The Starlight Chronicles #1-4

The Starlight Chronicles: Collector Set One

Rate this book
It's been 10 years since the release of Slumbering, and it's time to celebrate -- especially since Hamilton's struggles are as relevant today as they were back when C. S. Johnson penned his first misadventures.

When a narcissistic teenage boy finds out he has supernatural powers, he's eager to use them for his own gain more than he's willing to use them to save his city. But with the help of his part-time allies, Starry Knight and Elysian, can he step up and learn to be a hero?

Includes:

Slumbering, Book 1
Awakening: A Christmas Episode
Calling, Book 2
Falling: A Starry Knight Episode
Submerging, Book 3
Seeing, A Wedding Episode
Remembering, Book 4
Belonging: A Date Night Episode

This is a collection of the first four books in the series, so no issues with starting here. And having four books all at once is really important for your enjoyment of the story.

This is a young adult urban fantasy story with demons and other monsters about. The story is well written and the premise quite intriguing. The problem with the story is the hero, our main character, in that he is a total jerk and completely unlikeable throughout the first book, and only marginally better in the second. That made it really hard for me to become invested in the story. Fortunately, things start to turn around in books three and four and that makes all the difference. So I recommend you stick with it as the reward will be worthwhile.

I have so enjoyed this amazing and truly magical first series in the Starlight Chronicles which introduces us to two superheroes Starry Knight and Wingdinger, aka Raiya and Hamilton, both students in Apollo City which is being attacked by demons and the sinisters led by Orpheus. The heroes turn out to be fallen stars and this series takes us through their teen years of discovery both about their past, who they really are and their own personal development and romance. I have posted a review for each book independently but I found the fallen stars idea so fascinating I encourage everyone to start reading this series! I am starting on the 2nd set of the chronicles today and so looking forward to continue reading!

These four books were full of the interesting and exciting journey of two fallen stars that were on earth in human bodies. Starry Night and Humdinger with his changeling Elysian had powers from the prince and were placed to protect humans and capture the demons that plagued Apollo City. Raiya and Hamilton were in a love/hate relationship in their regular and superhuman identities while juggling their alter identities with their highschool problems, friends and demons. These stories had danger, love, secrets, intrigue, mystery and fun twists throughout. Good read.

While I did read these books separately rather than purchasing the set, I would recommend the whole set because it's hard to wait for the next one, believe me!! CS Johnson is a great fantasy and YA writer, and I just can't get enough of her books and love giving them as gifts, especially to the young readers in my family.

I really tried to like this series. But it was so long and drawn out. One book would of covered the whole series. And then might have gotten a higher rating. I can't recommend this book.
