The Law Keeper for the Venia bloodline, Marise doesn’t want to return home but duty dictates that she must investigate the attempt on her lord’s life by another vampire.
When she sets eyes on her lord, Marise realises that she might have been called for another reason and that the attack on her lord might not have been by a vampire after all. Her only source of information is a guard who was mortally wounded during the attack, a guard who turns out to be the man who broke her heart fifty years ago.
The sight of Jascha so close to death triggers a battle in Marise’s heart that will see her struggle to turn her back on him and her family again, and maintain her sense of duty. Is fifty years enough to forgive the one you love for breaking your heart? Will Marise finally confess to everything she’s held inside and kept hidden from him? And can Jascha convince Marise to listen to what he has to say and make her love him again?
This is a novella in the Vampires Realm series.

I really enjoy Felicity Heaton's Vampires Realm series. The characters tend to be the type that you can get into their heads and feel what they're feeling. The vampire bloodlines are interesting and different enough that you don't feel like you're retreading old ground with every book. The bad guys tend to be bad. And that's exactly what I'm looking for.
Here we have a two strong warriors who have been torn apart by some stupid mistakes and a lack of communication. Or maybe it's a lack of wanting to listen as opposed to a lack of wanting to talk. Does that even make sense? Maybe I need more coffee before I can form coherent sentences. Maybe I can never form coherent sentences. That's okay. I accept myself as I am.
Anyway. Two warriors, lots of angst. In the fifty years they've been apart they haven't been able to forget one another but they're both tied up in knots and the emotional iceberg that is Marise is having a hard time unthawing.
There's blood and fighting and sexy times. There are even some heartfelt moments with the sibling of the ex-lover. All in all, it was a fun, fast, free read. I like that.
Reunion is a free ebook from Heaton in the Vampires Realm series. I was curious enough to download it and am glad that I did! The short story follow the vampire Mari, a Law Keeper, as she investiges an attempted murder at the mansion of her family whom she hasn't seen in fifty years. Mari uses her new position as a shield to guard her from the pain of her separation from her ex, the Russian-accented, violet-eyed vampire Jascha. In a little over 100 pages, Heaton told a wonderful tale of vampire intrigue and gave just enough backdrop on some of the other characters that appear as main elements in her full novels to grab my interest. Thoughout the read, the character Mari reminded me of Kate Beckinsale striding around in her long black trench in the movie Underworld, a rogue investigator moving amidst the intrigues of her clan. This was an interesting novel and I will look into more by this author.
This installment of Vampire Realms, Marise the Venice Law Keeper is called to her bloodline to investigate the assassin attempt on Timure’s life. Can she set aside her feelings for her past lover and complete the mission without putting herself and others in danger? This story is very focused on the love between Marise and Jascha and helps put away the one lie that has torn down their relationship. I really like this short story and it has enough romance and action to balance out. The only thing that I would change is that I wanted more information on a couple of the characters that were mention, but other than that the story was interesting enough.
This was a free ebook from Felicity E. Heaton and I am glad to find another great author to read. Probably due to be it being offered free this book is a bit short. Even short there's a great story and likable characters. I found her world of vampires intriguing and I will definitely be looking into reading the rest of her series Vampires Realm. I enjoyed the main characters and their struggle. If you are a fan of paranormal romance stories you should for sure give Felicity E. Heaton a try. She makes it an easy decision with her free ebooks to sample her reading.
I have only read the first book in this series but was pleasantly surprised by it.Prophecy is a vampire with a mysterious past(even she has no idea of her true origins)after sneaking out of her home she comes into contact with Valentine a vampire assassin who must go against his family and clan and protect Prophecy against insurmountable odds.
I found Reunion for free on Kobo, so I decided to give it a try (along with some of Heaton's other free stories) despite the fact that I haven't read any other books in this series. On the whole that didn't matter. Yes, there is some history that might make more sense if I'd read books one through three first, but there was enough world building and backstory within the text that one can read this novella as a standalone tale. It was enjoyable enough. The plot was interesting and there was plenty of action alongside the romantic content. I didn't completely fall in love with the characters, but I had nothing against them. I wouldn't rush to reread this book, but it was a pleasant enough way to pass a couple of evenings, so paranormal romance and vampire fans may want to give it a try.
This did not feel like a true romance to me because the talk of the past was confusing as well as there love for each other. I mean Jascha slept with someone else to get a better bond with his sire because it's "normal" when who he thought was his sire wasn't even his sire, so it was deliberately cheating. You're supposed to get the feeling of them being soulmates but you don't sleep with someone else for the connection becomes severed. I did not enjoy this story because I felt there was no passion behind the story. Waste of time .. I won't be reading a 3rd book from this author. Also the imagination of the story doesn't go far either.
This was a book I got for free when I first got my kindle. It needed some fleshing out and editing, but there were some good bones. I think I would like to see what this author is writing now, and something that is not romance, as I thought those parts were weaker. The author’s strength I expect is world building.
Blood, danger and heartache make this book worth reading! Who says love is a weakness? Felicity is amazing at every turn and you won't be sorry about reading her work. Ever.
I really enjoyed this short story/novella about Marise and Jascha. Looking forward to reading the next book in this Series and more paranormal books by Felicity Heaton.
Brilliant book well written and a great cast of characters and story line absolutely loved it I couldn't put it down looks likely going to be a great series
Reunion: Heaton is one of my must read authors. I really enjoy her work, and I love this series, Vampires Realm, of books. However, this was not my favorite. It's worth the read, it just wouldn't be my first pick. I would still recommend the book though to anyone looking for a good vamp read that doesn't follow the same tired theme of the majority of vampire books these days. Marise is a vampire, a Law Keeper for her bloodline, the Venia bloodline. She also hasn't been home in 50 years due to her love at the time having cheated on her with his maker, but now she's been called home to investigate the attack on her Lord of the bloodline. Her former lover, Jascha, is there and is the head guard for the Lord. When her Lord was attacked, two guards were killed and one was gravely wounded. That guard, of course, was Jascha. As a Law Keeper, Marise is not supposed to show emotion, but that becomes increasingly harder as she sees Jascha's injuries and tends to him and spends time with him during her investigation. The writing is well done. The character growth is good. However, I wasn't as found of this female character as I have been with other female characters of Heaton's. I like that she's a strong, independent female that can take care of herself rather than the overdone damsel in distress. But, she just had personality flaws that annoyed me like she's supposed to have had a relationship with this man, but lied to him the entire time and upon the falling out incident still didn't come clean. I just had a hard time swallowing that. Her lack of interest in learning to speak even basic Russian sort of bugged me too. It seemed to make her sound bubbly, which she is not presented to be. I also found a bit of confusion in the genetically altered human vampire slayer villain character. There seemed to be something missing with this part of the story line. However, overall, I did enjoy the book, and was left wanting to read more of this series. Like I said, if you're looking for a fairly short, but not too short vampire romance with a twist, then give this one a try. It's not your typical vampire romance story where the vamps are lonely heroes who are just misunderstood by the world or that overplayed damsel in distress saved by the oh so mysterious man. It's darker with the vamps not being all wonderful heroes and heroines but not being all bad either. They're more relatable than many vamps of other books I think. It's a fast, fun read that kept me interested to the end.
Marise is a great character. She is a Law Keeper (sort of the police for vampires) and has been for the past 50 years. I liked this character a lot. She is most definitely a take charge kind of person, and can kick some serious butt! (pardon the slang). Recalled home to investigate a deadly attack, she is confronted by her past.
Jascha is an elite guard in the house of Venia. I liked this character too. He is just as stubborn as Marise and just as prideful. However, he also loves Marise, and will do anything in his power to protect her.
This is a continuation of the Vampire Realms Romance series that was started with the Prophecy Trilogy. The author has expanded the series and has brought new blood (pardon the pun) into play. I was on the edge of my seat though most of the story, as the danger, intrigue and romance kept me hooked from the first page! The Venia's are one of five powerful vampire families that are spread over Europe. I must admit that I took an instant dislike to Lord Timur, and thought he was rather weak as a ruler of the house of Venia; he's pompous and very arrogant. I don't know if he will survive for much longer. In this story, Marise and Jascha team up and find themselves facing a deadly foe. The danger comes in the form of vampire hunters. However, these no ordinary vampire hunters; they have been altered somehow to be faster, stronger and more deadly. There is a lot of action and some fantastically described fight scenes that came alive on the page. I could "see" them in my mind's eye with ease! Other scenes were just as vivid and I felt like I was actually there. This is an erotic paranormal romance, so there are scenes of a sensual nature that are rather explicit and very HOT! *fanning my face!* Although this book could be read as a stand alone, I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Seventh Circle, as soon as possible.
Felicity Heaton has written another fantastic paranormal romance that swept me away and made me wish that these vampires were real (but, I do have reservations too - I'm not keen on being their next meal!). I love her writing style, which is fast paced, exciting and believable. She is on top of my Favourite Authors List.
As this is an erotic paranormal romance with explicit scenes, I do not recommend this book to younger readers. However, I highly recommend this book if you love erotic paranormal romances full of sexy vampires. - Lynn Worton
After reading the amazing Tiger's Curse and wanting some fast to read to past the time till I can get my heands on its sequel, Tiger's Quest or whatever I decide to read next (got no idea at the moment), Sarah from Feeling Fictional tweeted about a free ebook and, seeing as I want to test out my Kindle with some fun stuff from authors I've never read before, I downloaded Reunion and started skimming through it.
After becoming the Law Keeper for the Venia bloodline, Marise doesn’t want to return home but duty returns her to investigate the attempt on her lord’s life. But after she discovers that her only source of information is a guard who was mortally wounded during the attack, a guard who turns out to be the man who broke her heart fifty years ago...
Reunion is, as I have just discovered, the 6th book in the Vampire Realms (a paranormal romantic serie)s so there were one or two things that were touched upon that happened in the previous books within the series.
This was a fast and slightly fun read (with one sexy scene which took up one whole chapter out of the eight), but it still had its moments of "Hang on, what?"
One of the problems I had was this was there were times I wondered which this book was. A vampire story or a romantic story. Because it never felt like it made up its mind one way or the other. I felt that the two sides of this story never mixed together well.
But seeing as I got this free, I'm not seeing this as a bad thing as I had low standards. It was a fast read, but nothing exciting. So, middle of the road for me...
I haven't read this author before, and after this book, am unlikely to do so again anytime soon. Marise was not a character I could relate to - nor did I want to. Jascha showed promise for a para or two, but quickly left me tepid, if not cool. I found the story tedious to read, and that's being polite. The characters' world was seriously messed up. My disbelief was never suspended, and try as I might, I really couldn't whip up any interest in the outcome of this story. There was no character arc - no significant growth in the main characters; just an apology for a past sin of omission and all's forgiven. Sorry, but the impression this story left on me was of someone making an almighty effort to come up with some kick ass female warrior type who could lord it over every male in sight without putting herself to an any effort. The result was a female I couldn't care less about, and a pathetic male who read like a labrador puppy looking for someplace warm to curl up.
118 = short story? I'm not sure so I didn't put it in that category. I think this is the first time I've read this author. Lots of angst in the beginning. Marise is called back to her vampire bloodline home to help them when their guards and leader are attacked and some are killed. She finds out one the guards attacked and barely alive is Jascha. Now this I don't understand, he's not hated and he's the leader of the guards but they don't clean his wounds, no one stays with him, even the girl that's supposed to have a crush on him. What's up with that? This is never explained. He broke Marise's heart 50 years ago and she doesn't think she's ready to forgive or forget. Also they need to find out what/who attacked them. Good story. 3-1/2 stars.
I really enjoyed this book, it was a great storyline, fast paced throughout and well balanced. It is the story of Marise, a law keeper, and her old one time love Jascha, whom she finds again when called to investigate the attempted murder of the Lord of her Venia bloodline. Jascha saved their lord in a bloody battle and is near death when Marise arrives at the Lord's castle. She very soon discovers she still has feelings for him, and there is a well written unfolding of their reunion and growing love for each other.
I have loved the whole series and characters in these books and would recommend them to all paranormal romance fans.
I really loved this book. It was actually a sweet but action-packed story of how two Vampire lovers were separated. Marise is a Law Keeper, a strong character and I love tough on the outside, soft and warm on the inside women like her. Jascha was as I love also the heroic character made of nails but melts in the hands of his lover Marise. I don't read a book just for the name on the cover, I read it for the synopsis. I really thought that this book lived up to my high standards for Paranormal Romance. It is a Smexy book, like all of Felicity Heaton's work which I enjoy. Good writing, you won't be disappointed in Reunion!
I'm usually, and very rarely, given to place a "3" or lower on a book. Usually due more to effort than anything. I love Felicity's writing. I think she has a unique talent to bringing a story/tale to life. I just feel that this book lacked any passion in its writing. If it is going to follow the main story of the series, then Spellbound or Dark Moon Rising should have had a lead in to it. We are just catapulted into a new group of characters we have never met or heard of. What is to happen with Hyperion? And some of the other bloodlines we have been introduced to? I think the follow through was just poor planning.
Marise is a Law Keeper for her bloodline. She doesn't want to go home but an investigation requires her presence. An attack was made on a vampire, her previous love & lover.
Now she must conduct an investigation and find out who is behind the attacks and why. Assuming she can do her job without feeling the hurt from her broken heart due to the break up that took place fifty years ago.
This book was good. It was a slow read for me, something different than what I am used to reading.
Short ‘Vampire Realms’ story #3.5. Law Keeper Marise of the Russian Venia bloodline returns to the family mansion after an assassination attempt on their Lord Timur. She has been gone ever since becoming a Law Keeper centuries before and is reluctant to return to her hated childhood home.
Nice little separated lovers reunited story, but was surprised how easily the other Law Keepers accepted her challenge to the law.
Fave Scenes: 1) Marise attending to Jascha’s wounds and 'going the same way'.
Just started this one. It's fairly easy reading, like the rest in the series. Heaton writes a good love story. So far, she has only slightly eased up on the frowns. That seems to be her facial expression of choice. He frowned. She frowned with concern. She looked down, frowning. That's been my biggest complaint about the series.
Update: As with all the other books I've read by this author, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and love her blend of romance and the paranormal.
There are somethings to be said about what makes a good book. This book was too wordy and slow, it took me way to long to read it because it was boring. I expect more from my books I even read some passages to a friend of mine and he just couldn't handle the story. He asked me why i continued to read it. It was because I wanted to know the end, and was hoping it would save itself. Nope.
