The second book in the series - Shifters of Black Forest Ridge Romance by Sedona Venez is another super sharp, dark, and deliciously sexy with a well-built plot. The tumultuous journey of Rhett and Nova is one of self discovery and is emotional. I love how dark and edgy it got, but still so passionate and heartfelt.
“Shifters of Black Forest Ridge: Rhett: A Fated Mates Paranormal Romance” is the second book in the series - Shifters of Black Forest Ridge Romance by Sedona Venez. It does not disappoint! It is another breathtaking, imaginative, creative, intriguing and amazing story from start to finish! Each book tells its own story, but it is much more enjoyable if you read all of them. I enjoy the way, the characters from the first story appear throughout the story. The characters are well written, have depth and the plots are original. This is the love story of Rhett and Nova. Nova King never knew her father and had a difficult relationship with her mother. She left home to study and became a licensed nurse midwife and enjoyed her career. When her mother died, she returned home and found a letter addressed to her from her father in her mother’s possessions. The letter gives her directions to Black Forest Ridge, Alaska and a place not found on any map but where she will find her paternal grandmother. She is a Hybrid jaguar shifter but does not know it. She did not even know that shifters or Others existed. Life is full of surprises. LOL Rhett Ward is a jaguar shifter and sheriff aka protector of the town He is former military and his pack is made up of his closest friends. His animal is angry at him for not finding his fated mate yet. Rhett and Nova first meet when Nova saw Henry shifting from horse to human and he calls the sheriff on her for trespassing. Nova and Rhett immediately clash and he takes her to the police station for questioning. Her grandmother Bonnie comes to the station to meet her and tells her about shifters and the Ridge. And the story takes off! They both feel the electrical connection of mates and they both resist! Some residents of Black Ridge do not trust Nova and want her gone, some adore her and know that a midwife will be a great addition to the town. The suspense builds and the story has mystery, excitement, is fast paced and is a lovely romantic love story. Sedona Venez is a gifted and an amazing writer. It is hard to put the book down from page one to the last page! Can’t wait for the next story!
Nova is going to Black Forest Ridge to find her paternal grandmother. After her mother died she found a letter from her father, who abandoned them, with directions on how to find his mother. But when she goes through the wards protecting the town, it causes her car to break down. With no cell service, she has no other choice but to walk into town.
When Rhett, the town sheriff and protector, gets a call from the local horse shifter telling him there is a hybrid trespassing on his property. He knows he better get there fast before Henry takes matters into his own hands. When he first sees Nova, he knows she is his mate. But seeing how it’s obvious she doesn’t know that shifters exist, he figures he better take her into custody until he figures out how she got through the wards and what she is doing in town.
These two start out their relationship with a bang, as in they both hate each other! Things go down hill from there for a while. As Nova gets to know her grandmother and finds out her family history, things start to get exciting. Half the town wants her dead and the other half wants her run out of town!
A great book with lots of action and humor! Don’t miss it!.

Nova King, a hybrid jaguar who has no idea she is a shifter, sees a letter from her father among her mother’s possessions. She had always wanted to know why her estranged father had abandoned her. The letter contains directions for finding Black Forest Ridge in Alaska and she still has relatives there. So she decides to get answers to her questions by paying them a visit. Rhett Ward is a jaguar shifter as well as the Sheriff. He has not yet found his mate and he risks having to be put down if he goes feral.
When Nova’s car stalls out and wouldn’t restart, she tries to find help rather than spend the night in her SUV. She sees a gray horse running in a field, not knowing he is a shifter. The shifter, Henry, calls the Sheriff since Nova was trespassing on his property. Bonnie, Nova’s grandmother, shows up at the Sheriff’s office and tells her all about shifters. She also tells Nova that she is part of a long line of Hunters on her mother’s side. When Rhett learns this, he is hesitant to claim Nova as his mate since his own sister Maggie was killed by Hunters during his time in the military. But when Nova is alleged to have murdered a shifter, will Rhett step in to find the real killer? Will he change his mind about accepting his mate?
This was an entertaining and fast paced story. I have started the series with this book but found that I had no troubles finding my way without book one. Now that I've read Rhett, though, I want to go back and dive into Quinn's story ;) Nova and Rhett really started off on the wrong page with each other and things kind of went down hill from there. So much chemistry can't be denied, though, and it was entertaining to see her call Rhett on his verbal gaffs. They were a hoot to follow as they found their way together. Of course, there is danger, death, family found and a fair bit of drama woven around their steamy romance and, for me, it was a one-sit read. Good fun!
Damn!! That's sad about what happened 2 the old guy, Henry and the others. Rhett is the chief of police and protector. When a woman comes unexpectedly 2 town 2 find the only living relative she has left she finds out alot of unexpected things about herself. Rhett wants 2 hold sumthing against her 4 no real reason. Can they find their way 2 b 2gether or will she leave 4ever? Read and find out. It had it's ups and downs. I loved it.
We go back to Black Forest Ridge and spend time with the characters we love and know, so well. This book centers around Rhett and Nova. Rhett is the town sheriff and overall protector. Nova is on a mission to find her paternal grandmother. Rhett knows she is his mate upon first meeting her but she has no idea about shifters. There is a lot of action and lies and betrayal in this book. I can’t wait for the series to continue.
He was the sheriff of the town and he was the protector of the town, so when she showed up and his lion wait to keep her the memories of his sister came back and she couldn't be his mate. She was looking for her grandmother when she saw a horse turn into a man then star yelling at her to get off his property, she couldn't believe her eyes.
The author has taken us back to Black Forest Ridge to spend time with our friends and pull us into the lives of Rhett and Nova. The story keeps us turning the pages with secrets, connection, denial and steam.
