Titans never got the mates they were promised. Solcrue and CSP have figured out CyberTitans can't resist trying to rescue human females. If the Solcrue capture and decommission enough cyborgs, they will attain total dominion over the galaxy, which means humans will be forced to serve them forever. CyberTitans and humans have to work together if they want to survive.
Redline: I assume it's a trap. The escape pod that rockets across the sky is a Solcrue vessel. My scanners tell me the occupant is human. Savage warned me to be careful on our private channel, but my programming won't listen. There's a human in need of help.
Everything I do is at maximum throttle. I race through the forest to the crash site only to discover I'm too late. Solcrue have found and captured the escapee. She's in bad shape yet still stuns me into a full stop. The female fights hard, relentlessly...with everything she has.
I'm overheating. I don't think it's because of the run this time. I've finally found someone else like me.
Aniah: I thought with the alien Solcrue distracted by hunting CyberTitans that I had a chance of escaping the warship I was forced to serve on. But I'm not a pilot. When Solcrue shot at me, the pod's autopilot failed. Now I'm stuck on a mostly deserted planet with a blazing headache from the crash, cyborgs, and Solcrue, none of which I like. It doesn't take long for the Solcrue to find me.
As they escort me off toward the outpost, I notice a faint red light in the forest. A pair of glowing eyes of the same color peek through leaves. When the CyberTitan straightens, I get a glimpse of his powerful, naked structure. A wisp of smoke curls up at his feet, and he darts off into the shadows.
Titans are more powerful than any other creature in the galaxy. They have always terrified me. I want to tell the Solcrue that a Titan circles the camp because I know it will mean a lesser punishment for my disobedience. Then I hear the last words of my friend in the back of my mind. "They're built to protect us first, fight for us if necessary. CyberTitans can't hurt you, and they won't want to. They're more human than any Solcrue."
I don't want to serve the Solcrue again. I want to live my own life. I hope the Titan comes back for me.
A steamy, fast-love, one-love, HEA with violence and cursing.
Redline is the second sci-fi book in the Hunted Relics series, where humans are the lower class and Titans are used and abused by a race that takes what it wants and spits everything else out. Resistance is the only way to bring them to their knees, and that means uniting machines and humans. If only they could keep everyone safe.
Beneath their tough exterior lies a big-hearted man more human than machine, who would do anything to keep her safe. I genuinely enjoyed it.
Aniah has been a slave to the Solcrue for a long time, as are all humans. She and some of the other women are planning to escape. When the opportunity arises, they make a break for it in some pods. Unfortunately for Aniah she is recaptured by the Solcrue as soon as her pod hits the planet. She knows she is in big trouble now!!
Redline is doing surveillance on the surface of the planet to monitor what the Solcrue are up to. The Cyborgs know the Solcrue are trying to find them so they are keeping an eye on them. When Redline sees a pod land and the female on board taken away by the Solcrue, he is immediately drawn to her and resolves to rescue her and take her back to the caves. He stages a daring rescue and begins the long journey home. But when Aniah tells him there were other pods and he finds one she wants him to rescue these girls too. Is he willing to take on a whole camp of Solcrue to rescue three other humans, because if they are caught he will be terminated immediately!
This book is fast paced with lots of action. Don’t miss this one!
This cyborg MMC was created from neuro divergent DNA and it's super interesting to see how that plays out in his special abilities.
“I do not possess hesitation skills when I am in redline mode. I get an external trigger, and I switch on. I run. I fight. I sit. There is no in-between. I operate at full throttle or barely at all. It took me years to learn to walk and communicate at the same time. It’s why I’m called redline. I operate at the maximum potential of my being.”
It is so similar to the hyperfocus and burn out of ADHD, but more useful. It might be nice to have a display in my brain that told me when to stop doing something or else.
I also spent some time totally agreeing and yet wondering why it would be so important to human men to keep the cyborgs separate from all humans. I think it's about male ego - cyborgs would make human men feel inferior. And the human men relate to women as objects that they don't want cyborgs touching.
Redline is an all or nothing personality in some respects... He can go full tilt, "red line" his speed, etc., and risk overheating to get the job done... but in Aniah he meets someone worth slowing down (a little) for, and teaching himself some self-control.
Aniah hasn't interacted with CyberTitans before, and is not entirely sure she is ready for her first experience, but sometimes you have to take a leap of faith out of the frying pan and pray the fires have already been put out.
There is a great moment in this book where many characters would have labored over a decision, but Redline took one look at Aniah and knew which was to turn. The decision was not made based on the easiest course, or the path of least resistance, but mutual respect between two individuals. I was half in love with this couple already, but that was when I knew they had the magic spark that would keep the pages turning right up to the end.
These characters were fun, especially liked the FMC. Though she did jump from one personality to another dramatically fast…
The story and world building is just getting more involved, and is addicting. I only regret we spent so little time or interaction with any outside the main couple. That was a definite disappointment.
The romance, while still super fast, at least felt like it had a journey and development, even if I still didn’t fully buy into the idea of undying love just yet.
Still a great, fun, action filled adventure, with some fast, safe, smexy times. Hints of humour, smirky style.
Aniah is just starting to think Titans may not be the enemy when she wearily meets Redline. He doesn’t even stop to think he’s risking his life to safe her. She’s feisty and doesn’t give into the enemy despite punishment. She’s more than ready to rebel. The attraction between them slowly starts to grow amidst constant danger.
Redline the CybrTitan fights for freedom. For himself, his brother titans, and (because of his programming) for humans. Freeing Aniah gives him another reason to fight - he falls in love. It's an awesome story, a hot romance, and the next in series is on my one-click list.
I found Sybur Phyre recently and she impressed me,so now I'm after all her books! Aniah was a slave to Solcrue for a long time but never gave up trying to escape ,after being captured again she's rescued by Redline. He falls hard but their path is dificult, and there's danger all around.... A sweet love story with a protective cyborg and a fierce human.I recomend!
I love Aniah and Redline. The story is quick, spicy, and explainable of how that toe in to others. Aniah brings inside information to the Resistance at the same time, a true meaning of love and service for Redline.
Discovering Sybur Phyre was a fluke, but remaining an avid reader of her cyborgs is a must.
Redline is an amazing character! He had me worried there a few times, but it's nice that they were able to save each other and also get the other girls free. Aniah starts out fearful, but she gains courage and fight through it all. Great story and fast moving.
Aniah has escaped the enemy ship only to be captured on landing. Redline comes to her rescue. Then the two of them set out to rescue others. Wild ride! Enjoy
Redline is book 3 in the Hunted Relics series and I recommend reading this series in order; start with Amp and move forward from there. The Hunted Relic series is proving to be an entertaining binge read!
As we get to know the CyberTitans better I realize they are so much more than what we think they are. With lots of action, interspecies betrayal, secrets, challenges and very intriguing CyberTitans and their feisty Human women you can’t go wrong here!
