, isn’t afraid of me, so I bite back harder. Later that night, another call arrives, this time it hits home hard. What Spex shows me makes me look twice at him. And it’s a long, hard look. More than that, it’s a look that makes everything else completely different forever. And I don’t think I’m ready for that.

***

We’re being treated like the dirtbags here, but I get the feeling that this Claudia chick uses a broad stroke with people. Doesn’t matter if you’re the guitarist in one of the most popular bands ever. She has a silver tongue but I’ve got ironclad chops. When I follow her to the airport, and back home, having received a mutual call, I realize that her act is just that. My glasses come off and my perspective changes, when I see something in Claudia that I never want to see in myself. My gift to her makes her look twice at me.

…but when the flatline sounds in the Emergency Room, all bets are off.

Spec and Claudia

This enemies to lovers book that grabbed from the start and didn’t let go. Spec and Claudia’s connection was explosive from being at each other’s throat non stop to having some sizzling chemistry. It was a tragedy that affected both of them that began to turn their feelings around. I love rock romances and its always great once in a while to read about “nice” rockers.

Interesting

But I hate the drawn out wait for the conclusion. You forget about the story before because of time . wasn't crazy about the way Claudia was written. She was a hard person to like and the way the story was written felt stiff and way too much in her head for pages, would rather have action then that. I hope this next book explains what's going on with a satisfying ending.

This is book six in The Big Bands, Big Hearts series and it is Spex and Claudia’s story and it is definitely a must read. The band have gone through so much and now Claudia who is a police inspector has arrived to check all there equipment and other items for bugs after the recent incident but Spex and Claudia are at each other’s throats so Spex is taken away from the situation before things can get any worse. Spex and Ted have been friendly for quite a while as Ted is a music reporter and often spent time with Spex but what he didn’t know was that Claudia was Ted’s sister and things go from bad to worse. When Ted dies in a car accident leaving them all in shock and Claudia devastated it is Spex that is there to comfort her but when she visits him things hot up and there strong chemistry can no longer be denied sparks fly and sizzle off the pages but after spending an explosive night together Claudia leaves while Spex is still asleep. When Spex and Claudia meet again they both realise that they have strong feelings for each other and things between them get even more intense and then you get a cliffhanger ending. This series just gets better and better with each book written and I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one sitting and it was so emotional in places that it had me in tears but I still had to keep turning the pages to see what the outcome would be for them all and I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing series.

Thank you to Sandra Alex for providing me with an advanced ebook copy of Eruption for me to read and review. Eruption is the 6th book in the Big Bands, Big Hearts series and it was an excellent continuation of the story involving the rockstars! The 2 characters rhay were the focus of this story were unique, interesting characters with their own fiery dynamic and I was intrigued to see how their chemistry would progress. There were a couple of things in this book that I didn't care for as much. First is something which may be my own personal preference, was the continued use of the word man when characters are speaking to or referring to the female characters of the story. This writing choice appears in a number of Alex's books; it rubs me the wrong way and throws off my reading flow when it happens. Second was the inclusion of a sort of 'teaser' sentence ending each chapter and sometimes ending individual points of view. I wasn't a fan of this as I would rather just discover what is going to happen through reading the story rather than "little did he know...." inclusions. The story itself was good overall though and I am curious to see where the story will go in the next book.

Claudia has had a rough week, has barely slept, she hates all the men at her job and she’s sleeping on her brother’s sofa. To top that she’s taken on a job as a favor and she has to deal with three rock bands. She treats them all pretty badly, especially Spex. Yes he was a little high, and she’s a cop but he really tried to be nice. Spex hasn’t had a great week either but at least he’s tried to be respectful of this cop. They were terrible to each other, yes Claudia was really the one who started it. These two had someone in common who actually bought them together. Spex gets to know Claudia and the ice queen starts to melt. Their chemistry is undeniable, they’re so sweet together. This story, unlike the others has no ups and down. I don’t know why I didn’t feel any connection to Claudia. The ending felt rushed, and it didn’t feel like an ending at all. I’m giving this book three stars.

Spex and Claudia kept me glued to the pages with this exciting story. She is called in to da a favor and as a result gets more than she bargained for. Spex is the only one that isn't afraid of her contempt. She is the sister of the music reporter who follows the groups and when there is an accident involving him it brings Spex and Claudia closer together. This story is filled with emotional twists and turns that will have your heart all over the place and in Spex and Claudia's corner.

Spex and Claudia hate each other. There's a fine line between love and hate, and they walk that line for a good while before deciding which side they want to be on. This is my favorite book in the series (so far). Spex and Claudia have a ton of chemistry. I enjoyed that most of the focus in this book was on them, and I love the little "cliffies" at the end of each chapter. The big cliffhanger at the end of the book... haven't figured that one out yet. Stay tuned for the next installment... I received an advance copy of the book, and this is my honest review.

I'm never quite sure what will happen in this series & how it all connects. The change from hate to attraction is accelerated by the events around Ted but it doesn't feel forced or rushed. It very much feels of the 80s, my only criticism of the writing was the last line teasers, not a fan.

The story of two people who hate each other on sight but prove that sometimes first impressions can be wrong. This rock star series takes us on a journey of what goes on behind the scenes and how lives are changed, love is found and the music continues. A spectacular read and amazing series. I received this ARC and voluntarily give my review,

A good read that I had trouble putting down. A continuation of stories of other band members but this time there is a death and the release of inhibitions.
