They call it Stockholm Syndrome. When you develop positive feelings toward your captor. But I’m a genius. I’m smart, I’m cunning, and I know that would never happen to me…right?
He promised he would find me if I escaped, and Viktor Volkov always keeps his promises. I now have sixty days to say my goodbyes. Sixty days of freedom left before I have to go back to him for good.
A lot can happen in that time.
A lot can change in my untamed heart.
I’m not sure the games I played with Lik, Sam, and Rachel are worth it anymore. Not when my heart feels fractured from their betrayal. But I’ve never been good at staying away from the people who hurt me.
And if they find out my secret… If they learn the truth about me and Viktor… They will never forgive me.
I have sixty days to get myself out of this mess.
Sixty days until we find who of us has the strongest hand. The mightiest card in our dangerous games.

Let me say that at the same time that I love I also didn’t. Idk how I came from 5⭐️ on the first book to 3⭐️ on this second one……. It’s hard to explain but I’ll try. First let me say that I am IN LOVE with Lola King’s writing and I am falling in love with this universe, have said that, this is literally the only reason I’ve read this duet because I want to read all the books in this universe, I KNEW it was why chose/polyamorous relationship and I know they are not my favorite style. I have a few exceptions when I absolute loved and adored a why chose book, but they are very rare to me, most of the times I don’t like it. I love MF, MM, FF, MFM, FMF , I can absolutely do throuple and love many, but somehow I can’t always do why chose. I always get my favorite couple out of the group and I get angry and jealous when they are not dying for each other and are sharing with others. GET IT ? I know, it is weird that I think like this but I can’t help it. For example to me this book had too many people and by too many I mean 2 too many . Two characters there (Lik and Rachel) were very unnecessary to me, I do love them individually but DID NOT want them in a relationship with Sam and Rose. I was annoyed that they were, I was annoyed when Rose was with Rachel or Lik instead of Sam. I was even more annoyed when Sam was with Lik and not Rose. I was BEYOND annoyed when Sam was sweet and said “I love you” to Lik, and also BEYOND annoyed when Rose did the same to Rachel.I know I know …. Make it make sense….. that’s how I felt throughout the entire book. ROSE AND SAM WERE MEANT TO BE! How you get a childhood friends that love each other infinitely and they become enemies to revenge enemies to lovers because they never ever forgot about each other, and than put 2 extra people there FOR WHAT ? Their story was complete, complex, beautiful, crazy and full of angst and sexual tension. SO WHY THE HELL WE HAD TO HAVE LIK AND RACHEL THERE ? I didn’t need them. Was the the smut supreme ? Yes it was. Was the book 80% smut and the plot only came on the last 20%, Yes ! Am I mad about that much smut ? NO OF COURSE NOT. 😂😂😂😂 I love how Rose ended Bianco herself. I wanted more romantic moments between her and Sam. I wanted her to marry all of them or none. I didn’t like the fact that they slept in separate beds Sam with Lik and Rachel with Rose , because if they were a quadruple than fuck sleep all together and marry everyone or no one. So those fucking things annoyed me immensely. Sam parts with her were so cool and so intense, their hate and love for each other was palpable, I almost had a HEART ATTACK when they finally had sex for the first time, it was sooooooo good and intense that i could practically fell the burn through my kindle. So yep this book was 3⭐️ for me. And yes I am been a brat and a hater and if you like why chose you might love it cause the story and the universe are PERFECT!
My Most Expected Read in ‘23 and I was lucky enough to receive an arc. Honestly I’m still processing 😂 This book made me lose sleep, kept me hooked all weekend reading till 2 am! I mean look at me, I’ve literally been walking around all merched up and listening you the book playlist 😂😂Damn… it was INCREDIBLE. I just can’t get over it and ffs how am I supposed to move on from the Rose?! Like that b is the one you ll always be thinking of. What I loved the most was how we really were given the full picture and time to understand their dynamic and everyone s feelings. Ngl I’m in love with all of them and so freaking happy Lola didn’t go for the standard RH. This book has EVERYTHING. The characters are amazing, the plot will make you hold your breath and the banter will make you laugh out loud. Oh yeah and it’s HOT HOT HOT AF.
PS: Lola, no need to call anyone else king, it’s very clear YOU are the KING 👑
I had to force myself to finish this one and Rose was not the problem. I loved her in the previous series and I loved her in this one.
But the other three? Forget it. They claim to love Rose, but spend the entire series trying to dominate her and turn her into somebody she isn't. I think we're supposed to handwave it away...because BDSM. But as much as they promise her that she's only giving up her power in the bedroom, they punish her every time she makes a decision for her own. They don't really like the woman she is and they don't respect her agency. I hated all three of them by the time it got done.
All I have to say is I love my QUEEN ROSE WHITE you just can’t not love her she’s literally the best the most badass and feisty character I’m very happy she got her revenge Did this book had mostly smut and only like 20% plot? Yes and I loved it that way cause I love Lola king’s writing she just keeps us so engaged with the book we got to be obsessed also they all got to know each other and explore their feelings There was so many things in this book that infuriated me but I still kept going for Rose and Rose only I love Sam he’s so dominant and hot and I love Sam and Rose more because they are literally perfect for each other great chemistry angsty past and everything I also liked Lik and Sam their love was so sweet and I even liked Lik , Sam and Rose But Rachel I loved her character so much in the last books but I don’t why I didn’t vibe with her in this one She felt like an odd one in their dynamic
I’m saying this as a person who was shipping Rose and Rachel from the beginning with Rose she’s perfect they make a good couple I think it’s my opinion ig I just feel she doesn’t fit with the three of them But it was okay cause she became stronger and was more badass
Now more about Sam and Rose omg when they finally kissed it was so explosive I was jumping they are so good together
“When forever ends and the world stops spinning. When the mountains move and the oceans rise. When time stops and our souls leave our mortal bodies. Well, then? I will still love you.” Yass please 😭
Also I can’t forget my baby Malik that’s Lik aka Kill he was so funny and sweet and also unhinged when he’s Kill I loved him with both Rose and Sam
“I am Rose White, and I am indestructible. Unconquerable. Fucking. Immortal”
MY BADASS ACE OF HEARTS ROSE WHITE She will always be one of my favourite character who I will defend forever cause she’s got that special place in my heart Also Rose not being in charge in bed made me meh cause with her character she would’ve been totally mommy and made them all crawl on their knees and call her mommy (Lola missed this) Whatever they can try to dominate her in bed anol BUT SHE LITERALLY RULES THEM SHE GOT THEM WRAPPED IN HER FINGERS!!
THIS ONE WAS SO GOOOOOOOD ugh still toxic and mysterious and tense and exciting and sometimes heartbreaking but also so hot and sexy and funny it was my fave for sure!!! still was meh about rose and viktor's situation but he's a piece of sht so he got what he deserved it i mean his brother definitely did and mateo too so basically anyone who abused rose is done for i don't really remember viktor damn he's coming back i feel but yeah wtv still good im still so addictive to these characters and lik sam rachel and rose are so perfect for each other, never read anything like this i mean i read why choose hut this one was a fave for sure, all their personalities are so different but they complete each other and they protect each other no matter what and specially love each other so deeply ugh i love them so so much it was such a good series/duet, i loved it a little bit more than jamie and jake's journey but at the same time it's equal? just because there's one more book with jamie and jake than the others so! but tho these books aren't for everyone and please check trigger warnings please do it before starting any lola king's books, it was so good i had so much fun and sometimes i wanted to slap and beat someone up so bad but at the end of the day they had their happy ending they're together and comfortable with each other and understand each other and have each other no matter what and i just think that's beautiful!! they went through a lot and oh god conor finally had his final moment it was perfect i was so happy for rachel ugh then the conversation with her parents damn her mom really is a btch but they're happy and that's what matters, what a ride and i loved it truly
I LOVED this duet. Rose is one of my favorite Lola characters.
** SPOILER FREE **
This was a dark romance, polyamorous romance, queer romance, FFMM with a few enemies-to-lovers mafia vibes, very morally black men, and I devoured it. Lola, you keep taking it to the next level, my girl. These two books were phenomenal. If you’re a dark romance reader, you’re into the reverse harem, you like polyamorous, or why choose these books are for you. I could not recommend them enough. This is not light work, so if you’re not used to really dark romance, maybe this is not the book series for you. There are very, very dark themes in this book. You need to check trigger warnings. This book is graphic and not for the moderate dark romance reader. Heavy on the BDSM here. It also deals with kidnapping and child abuse. Rose has not had an easy life, and her trauma is heartbreaking.
This duet follows Rose, Jake's twin sister from the Stoneview series. Following high school graduation, Rose is kidnapped and taken for almost two years (16 months, to be exact). While on the way to run away with her high school girlfriend Rachel. This book is about the aftermath of that kidnapping and how Rose rebuilds her life. How she rebuilds her relationships with not only her brother and Rachel but also Sam, the man who she has been in love with and who protected her whole life, and his partner Lik. The way this foursome just worked and fit together was something Lola NAILED.
Rose is such a badass and takes no shit from anyone FMC but deep down, she has been severely damaged and used her whole life not just for her insanely good looks (Rose is HOT), but she is also a genius, so her mind as well. You come to realize that it's mostly an act to protect herself. This girl GOES THROUGH IT.
I loved this duet and I am sad it's over. I could read about this amazing foursome forever. Yet again, QUEEN and my lord and savior, Lola King, hit a home run.
Lola King creates such an emotional story packed with high heat, a dash of suspense and action, as well as a number of good laughs and a lot of OH SHIT moments. I can also say that it had me balling in the middle of the night (and tearing up at work ). I have no regrets.
The relationships Rose, Rachel, Lik and Sam build throughout this story are truly incredible. I can't even choose a favorite because they're all loveable in different ways. Like I thought I was rooting for Sam and Rose in the Stoneview Stories trilogy, but seeing this turn out to be RH was just 1000 times better. I got that pairing and SO MUCH MORE and I absolutely loved every second of it. The pivotal moments between each individual relationship will 100% pull at your heartstrings.
Even in times of tragedy and trauma, these four know how to build each other up. And the fact that they all bring out a different side of each other... their relationship is just so special. Like who knew hardass Sam could be such a softy?? It made me a gushing mess. But don't be fooled. That man is still undeniably ruthless.
This duet was such a rollercoaster with unexpected twists and turns, and Lola made sure to end this wild ride so beautifully.
If you love your books dark, steamy, full of possessive heroes AND heroines, and with the perfect amount of angst, this book is IT. I can't wait to see what comes next in Lola's world!
(Chapter fucking 12 & 13, y'all )
And as always, I love my Jake and Jamie crumbs! (;
I don’t know if I could love an FMC more than I do Rose White. She’s magnetic and she knows it. Her whole story is so rough, but she comes back on top surrounded by those who love her and who she loves back.
This is the conclusion to her epic tale with lots of twists, more secrets & lies and moments hard to come back from, but she does and like the Phoenix she is.
is it still barely any character development for rose? yes. do i feel like rachel is kind of unecessary in the dynamic? sure. are sam and lik great? of course.
anytime chris was on page i was like 🥰 honestly this deranged man i love him
I will say I love lik and Rachel but to me the story would’ve been BETTER if it was just Sam and rose. I mean first loves, do anything for each other. LITERALLY. They could’ve been end game alone & I would’ve been okay with that. Did I love the scenes with them all, yes . Honestly even just without Rachel it would’ve been great, because she was never even in on the action with the other guys.. she was a little pointless but I DO get why. I just want what I want, what can I say 🤷♀️
Sam’s love for rose was unmatched, I believe he would leave everything & everyone behind for her but he would never make her choose and thats why they all work so well together.
Rose went through more shit than everyone in all of Lola’s books together & still remained a bad bitch, authors please take notes from Lola how to create a bad bitch because all the FMC she writes sure are.
Idc if it’s even .5 seconds of nate in a book I’m a greedy whore for him 😏😂💧💦🤤 and I need more of him
Rose is many things to many different people. Depending on the character and their point of view, Rose has been described as intelligent, selfish, crazy, toxic, irresistible, stubborn, and so much more. But one thing that most of those characters could agree on (no matter their personal feelings towards Rose) is that she is a fighter. She will fight to survive, she will fight for the people she loves, and she will also fight the people she loves, even if they are doing something she wants. Her story and love life are just as complicated as her character.
Rachel, Rose, Sam, and Lik create an interesting relationship. Each one brings something unique to their dynamic. They all meet at different life stages and develop relationships in different ways, but they all end up loving each other in one way or another. Looking at all of their different personalities, their relationship seems impossible, but they all make it work with Rose in the center. All while small gangs and large mafia criminal organizations fight wars around them. There is not one dull moment in their story.
♾️/5 🌟 for me — this is one of those books that altered my brain chemistry.
This duet was very hard to get through, emotionally, but it was worth every single moment. PLEASE check your trigger warnings, this will not be for everyone, but these characters are EVERYTHING to me. You need to go into this with PATIENCE, I will say that. No one, in any type of relationship, is perfect - and everyone’s dynamic evolved throughout their story, it just takes time. There was individual growth as well, which then filtered in to said dynamics, and I thought it was written so beautifully and authentically. These are not “good guys,” and I love them all in spite of that.
I liked this way more than Stoneview. Lola’s writing, especially from this duet, is becoming top tier, insta-read for me. Holy SHIT. Finishing this made me UNWELL bc I’ll miss them forever and ever.😭♥️ I’m glad I still have more of this universe, though, BRING IT ON!
The first book was so good, but this one, while at some point I felt so many emotions I felt like a lot was overshadowed by spicy scenes. Why didn’t Rose and Lik love each other? What did Rachel, Lik and Sam mean when they meant they were in love with each other? I’m aware that this is Rose’s duet, but why didn’t we get more in depth characterization of Lik? He’s such an interesting character I wanted to know more about him his mental illness and why he had substance abuse issues. The pace was also an issue for me, it felt dragged and then the last 25% felt so rushed with so much happening. It’s still a beautiful story and I enjoyed it but I wished there was just more.
I was so excited to read the rest of Rose’s story. There were moments I found myself frustrated cause of the back and forth between the characters but then I started to see a more vulnerable side of the characters and that made me happy.
I loved seeing how everything played out and watch the characters take care of the things that were going bad in their lives. My only wish was that there was a little more of it towards the beginning of the book. The first part took me a bit longer to read but the second half I devoured.
All in all, I truly did enjoy it and loved the characters. I cannot wait to read more from this author.
5/5🌶️ •why choose •FF/MM/FFMM/MMF •BDSM •enemies to lovers •touch her & 💀 ⚠️look up triggers!!!⚠️
“Look at us, a group of simple humans. The only thing that makes us special? Insanity runs through our veins. Our blood is poisoned with a passion for chaos. And chaos we found in each other.”
what a wild ride that ended beautifully. even at the worst times, these 4 know how to build eachother up. i loved how they all brought out a different side of eachother. their relationship was special. BUT i will say, i really disliked how majority of this book it was all about Sam, Rose and Lik while Rachel just felt like an after thought. i understand she was going through her own personal hell so those 3 had more time together, but even when they were all together it felt off to me. even though Rach enjoyed dominating and watching the others dominate, we rarely got any FF scenes. the relationship between Rachel & Rose is the reason i actually started this duet because i loved their prequel. so it disappointed me a little that she sometimes just felt like a background character. but while i did come to this duet for Rachel and Rose, i did enjoy the poly aspect, i just wish it was written a little better & we were able to see the separate relationships grow as well as the 4 of them together. but Lola did do a really great job at bringing in love that isn’t based off physical love, between rachel & the guys.
“And just like that, with a few selfies, a couple of kisses, and the wind in our hair…we’re happy. Just like that, we’ve made our quadruple work.”
Rose White: her character development was spectacular. she is a badass and fiesty & doesnt take anyone’s shit. & with all the trauma she went through, she’s so strong. i just wanted to hug her and never let her go. i’m in love with her. her character did not disappoint. she’s hot & knows what she wants.
Rachel: i loved her so much and she’s a sexy ass dom🔥 but i wanted more from her. this book was supposed to show Rachel really come into herself and be stronger. i fear that never really happens, we get one scene towards the end where’s she’s fearless & i was rooting her on but that’s it. but despite that, i still loved her. she has the best heart…like the little prom night she put together for Sam because he never experienced one, was so fkn cute. it made my heart happy. it’s the little things 🥹
Sam: he really is one sexy ass mf. like…the mouth on this man?! FILTHY. i loved seeing a bit of his soft side in this book as well. but i still felt like he loved Rose more then Lik & Rachel. he has a great relationship with them all but i just feel like if Rose said drop them, he would. and i don’t like feeling that way when reading a poly relationship.
Lik: yeah, i wanna wrap him up and put him in my pocket. i just loved him. i loved his personality, he just made everything more fun and always had something witty to say. when Kill—his alter ego—took over, i got on all fours. he’s hot asf
fav quotes❤️😮💨🔥⛓️
“ I love you. You’re my everything, okay? I see someone who just looks like you on the street, and my heart stops beating. I hear your voice, and I want to sing to the birds like a Disney princess. I smell chamomile, and I want to bathe in it. Shit, Rach, I…I see you, and I want to dig my heart out and give it to you. Crush it, keep it, I don’t care, just fucking have it.”
“My girl. My beautiful girl. My pretty sunshine. The girl I love to fuck. The gorgeous girl who makes me the happiest person on the planet. Oh, I know,” her eyes are glued to mine when she says, “the love of my life.”
“This kiss…It’s the reunification of our souls after so long being apart. It’s two pieces of a puzzle finally slotting into each other.”
“her eyes… I know with a deadly certainty that millennia ago, the twelve Olympian gods poured diamonds into the sky and turned them into stars just so they could steal them back and place them in Rose’s eyes tonight.”
“When forever ends and the world stops spinning. When the mountains move and the oceans rise. When time stops and our souls leave our mortal bodies. Well, then? I will still love you.”
“We wouldn’t be who we are without our scars. You’re beautiful. All of you.”
“Loving all of them in their own ways, giving them what I need, and owning their hearts in return.”
“Your mere presence does unexplainable things to my heart. So don’t you ever go away.”
“I like Ace for you,” I tell her. But before she can say anything, I add, “because it can be the highest or the lowest card, depending on the game we play. Just like you.”
I both loved and disliked certain things in this book for multiple reasons starting with the fact that the book is 95% 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and 5% story. Since reading the prequel I fell in love with rose and Rachel’s relationship and dynamic. It was honestly the main reason why I started this series. I ended up falling in love with rose’s character and While I really enjoyed the relationship that everyone built together and how they all got something different from each other I also questioned something’s about this series.
Sorry for any spoilers ahead !!!!!
Now for what I disliked… How did Malik a man who was gay his entire life fall in love with rose after only 2 weeks of knowing her. Or how it is mentioned over and over again how Sam, Malik, and Rachel love each other but “only in a platonic way” but you don’t actually get to see their relationship grow they just mention moments they spent together but you don’t get to experience those moments because they are mentioned briefly as an after thought most of the time. So the “I love you” moments seem forced! You also have a moment where Rose admits that Rachel doesn’t know if she’s a lesbian or not because she’s never been with a man (not including Conor) so it made you question if there was a moment where she would also “go straight” just for the two guys.
Now while this book does have a lot of 🌶️🌶️ 97% of that is MFM with 3% 🌶️🌶️ being FF even though the book says MM, MF, FF. The majority of this book felt like it was all about Sam, Malik, and Rose while Rachel was just an after thought. And while I did understand she had things going on and those 3 spent more time together it still felt off. Even when they were all together it was still off. While I understand Rachel enjoyed dominating and watching others dominate it made no sense for the author to add FF to this book but give you maybe 5 FF scenes but over 15-20 MFM. Not to mention while I assumed with the first book the dynamics would be: Sam/malik (MM), Sam/rose (MF), Rose/Rachel (FF).
Instead you get : Malik/rose (MF), Sam/Rose (MF), Malik/Sam (MM), Malik/Rose/Sam (MFM) and every once in awhile with all that going on you’d get a little Rose/Rachel (FF).
While I understand the book is meant to be poly and have them working towards a relationship it doesn’t seem that way. It felt like the author didn’t care about the FF aspect of the book and made it so that Rachel the other female would just simply enjoy watching every interaction. Rachel was supposed to come into herself and be stronger in this book but that never happens, you get one scene at the end that makes her seem strong and fearless but that’s all. She only comes out strong and fearless while being dominant.
Certain parts of the book seem rushed and others just drag on. Sometimes you get information thrown at you but it never comes up again or you get left with questions that don’t get answered.
While I came to this book for Rose and Rachel I did enjoy the poly aspect I just wish it would have been written better and you could see the separate relationships grow as well as the 4 of them together.
this book was beautiful, painful and so amazing. i think this could be one of my favourite books of all time. rose’s story was so heartbreaking, all she went through before this and all she continued to go through during this just hurt so much to read. she was constantly being lied to, brainwashed and manipulated. i just wanted her to get her happiness and feel safe in a world where she felt free and loved. i loved the relationship she had with rachel, sam and lik. it was a weird dynamic but it work so well, i loved seeing their quadruple grow. seeing a platonic love for develop between rachel, sam and lik was amazing, they showed how deeply you can love someone without being sexual attracted to them. sam and lik were a gorgeous couple and i loved their bond a lot, the way they both loved rose was amazing. for me rose and rachel were beautiful, they had this toxic type of love that was very raw and perfect. i loved their bong how this group would do anything to keep the others safe and protected.
the plot of this was a lot sadder in terms on emotions, you could see rose struggle to let go of her past and come to terms with the abuse she had faced in her past. but i loved how she grew so much and got the revenge she deserved and found her happiness and love with rachel, lik and sam. the story was so gripping, the spice was spicing and i could not put this down. everything about this was 10/10. i adored seeing all the side characters and learn about where they are in life and seeing more from the characters we get books on in the future. jake and rose have such an amazing twin bond and i have loved their stories so much, they both deserve all the happiness in the world with their loved ones.
some quotes: “sam, i’m yours. no matter what happens, i’ll always be yours.” - 13 year old rose to 15 year old sam
“you know you found something in me, f*ck, you found something in sam and lik. surely this all means something to you. we've got your back, rach." - rose to rachel
"what you, rachel, and lik bring me... nothing compares to that. nothing compares to your love.” - rose to sam
‘rachel sits next to me on the sofa and drops her head on my shoulder. my heart kicks up, loving the tender gesture. i'd never met someone i feel so close to loving on a deeper level, yet not feel anything toward them sexually.’ - sam on rachel
‘on each side of my face, i hear them hiss with pleasure. and above me, i listen to them kissing. i barely see them, yet i know it's beautifully chaotic.’ rose about sam and lik
‘no one can see my nakedness, but i’ve come to not mind it at all with these men. i’m not sexually attracted to them, but the love and trust we all share for each other eliminates any shyness i would feel.’ rachel about her platonic relationship with sam and lik
I loved this book so much. It was fun to read but I'll admit I didn't like the fact rose never got to be in charge during spicy scenes and given her personality I was expecting a lot of it and it never happened so I didn't enjoy the spicy scenes which was a lot of the book. That is the only reason it's 3 stars for me. The plot was so good the understanding of the characters and the development was so good, but i'd definitely check the trigger warning in case you're new to dark romance. Also reading this book made me realise how much more I loved the trilogy of jake and Jamie by this same author called 'giving in', 'giving away' and 'giving up' and they're soooo good I can't recommend it enough if you like dark romance, but it not that similar to this and has a different perspective, just do research before reading it !
***I read the complete collection and has to make my review shorter. Here is my original review with quotes ***
"The beautiful girl, full of broken dreams and hopes for a better life. The flawless flower that cuts you so deep you'll forever wear her scar."
"I am done pretending I don't want to kill every mother****** who looks at you, Rose. I am done keeping you safe from me."
"From now on, it's me. Me and whoever I allow you to touch. That's all. I am your only focus. I am who you aim to please. I am who you exist through. Me. No one else."
"I push the door open and welcome the woman I've loved since she was a girl and I was a boy into my world of pain and pleasure."
"When forever ends and the world stops spinning. When the mountains move and the oceans rise. When time stops and our souls leave our mortal bodies. Well, then? I will still love you."
"Each moment that passes, I feel myself falling deeper into her. She bewitches me, takes me for herself, and leaves no more room inside me for reason."
"Will everyone please stop pulling guns out every five minutes? We do not live in a James Bond movie." "You're dating a hitman, a gang member, and a girl who came back from the Wolves. Our film is better than James Bond and definitely needs guns."
"I've always wanted him to save me. Samuel Thomas, my hero. Now he's going to avenge me from the men who toetured my soul for their own gains. He's saving me. For real this time. And I hate him for it."
"I always knew, Rose, that you belonged to me. That all I needed was patience. And that one day, you'd become my forever."
"I saved myself tonight. I am Rose White, and I am indestructible. Unconquerable. F****** Immortal."
This was a phenomenal ending to this duet. This author has put me through so many emotions. There are so many highs and so many lows. A ton of trauma but so much growing and healing. The characters in this duet are so complex. I loved the dynamics between all of them. I love how some had platonic love for each other while some others had the added sexual element to it. This author did this duet justice and I was screaming when Rose finally confronted her demons. It was a long time coming 😭. The spice in this one was extremely spicy and delicious 🔥🔥🔥🔥. The chemistry and kink was off the charts 🥵🥵😉😏😌💦.
This story picked up right where the last one ended. We see Viktor come back to claim Rose but she asks for 60 days. She keeps this hidden from her partners. She's battling bad Stockholm Syndome from all the abuse and kidnapping. We see Rachel dealing with her abusive fiance, but she finally confronts her demons and her parents. Rose gets taken twice, which has Sam going on a murderous rampage. Lik ends up getting hurt but recovers and comes back deadly as Kill 😈. Blood was shed. Demons were laid to rest six feet under. Growing and healing was a long journey.
There characters will stay with me for a while. One of my favorite things in this duet was finally getting to see the love happen between Rose and Sam. His tattoos he has on him with all her notes she would leave him, killed me 🥹🥹. The prom Rachel put together for Sam 🥰. The strong bond between Lik and Sam 😍. And finally, seeing Rose get some peace and some normalcy. I also loved seeing cameos from the other characters, especially Jake. I highly recommend everything by this author!

Wow... I really am speechless right after reading this one and I need a minute to process the intensity and rollercoaster ride that this one was.
After reading book 1 and especially the way it ended, there are questions that need to be answered, the main one being, what is the actual connection between Rose and the Volkovs and what is she hiding and why?
I have to say, I had hated Rose when I'd read the Queen of my heart novella because I felt she was a girl who didn't respect relationships and didn't care for love but boy was I wrong... So so wrong about her.
Knowing the extent of what that girl has been through made me oh so ache for her and I understand why she's the way she is. Rose White might be one twisted woman but she's a Fiesty and Strong woman for sure, you definitely can't deny that after reading this one.
My heart also went out for Rachel especially when things escalate to a degree where I was so freaking out for her and was scared to find out what would happen next and would she make it out of it or not. But she has a craziness and a unique strength of her own which definitely left me in awe of her.
I have to say Sam is the one that Ms. King finally made me like him. Although at the start and many times I was just irked by his behaviour and controlling ways as at times he showed no regard for the other person's wishes yet as we delve deeper into the past and getting to see Sam's side of the story, did win him points in my eyes for him.
LIK IS THE HOTTEST AND THE COOLEST. Lik is a favourite of mine and I have to confess his times with both Rose and Sam were so beyond hot... Oh my.... Lik only likes men, so what makes his time so much hotter with Rose is because Rose is the only woman he's attracted to and when he takes her.....OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS... I WAS A MELTED MESS.🥵🌶️🌶️🔥🔥
There's a lot happening in this one, along with the secrets and the lies, the findings and the past demons all come together.
BUT ONE THING THAT NEEDS TO BE SAID IS THAT - THIS ONE WAS LOADED WITH HOT SPICINESS TO THE MAX. I mean there's Kinky and then there's these four people who will definitely melt off your panties with loads and loads of hot times. There's, MF, FF, MM, MFF, FFMM... You can just imagine the level of hotness Lik, Sam, Rachel and Rose bring out in this book. 🔥🔥🌶️🌶️🥵🥵
The secrets and the suspense were so freaking good and the spice and the action and chase keeps you HOOKED ON TO THIS RIDE AND WILL NOT LET GO.
That ending and the bonus content just added extra awesomeness and extra flavour and made me smile to see these four finally happy together. What a wild ride. Loved this one.🔥🔥🔥
I'll start by saying that the universe that Lola King created just sucked me in, and I can't get enough of it!
However, I'm disappointed with this duet. I wanted to love it so much because I fell in love with Rose in Stoneview Stories, especially the glimpse we got of the sexual tension and attraction and strong connection she had with Sam.
There were too many people in this relationship, meaning Lik and Rachel, even though the whole point of the duet was to represent a polyamorous/why-choose relationship, but it just didn't work here! Rose and Lik's relationship felt like good friends. Their sexual relationship just didn't feel authentic. And Rachel?! I still don't like her even though I have to admit that her prom date with Sam was sweet. Other than that, she was a completely unnecessary character, in my opinion.🤷♀️
Ugh! This duet could have been five stars if it only included Rose's relationship with Sam!😫 Their past, the trauma, the crazy attraction between them, the sexual tension, and their love for each other were so strong! So I don't see an equal relationship between four people but two people who love each other more than anything else and are too selfish to let go of their partners.
This kiss… It’s the reunification of our souls after so long being apart. It’s two pieces of a puzzle finally slotting into each other.
Because if we’re both hopelessly consumed with her, I don’t have to choose him or her.
At the end of the day, if Sam had to choose between Lik and Rose, he would choose Rose without a second thought, and if Rose had to choose between Sam and Rachel, she would choose Sam! And they were ready to do it at the beginning of the first book of the duet!
It’s not hard to understand wars that have been fought over women. We are merely humans; our pride leads us, and our love controls us. Menelaus fought for ten years to get Helen back from Paris. Armies left their kingdoms, children died, queens were turned into slaves, and Troy burned to ashes. The stupidity of men never ceases to astound me. Mine, in particular, when it comes to admitting that I would have happily fought the strongest Greek hero if it meant I would keep the woman I love by my side. I would have fought one more year, one more battle, gutted Achilles in front of the Gods if it meant Rose would be mine forever.
“I always knew, Rose, that you belonged to me. That all I needed was patience. And that one day, you’d become my forever.” A soft, shocked breath escapes her, and I smirk. “So how about you kiss your boyfriend hello now?”
And I'm supposed to believe that this is an equal relationship between four people, yeh, right😒
The last 20% of the book was full of action and interest which was lacked in the rest of the book, this is the first time I complain about this issue but there was too much unnecessary smut in the book that could have been replaced by plot, character development or by delving more into Sam's past.😓
With all that said, Lola King's writing is captivating, and this universe is one of the bast that I read.
4.5⭐️ Quite perfect conclusion to the duet. Finally their dynamic started making sense to me completely. The ending still felt a bit rushed as a lot of things happened within like 4 chapters.
Poor Rose, how much can one person overcome. She just could not catch a break. We finally got to find out what happened to her when she was kidnapped and it broke my heart into smithereens. My heart melted when she and Sam finally put aside all animosity and got to mend their relationship. It was such a beautiful moment.
Lik is still a treasure, I love him so much. Sam as always exudes such confidence and dominance, I was ready to fold each time any command left his mouth. 🥵 I don’t know what it says about me. 😅
As for Rachel, she definitely grew into a stronger and more confident woman but I was still not fully vibing with her. Something about such a quick switch from a meek woman to a fearless “queen”, as she calls herself, was a bit much. Though her learning sessions with Sam and how she explored her darker part of self were definitely a nice touch.
This book is even spicier than the first one but it is unbelievably hot and kinky. I really liked what Lola did with the entire quadruple relationship and how some of them had deep platonic love for each other rather than force it between them all. It felt so much more gratifying to watch them all as a unit.
The only thing I most certainly didn’t like was what happened to Simon. I can’t get past it when an absolutely innocent person becomes a collateral in the MCs stupid feuds. Simon seemed to be such a good guy and it felt so unnecessary.
