Most people wish they knew then what they know now.
But not me.
I made a plan when I was fifteen and I’ve spent the last twenty years making it into my reality.
I expected to spend the weekend before my big promotion having a great time catching up with my college friends. I didn’t plan on changing my life forever.
One wish at a waterfall and I’m now a decade in the past where I’ve got no wrinkles, no husband and no promotion.
If I’m going to be stuck in the past, then I’m going to need a new plan. Observe future husband—check Keep promises to friends—check Invest in sure-thing stocks—check
Sounds easy, except that my future husband smiles and laughs more now than he ever did with me and the engaging bar owner I’ve promised to help keeps pushing my boundaries and steering me off course.
How do I choose between the carefully planned life I’ve built and the adventure that could be?
I am a book snob. I have certain personal parameters I enjoy reading, which translates to my not reviewing often. (I DO understand writing a book is really hard and pretty personal. So, if I can't give a high mark, I observe that age-old "Golden Rule"...;-)
I LOVE Time Travel books! So, you guessed it—KP Turner hit a home run in my book-reading world!
This is not only a well-written book, but just fun, too!! I thought the characters were well-developed and multi-dimensional. I could really see them without her over-describing them, which would have snuffed out my own imagination. That's huge in the writing world! Even the sub-characters were easy to follow and "see". (which I can't wait to read about them as she adds to this series!).
I loved the dialogue. I've read that a writer cannot learn to write good dialogue unless they are good listeners. KP must be a good listener because their conversations were realistic and fun. The banter often made me smile or laugh.
I read all heat levels in my romance books. I like them all. She was not over the top in this one. She described just enough and, again, left most up to you and your imagination. That, too, takes a good bit of skill, in my opinion.
And mostly, the story was wonderful! I lost a few hours of sleep; thank you, Ms. Turner! I simply could not put it down. I wanted to know what happened to Lauren. And Ben. And Matthew. And what a wonderful idea - what if you could get a second chance? What would you do? Probably not what you think. That's part of what I think she was writing about in this wonderful Time Travel Romance!
Just...meh. The premise was decent, but so many things needed to be better thought out (if her husband is the reason she remembers 10-year-old sports scores with perfect accuracy, why does she know them--and the injuries sustained in those games--from before she has even met him?) It could have used a more thorough editing job (who still has makeup on their face to wipe off the morning after sleeping with a guy at his place, when they took a shower before going to sleep?), and more thought put into what events/conversations need to be on the page and what doesn't.
For a first effort, it's not horrible--I've read traditionally published books that are MUCH worse--but hopefully going forward she gets more professional editing help and more critical beta readers in on the effort before publishing.
I got this story as an ARC and am SO glad I did. This was a fantastic, well-written story. I read it into the wee hours. Lauren is a thirty-five-year-old woman who's so busy making plans and getting ahead she doesn't have time for her friends or her husband, Matthew. When fate steps in and a stone tossed into a waterfall on a wish suddenly transports her back ten years, she has the chance to re-evaluate her life, reconnect with her friends, and realize she might have chosen the wrong man when she helps Ben try to save his family bar.
The ending of this story will really get you when she's forced to decide whether she should change her future and the future of the people she loves.
Such a well-written first book from this author. I highly recommend it.
This book read so quickly as if I was part of main character Lauren's girl group and joined in with her adventures. To be able to make a wish and go back fifteen years, how would your story change, if at all? Same Time. New Plan was a book I wish could go on forever. Looking forward to KP Turner's next story!
A cool take on time slip romance with a great HEA Great read! Love a cool competent heroine with lasting friendships and who is great at her job but has developed a blind spot over time. Lauren is given a redo and definitely makes the most of it! Made me think of Susanna Kearsley books with contemporary settings. Looking for the next in the series!
I love how quick this book was to read and I loved Ben and Lauren’s story. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars is the time travel piece. But not a reason to ignore this book. So wonderfully written and I want more of Lauren and Ben’s story.
I loved this book! The premise was so original and hooked me right away. And I soooo didn’t predict the main character’s choices. Nice surprises! What an absorbing read! I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
