It's been 1097 days and 14 hours since I've been locked in this place. And they've come to me every night.
The monsters in my dreams worship my body, and when I wake up I'm desperate for more. But they’re never there to finish me off.
Dr. Adams says I can leave the asylum if I start to take my meds, but I've always hated how they made me feel...and I'm not sure that I agree with them that I'm actually crazy.
Because dreams don’t make you crazy, right?
I've got to start living someday though...so I finally take the plunge and obey so I can get out.
My dreams stop, and the monsters disappear. I’m finally starting a new life. That's when he comes: the monster king.
Evidently my little dreams weren't just dreams. He and his demon horde were feeding off my lust. Their glowing eyes, sharp teeth, and big…they’re all real.
The Monster King wants me back. I’m their favorite plaything, after all. And I just might want to play.
Monster’s Temptation is book one in the deliciously monstrous Monster & Me duet.
I'm a wife, mother, and author! Writing has always been a passion for me, and publishing my first series is a dream come true. I drink too much caffeine, never sleep, and my imagination is always churning out ideas. Eva and her men have been in my head for awhile, and I'm so glad to finally take you with me on this journey!
Let's be honest here... this story is mostly monster smut.
Is that a 'bad' thing? No, I don't think so.
But if you're someone who prefers more plot over the smut, this one may not be for you.
I gave 3 stars because this is supposed to be a Romance, but I didn't really feel like any of the guys actually LIKE Blake. They definitely use her as a sex toy and she spends exactly ZERO time questioning it. It's not as if they dislike her, but there doesn't seem to be anything beyond using her to have sex.
I'm hoping that there may be more of an emotional connection in the next book. But for now, it was just OK for me.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 🖤💙 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘 World building: 🌏🌍🌎 Character development: 🙂🙁😋 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Blake - her father was a wealthy governor that wanted to run for president when his term was up. Blake couldn’t stand her life; she was bullied at school and nagged by her mother at home and ignored by her father. She was counting the days till she left for Stanford in two months. When she caught her father in a compromising situation. To make sure that she wouldn’t give him away to his constituents, he had her committed to an asylum.
The Story: three years later in the asylum, Blake has erotic dreams every night where she was ravaged by monsters. It was the same four monsters every night. Though she was still a virgin and she was sure that she was actually crazy. Sleeping pills just trapped her in her dreams longer, and the other pills she was given made her a zombie. She refused to take them, though her doctor was trying to get her to take a new medicine in order to stop her dreams and prove she is better to be released. Though she knew her father would never let her leave, though when her mother came to tell her that her father died, she decided it was time to try to get better.
Blake finally made it out of the asylum and was living in a crappy apartment in the worst side of town. She was part of a program to re-integrate into society and worked the graveyard shift at the library ten blocks away. The program was by the asylum, and they gave her weekly blood tests to make sure she was still taking her meds. She took it as soon as she got home after her shift ended at 4 am and then slept through the rest of the day. When she decides to stop taking the meds, her Monster king is there waiting for her, and when she wakes up, he is still there, showing himself in human form.
The Heroes: Creed - The monster king. He and the others have been with Blake with her in her dreams for years. He wants her to let him in so he can bring her home. He and his men are the protectors of their city; they fight the beasts try to break into their city and hunt them. Tempest - he hides in the shadows. His eyes are slits like a serpent; he has fangs and sharp teeth and was always rough with Blake. Ash - he and Seven are twins. He has been blind since birth and his other senses are heightened. His monster form is hideous, yet his human form is beautiful. Seven - twin brother of Ash. He has seven demons living inside of him and drags around chains. Dr.Steele Adams - he is a doctor at Bright Meadows Asylum. He is adamant that Blake takes her meds and stop the dreams. He tells her she can’t let them in.
This was an interesting story, and I had no idea where it was going or what was going to happen. There was a pretty detailed back story about the Shadowburn realm and the city of Wild that the monsters live in. There used to be a queen who was murdered. All the guys were damaged in some way after losing their beloved queen. I think I wasn’t really in the mood for this kind of book though, as I wasn’t fully engaged. So, I am giving it three stars. I do have the second book in this duet and I think I will wait until I am more in the mood for monster romance before getting back into this story There was plenty of steam in this but I am only giving 4 flames for this because I got a bit tired of it.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view and narrated in dual narration by Zara Hampton-Brown and Lucas Webley. Zara Hampton-Brown has a nice, soft voice and sounds fairly young, perfect for Blake. Lucas Webley has a great voice and is terrific at doing different voices for different characters, like a deep, but soft voice for Creed and a more normal sounding voice for Ash.
Awww, yea! I'm re-reading this awesome story in preparation for the release of Monster's Obsession TOMORROW!!!! I'm SO excited!! =====================================
I don't usually like stories about monsters bc I like more "realistic" ones. HOWEVER, after reading about Steele, Creed, Seven and Tempest I can honestly say I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT.
Honestly did not have as much sex as I was expecting/hoping for. More telling than showing and very one dimensional. Didn’t enjoy the FMC or most of the mmcs. Non of them are fleshed out characters.
Ends on a cliffhanger which I hate.

Spoiler free review: Okay this was my first ever monster romance, and I figured don't knock it till you try it, so here we are. Now, surprisingly I didn't mind it as much as I thought I would. The monster aspect probably bothered me the least, even though the mentions of "talons" scraping over her body made me cringe a little. The writing was alright, pretty straightforward and honestly I didn't have many issues with that, and neither did I have issues with the characters overall. As for the things I wasn't a huge fan of, I felt like all the characters were a bit too surface level and two dimensional. I think the book could've been a bit longer just so we can see some relationships form between the characters at the very least. This way it all felt a bit shallow and considering this is a romance novel, the relationships between the characters should be the biggest focus of it, but they didn't felt like it. Also the mental illnesses rep was a bit wobbly as far as DID goes, in my opinion. The smut was great though, very steamy and enjoyable, and I might pick up the sequel later on, but I don't think I'm in a very big hurry with it for now.
First, Ash has my heart He's the sweetest monster ever. So cute how he did everything to set up her room and make her comfortable. Seven is also adorable and how he worries what Blake will think about his scars after the old Queen wouldn't see him again or heal him. And he's the first to say that she's superior to other Queen, who sounded pretty awful. Creed may be the king but I think that he and Tempest fall into the background with Ash and Seven around. Blake was okay, but she really should have known something was going on with Steele before they had to tell her. Even if he was just an unethical shrink. The plot was okay and the world building definitely could have been better. There wasn't much about their world at all beyond describing a few of the other monsters. I didn't think the descriptions were even that great. Like I'm still confused about what Tempest looks like. However, those clearly weren't the point of the book, so I can overlook them because the actual relationships were pretty cute.
DNF. I wanted to like this book. But if you’re putting a disabled character in a book, at least do some research into that disability. Otherwise, you’re just virtue signaling. Because, unless Ash is Ben Affleck playing Daredevil, I don’t understand how he was born blind (but he can read changes in senses), but now he can see exactly what his brother walks in wearing and he knows what the color pink is. 🫠
3.5 stars. Ok. Not gonna lie, I thought there’d be more smut…😂🤷🏻♀️ I mean, there was some. But most of it was while she was sleeping and I feel like it didn’t fully count..? That’s probably a ✨me✨ problem, though.
Hopefully the next book builds up the relationships more. Right now they’re all severely lacking, and it’s making the fun times, less fun.
Alright, let's be real—this book is basically the literary equivalent of a soap opera you watch at 2 a.m. with a bowl of popcorn. It’s spicy, it’s ridiculous, and half the time I was laughing at how over-the-top things got. Like, it’s so absurd that at one point I actually had to pause just to process what I’d read.
The story is… well, calling it "cheesy" doesn’t quite cover it. Between the random family drama, the psych ward plotline that seemed to be there for decoration, and all the melodrama, I was mostly in it for the spice. Let’s just say the family backstory and mental health subplot didn’t exactly add any depth to the narrative—it was like the plot tried to take itself seriously and then promptly forgot how to.
Things only really picked up when we finally got to Wyld, and that’s when I could actually
Monsters Plaything was refreshingly different to any other monster RH romance that I've read recently. Blake's life is one of rigid structure, obedience and absolutely no love especially from her heartless family. Brought home to her when her eyes are opened to how vile her father is when he puts her in an asylum when she finds out what he's been hiding.
Vivid steamy dreams start to get more frequent whilst she's there so that reality and dreams bleed into one. So she doesn't recognise what's true or not? For me the book started to pick up pace when her monsters are introduced and it gets way more hotter. This was a damn fine start to this duet and one hell of a cliffhanger ending. Bring on book 2 now
UM HEAR ME OUT, OKAY??? So... the world-building was not bad, it has the potential to expand if the authors focused more on it, instead of the insane monster porn scenes. Those scenes were easily skippable, so if you ignore them as I did, it can be a pretty interesting foundation for a fantasy series... 🤔 The vocabulary was really limited, you'll read *growl*, *snarl*, and *purr* at least 150 times, but it is kind of expected with monsters, right? The writing style was pretty bland in my opinion, it could've used some work and editing. Like in some parts, the FMC would just describe every single piece of furniture in the room. All in all, this just solidifies that monster romance (read monster porn) is NOT for me.
Read this for what it is, monster smut. Don’t try and get anything out of it. Plot, eh. Does the story move along, yes. I do wish there was more plot though. This whole monster battle and world is pretty cool.
The story follows Blake and her monsters. Monster that visit her in her dreams. What happens when they don’t stay there? Creed, Ash, Seven, and Tempest need Blake. They hunger for her in more ways that one. That’s pretty much it. There’s a fifth monster who is the antagonist which I saw coming a mile away. Of course he’s hiding.
It ends in a massive cliff hanger. So I’m glad book two is out and that’s the end of the series.
In the first 20% of the book, I was so aggravated, I couldn't go on. Pure misery. Her joke life was shit, her school life was shot, and she was put in a crazy home for no good reason, for years, and the doctors were too dumb to know she didn't belong. Sex dreams are completely natural and no doctor that graduated would force you to take meds to get rid of them. Pure ridiculousness.
NOW I DONT WNA TALK ABOUT HOW I READ THIS IN ONE NIGHT OKAY ☝️ you bitches try to sleep when the demon sex city is STARVING 😔
honestly i have never laughed so hard reading a book as i did during this,,, the entire monster inc ass premise (demons can no longer feed off fear so now they feed of pure raw dog boning energy),,,, the Y/N protag being special because she so goddamn horny all the time her sex battery is the only thing powerful enough to fuel the city,,, the fact one of the love interests is called STEELE ADAMS and we’re still supposed to be surprised when there’s more to him than meets the eye 😭😭😭 like it was all jus so completely ridiculous i was filled with what i can only describe as glee as i read these chapters 😭😭😭
like does this plot make any sense?? no but who is picking up monsters plaything for plot and world building?? not me bitch,,, at one point Blake sees a map of the demon world and there r literally only two cities 💀💀 the one she’s in and the one the big bad guy is in 💀💀 and y’know what i respect that bc who gives a FUCK about anything else in this universe apart frm potential boning locations
the writing is very basic and the dialogue can be pretty cringe at times but you sort of accept that by just reading this kind of book.,,, tbh it jus serves the comedy elements more anyway also the fact we get the monster POVs aswell 💀💀💀 the first time it switches to creed like cunt there were tears in my eyes
SO HERES MY OFFICAL MONSTER REVIEW
CREED 👹💋💪- 10/10 first impression for the frilly kiss the cook apron.., i thought he was pretty fun and i appreciated he was always in leather pants killing somethin,,,. seeing as he’s THE monster king tho you’d think he’d be more of a key player in the reverse harem but ig that jus goes to show what a good guy he is,,. he’s not gna cockblock the homies y’know? also the fact that before he became king his main job was jus banging the old queen,,.,, legend,,.., and dare is say? feminist PENIS: red and double headed
ASH 🥹☝️🤓- my favourite 💀maybe bc i’m a huge believer in blind rep in my monster erotica books or maybe bc he was the only one that was genuinely nice to Blake but also he was jus extremely goofy 😋 also props to him for saying they shouldn’t hav sex with her in the club infront of everyone after she’d been spiked.., like the bar is in hell (literally) but in this book that is grounds for sainthood..,, however it must be stated that i was ready to kms when he was having a three way with Blake and HIS OWN TWIN BROTHER PENIS: i literallt don’t remember so probably normal
TEMPEST 🥱🙄🤥- bro like no one gaf about this bitch.,,,. jus kind of slinks around being like i’ll have to sex punish you if you step out of line ☝️🤓 like bro stfu with that tumblr ass dialogue 💀 ig he was good bc he gave other characters opportunities to beat him up n b heroes.,,, so like i didn’t hate him but i jus didn’t care PENIS: unconfirmed (we do not see it in text)
SEVEN 🤢🤮😵💫- ummmmmmm yeah this one the reason this book is getting two stars instead of three..,.. i liked him most of the time (jaw unhinging when giving head had me 😵🫣 like i’m sorry but there’s a reason that’s a time honoured staple in the monster fucker genre) but the non consensual sex scene with him 🤢🤮🙅♀️🙅♀️🙅♀️ no thanks 👍 that is not actually that fun and silly goofy to read.,,,.,, and obviously as the reader we understand that ultimately Blake does “want” it/ this is a fantasy book and that sort of thing is part of the fantasy but along with it being something i’m jus not interested in,, the books internal rationalisation of this is that because she responded physically that must mean she really did want it mentally? and like no? so idk i feel like if ur gna engage with something like that at least b fuckn real about it.,,.,, idk also, while the idea of seven having multiple demons inside him with different personalities is cool.,, it really just served for a way for him to be abusive to blake while still being able to be in love with her and have her love him with no consequences which is lame.,,. that along with the sort of clear real world connections to Dissociative Identity Disorder which is like yikes when again it’s used only to justify being an asshole, anytime mental illness is mentioned in this book at all is pretty yikes tbh Jane and Young r not our allies 😔 PENIS: ribbed for her pleasure (that’s not a joke it fr has ridges)
STEELE ADAMS 🐺👁️👨🏻- bros name jus cracks me up like yeah i coulda guessed what sorta book he was frm.,,.. i like him fine,, is sort weird he fell in love with her when she was a teenager and he was her therapist in a mental hospital, but then i remember he has a huge gray vibrating penis and it makes me laugh so hard i forget about the first part..,.. however at the start he is described as hot with blue eyes and black hair and that is exactly how Blake was described so the entire vibe was siblings or dating and that was very off-putting PENIS: gray and vibrates once inserted
now if we can put aside the thread i hav jus posted exposing seven.,, it must b said that when she first got to the demon kingdom it was giving MAJOR SJM night court vibes 💀💀💀💀 like creed was rhys (dark king that has a rowdy inner circle of bros also there is a scene where he orgasms and ROARS AND SHAKES THE WINDOWS AKA MOUNTAINS) and seven was Az (broody mysterious spy covered in scars) ..,. like i’m sorry but those who get it get it (i wish i didnt)
anyway so yeah 😃😃😃 i would like to tell u all this was fun but i’m ready to move on but tbh i will 100% read the second book.,,.,, like it ends on a cliffhanger and i need closure (i need to know what tempests pee pee is) 🫶 peace and love thank you degenerate for buying this for me as a trip souvenir i will never forgive u or forget 💖💖 this is definitely the most insane book i’ve ever read.,, blows ice planet barbarians out of the water 🐺
“Had I actually allowed my pussy to make decisions based on carnal pleasure?”
Ok, I'm not exactly sure why Amazon would take down this title. I know I've read books that have been way more everything than this one. There must of been a "karen" who went out if her way to have it removed. Thankfully I had already borrowed this with KU before that happened. I was worried it wouldn't download, but lucky me! It did and here I am finished, leaving my 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 review. I won't be returning it until I know it's back up again. It'll just sit nice, and prettily in my kindle app while I wait for book 2 to be released. I really hope they spice things up. I'm loving the whole Monsters romance and their need for lust to survive.
I really got sucked into this crazy ride of a storyline. With so many twists we see Blake go through whilst being held in asylum after her catching her dad in a shocking way. When she stops taking the pills the sexy doctor gave her she finds herself seeing her monsters again and finding out they are real. With some hot steamy scenes throughout we find out the monsters need the lust to feed on and a few other things come to light. To then end the book on a crazy cliffhanger ending.
Okay that was very well different to what I would normally read. I didn’t realise that monsters could do somethings, and then put her to have all all of them together gonna make me go oh okay then I’m not sure if I will read the second book when it comes out.
I don't mind straight up smut without much emotional development, but eh... I kinda hoped this one would have at least a pinch of it. The smut was good though I doubt I'll continue on to the next book 🤗
If you are looking for a morally gray book, look no further! Poor Blake was sent to an asylum by her craptastic parents to keep her quiet about something she witnessed. Then Blake begins to have dreams…can I say that I had zero idea dreams could be so hot? Her monsters are terrible yet so good {{cough cough….Creed and Ash}}. The world building is fantastic, the story line kept me guessing (that cliffie at the end was killer) and the character development is **chefs kiss**. Well done on book 1 in your new Monster & Me series, I seriously cannot wait for the next book to be released!
Monster's Plaything, the first book in the Monster & Me series by C.R. Jane and Mila Young, was a monster loving girls best dream, (literally 😉) and pure absolute 🔥 that will leave you begging for more!!! Full of all things dark and twisted, several deliciously hot and oh so primal monsters, a brave heroine that learns to conquer her fears, and a twist filled plot full of steam…this book has it all!
Blake, our gorgeous FMC, is the daughter of a governor and has lived a life lacking in love and companionship, going through life with only one hope—to escape to Stanford in just a few months. Until one horrible day when she stumbles upon knowledge she was better off not knowing, and her life is ruthlessly and viciously altered. Committed to an insane asylum, Blake struggles to survive in a place she never should have be sent to, finding solace at night with dreams of her hot psychiatrist, Steele.
However those dreams soon turn into so much more when four deliciously scary monsters take over, ravaging her mind, body and soul for three long years, creating an addiction that pulls Blake in and always leaves her craving more. Until Blake receives news of her fathers death, and realizes that she might finally be released from this prison…if she takes her meds like a good girl. Meds that prohibit her from dreaming of her monsters. Monsters that aren’t happy with this decision at all, as they’re not just figments of Blake’s imagination after all. They’re real. And they need the lust and power that Blake provides to feed their kingdoms and replenish their city, and they’ll do anything to get her back. Even kidnap her…
Overall if fast burn, steamy, dark and filthy smut filled monster RH romances are your thing…grab this one today! This unique RH monster story was well written with dynamic characters and a twist filled plot that will pull you in and leave you on the edge of your seat. I can’t wait for the next book because that delicious cliffhanger ending was everything!!!
im sorry but this book is so bad 😭😭 the writing drones on in run on sentences and repeated words and sounds. if you want monster smut this is it but poorly written.. theres better i PROMISE
This was a great book. It started a little slow with the build up but as I reached the ending, I didn’t want it to end and was instantly craving the next book!
Blakes real life was already a nightmare with her mother and father. After witnessing something she shouldn’t have, her father sent her away to be silenced. The newest inmate…er resident at Bright Meadows Asylum.
Fast forward three years later and Blakes dreams are the only thing keeping her locked up. Every night she’s sucked into an erotic dreamscape with the same four monsters. And every morning she wakes up wanting more.
When her dreamy, handsome, psychiatrist, Dr Steele Adams convinces her to take the new meds to get rid of her dreams. She realizes it’s her only way to escape and Two months later, in the “real world” - the dreams are gone and she’s finally free. Only when the monster King shows up from her dreams in real life, she realizes something was missing in her life. Creed, Ash, Seven and Tempest are real. The monsters she dreamed of want her and are determined to have her.
When she wakes up in the city of Wyld, in the realm of Shadowburn…things aren’t what they seem. Can these monsters really love her? Someone is after her, who can she trust? Is Steele really who he says? Can she replace the Red Queen? ***
This book was great! The steam was nice but I’m ready for more! I was not expecting Steele and I want to get more “feelings” from all of the characters instead of just lust. I felt like it was really lacking in character development between the characters so I’m really hoping for more in book 2! This was a page turner you don’t want to put down. It was a quick read and you don’t want it to end at all. I enjoyed Blakes character and wanted to beat her parents up so bad! Lol. This girl definitely needs her HEA! Can’t wait for the next book.
“After an entire life of never being wanted. I couldn’t get enough of him…and his friends”
*Overall 4/5 *Heat? 4/5 *No triggers *First person POV *Ends on cliffhanger
That first couple of chapters and the imagery we get of Blake's dad OMG! That lives in my head rent free.
After witnessing something she is not meant to, Blake is thrown into Bright Meadows Asylum labelled crazy and there she stays for the next 3 years.
We see a little bit of her life in ther Asylum and her sexy as sin psycharist Dr. Steele. Not long into her stay she has erotic dreams of 4 monsters doing some sexually kinky shit and is left wanting more when she wakes up.
Won't go into it as its a short read things start happening when is let out of the Asylum and is transported to another world. The one where her 4 monsters Creed, Ash, Seven and Tempest are from. Part of the Shadowburn world she is in the city of Wyld, which apart from all types of monsters living there and being the only human. There are alot of unanswered questions and mystery.
The spice was good, hoping it ramps up in book 2 and i'm wanting more from the characters.
And that cliffhanger, while not huge it wants you wanting to know what is going to happen to Blake and her monsters.
Started strong, then went pretty slow through the middle, then ended good. This is the first book so I chalk this up to being the world building part of this story. I have the second book so I'm interested to see how it continues!
This is a RH btw. I didn't realize this until I started reading. The description is a little vague. I was under the impression that the monster king went by "they" since she wouldn't really know how monster anatomy worked. It's still an interesting story and the sexy scenes balance out with the story so it was still worth reading.
