Kincaid Brothers #4

Stay Together

Rate this book
Rushton

From the moment I see her, I’m hooked. There’s just something about Crosby that has me eager to know her. One thing’s for sure, I can’t stay away from the new kindergarten teacher with the kind smile and secrets in her brown eyes.

There’s no hiding in a small town, and she’s suddenly everywhere. My family loves her, my niece won’t stop talking about her, and I…well, I just want to make her mine.

Crosby is everything I didn’t know I was looking for, but the wall she keeps up makes it impossible to love her the way I want to. I have to figure out how to tear it down, and fast— because she’s not so sure she’s sticking around, and I’m not prepared to let her walk away from Willow River… or me.

Crosby

Another new town, another new school. But this time I’m not the struggling new kid; I’m the teacher. It’s hard to let go of my past, when it refuses to let go of me. I live in a constant state of unease, never knowing what the future holds. Especially when it comes to love.

Rushton isn’t like other guys. He’s open and honest. What you see is what you get. He’s made his intentions very clear. But I’m afraid getting involved only spells heartbreak for both of us. If growing up in foster care taught me anything, it’s not to get too close and definitely don’t get comfortable.

So, I learned to be good at goodbye. But for the first time in my life, I’ve found a place I want to put down roots. Rushton, his family, Willow River, my students—they all make me wish for once that I could stay. That we could… stay together.

Honest to god, I did not think I would enjoy this one as much as I did, but I think I'm in love.

I'm a big sucker for big family things or things with family themes - so I absolutely adored this. Not to mention Rushton (as a character) is a complete hearthrob.

10/10 would read again to re-live this magical experience.

sidenote: I think what's funny is that as a kid I used to avoid books that look like this, and now I unironically read them. How the turn tables.

Another Kincaid Brother falls in love, and I think this is the best book in the series!

Rushton Kincaid falls hard, just like his brothers. However, the new kindergarten teacher Crosby will not make it easy for him. She has relied on herself without backup; the walls around her heart are high. Will Rush break through her armor, and the girls pull her into the family?

Kaylee Ryan writes her characters who are relatable, families we would love to be part of, and her men are so swoon-worthy.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Normally, Kaylee Ryan's books work for me. I hate to say it, but I struggled with Stay Together. I wanted to love it. I've enjoyed this series so far. It started out cute, but quickly went downhill from there for me.

I didn't connect with the characters. I understood Crosby has had a tough life up until moving to town and meeting the Kincaids. I felt sad for her. That being said, the way she used it as an excuse over and over and over and over and over again to push Rushton away was really annoying after about the second time it was mentioned. I was embarrassed for her and insulted for Rush with the whole "Let's pretend." thing.

Rush... I'm not sure how I felt about him. He was the alpha protector like his siblings before him, but it ended up coming off a little disturbing with how he didn't want to take Crosby's "no" for a final answer when it came to spending time with him.

At times, this book felt more like women's fiction than romance. So much of the focus was on Crosby becoming friends with all the Kincaid women and family. All their hangouts started to feel redundant with each character from previous books having an interaction. Honestly, it slowed things down and things got boring. I had to push myself to keep reading. Which is weird because I have loved those characters in the past books. It felt like maybe 30% of this book was the romance between Crosby and Rush. And because of that the end felt very rushed. I guess I needed more romance.

Like I said before, I wanted to love this book. It's the first time in the series that I've wondered if nine brothers may have been too many for a series. Although, I am still curious about Ryder and the twins.

Stay Together- Rushton and Crosby

Another sweet read. Each brother is dropping fast, now it’s Rushton’s turn and he has his eyes set on Blakely’s teacher.

Rushton loves that his family is growing. More sisters, more babies, and he admits that he would like a turn. When he runs an errand for one of his brothers, he sees a new face in the hardware store. She is struggling to reach an item, so being the gentleman he offers to help. She is beautiful and he can’t stop looking at her. It’s a small town so they will most likely see each other often. She ends up being Blakely’s kindergarten teacher.

Crosby is moving into town as she found a job as a teacher. The contract is only one year but she has only been a substitute so she is excited to have her own classroom and students. She is also thrilled to have a place to go home to, a place of her own, even if it is a rental. She has had a rough childhood and no matter how many times to gorgeous Rushton asks her out, she just can’t go there. But circumstances will change that will finally bring them together.

Another sweet read. Love the world that was created with the Kincaid men. Each book takes off immediately following the one prior so I would read in order. On to the next.

This is the story for the 4th Kincaid brother - Rushton. I think that it was quite alright. He definitely fell in love first. What I liked about him was that he never gave up, he was determined to win Crosby's heart all through the end. And honestly, which person with their right mind will not fall for him. He was perfect.

Crosby on the other hand was his niece's kindergarten teacher. She was beautiful, smart and sexy. She was a strong heroine and was standing up to her decision to not fall for Rush.

Even that I liked the book, I was quite irritated by the tug and pull war Crosby was playing. I do understand where she is coming from when it comes to commitment, but still.

This is what bothered me and this is why my star rating is 4 stars for the book.

I received an ARC of this book, all opinions are my own and this is my voluntary review.

“I need to hear you tell me that this is real. That we’re going to stay together.” “This is as real as it gets. We’re going to stay together. You’re stuck with me forever.”

This is fourth book in the Kincaid Brother series.

Rush is at the point in his life where he wants what his brothers have a wife and kids. One day Rush meets and helped Crosby who is new in town, not just once but twice and now he can’t stop thinking about her. Crosby is the new kindergarten teacher who hasn’t had the easiest life and all she ever wanted was a place to call home. With her new job in Willow River, things might actually be looking up for once all she needs is to get a permanent position at this school and she can finally call this place home. For the moment Crosby met Rush she knew he wasn’t like any guy she met before. But she carries a lot of trauma and insecurities and despite her feelings for Rush she decides to keep him at arm’s length afraid of being heartbroken again and leaving this place that she loves so much. Rush refuses to give up and will take whatever she will give him even if it’s just friendship and once his family meets her they all formed a bond with her. And for the first time in Crosby life she has people that care about her and for the first time she doesn’t want to say goodbye. Will she finally give into their HEA or will she be to afraid to risk it?
Their chemistry was great from start to finish. This book was such a good slow burn and watching him never give up on her or the future he see for them was so sweet. I enjoyed how their friendship develops first and how their relationship develops because of it. I loved all their moments together from their time with Blakely to them pretending even just for the night even though he wasn’t pretending to her finally admitting her feelings for him.

I would recommend if you like:

I absolutely loved Crosby and Rushton’s story. How can you not when it comes to Rushton?! He is the most amazing guy I’ve ever seen. He is so patient and affectionate and loving. He never gives up when it comes to showing Crosby his real feelings for her. Yes, she needed space because of her issue but he never shied away from letting her know that he will always wait for her to get to the same page as him. I mean, SWOONING!! You have to read this. I can’t gush about this book enough. And of course, the Kincaids are amazing, they took Crosby into the fold immediately and treats her like she’s never been before.

Wow...Rush really had to work for it with for Crosby. Her hesitations make perfect sense once you know her background. What I love about Crosby being with Rush is she not only gets the guy, she also gets the loud family and tons of friends, all wanting her around, something she has missed out on so far in her life. It was great to see how this one ended, them happy and living their dream!

I think Rushton just might be my favorite Kincaid. I loved him so much. I loved how he knew he couldn't stay away from Crosby but struggled with knowing if she was the one. Then when he figured it out he was so patient and sweet with her while she struggled with her own issues. These two were so perfect together. I loved watching them fall together. Loved watching Crosby fall in love with the Kincaid family. She had me tearing up a few times. Such a great read. And we can't forget miss Blakely. Blakely really came out to play in this one and she sure did shine. I adore that little girl.

Well

I hate it, but I didn't love this.
I understand that Crosby had a bad childhood, but she was such a buzz kill for over 90% of the book. Rushton's OTT sappy behavior wasn't enough to save this for me.
I really hope that Ryder's story doesn't end up a carbon copy of this one because it really feels like it might be, especially with a non committal heroine.

I've rated this book 4 stars, but it's the only one of the Kincaid Brothers books that made me cry at the end (emotional tears, not sad)

Crosby Greene grew up in foster homes, bouncing from one to another or back to state housing again. She had one significant boyfriend who was unfaithful with the one person she'd considered a friend. She doesn't trust easily, and she's determined to take care of herself. She's in a one-year contract to teach kindergarten in Willow River, and she isn't willing to start up any friendships or relationships until she is feeling more secure.

Enter Rushton Kincaid and his entire family. They're going to surround, support, and love anyone who finds themselves with even a little toe inside the family circle. Rush vacillates between thinking Crosby is "the one" and not being sure because she is holding him at arm's length, refusing to allow him (or any of his sisters-in-law) to get close enough to her to KNOW her. Her story comes out to different people at different times, including Rushton. He can't stay away - largely due to his family motto (and advice from his dad and all his brothers) "Work hard - Love harder" (which really works in this series, although they do seem to say it A LOT.

Oooh to be on the receiving end of all the love Kincaid's have to offer.

I've been with this family since day one and their motto has really come to life in this book. Because if there was ever a woman who needed to be loved harder than Crosby, I'm not sure there is one. She's been alone all her life and when Rush and his family shower her with affection and love, she can't believe in it and tries her hardest to push him away. But Rush see just how special she is and is determined to take one step at a time to make sure she knows and feels what he's feeling, and that is that she's him body and soul.

Everybody is pairing up slowly and I'm so excited to see what's in store for the remaining bunch. If the trajectory is anything to go by, we're in for a treat.

I have really enjoyed all of the Kincaid Brother's book, and this one was no exception.

I liked both Rushton and Crosby and I believed in their attraction. I did think she was a little too difficult on him in places (and I was frustrated with her), but at the same time, I totally understood why as the author did a really strong job with showing why this woman would be reluctant to get involved with anyone.

I was engaged enough in the story to be frustrated with the author, and I was willing to see where things went with them, and wanted them to have their happily ever after, which of course they got.

The supporting characters are also likeable, and it's fun to see the little updates on the other brothers through the story as the book progress, but it's also possible to read this one as a standalone without knowing the backstory.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

Stay Together by Kaylee Ryan is the 4th book In her Kinkaid Brothers series; however, each book can be read as a standalone. Ruston was not ready for Crosby, but once they met, he was all in and determine to show her how special she really is. Swoon! Rushton was determined, sexy, and caring. His patience stole my heart right from the start. Crosby does not trust or let people in easy. She knows what it means to be alone and have no one to count on. She is more reserved and carries a lot from her past that make the walls around her hard to break down.

I loved how persistence he was to show her how much he cared, but also patient with her. She struggled to let him in because of her past. Their journey was not easy, but I loved watching them fall and how supportive everyone was. Another great book in the series!

Happy reading!

This is book 4 in the series , this story follows Rushton and the girl he can't live without Crosby.

Rushton and Crosby meet at a hardware store, while both picking up some fishing line and it being just out of reach for Crosby, after Rushton helps get it down he ends up changing her tyre and sadly not getting her digits.

They run into each other a few times and for Rushton he's smitten straight away but for Crosby who's new to town and after having a rough upbringing and only signing on a year contract at the elementary school she doesn't want to start something if she could be leaving in a year.

Good, but the romance fell flat. It was a book about her friendship with the sister in laws. It was a book about her building relationships with the family & fitting in with them. Her falling for Rush wasn't the focal point and I was sad about that. They weren't the main point in my opinion until I got to about 80% finished with the book. Love the Kincaid brood, but I want the romance, the possessive and love struck hero. This one fell a little flat. :(

Just when you think you can't love the Kincaids more, Kaylee gives you Rushton.

This is the fourth book about the Kincaid brothers and it was everything.

Rushton and Crosby are so everything you can imagine in a slow burn romance. Crosby is hesitant to get attached because of understandable reasons, however Rush just waits patiently.

I loved every minute of them finally getting their HEA.

Blakely as always is so adorable she's my favorite Kincaid to be honest.

This was so amazing! Entertaining and sweet with these seriously wonderful characters. I loved every sweet, heart-wrenching, crazy, mixed-up minute of this book. It was an emotional journey from the first chapter to the last. If you're a fan of contemporary romance that hits all of the marks, this is one for your TBR, and it should be right at the top. Five stars for STAY TOGETHER. Pickup this book, you will enjoy every page.

5 When You Know, You Know Stars!!

I don’t know how Kaylee Ryan does it, but each book in this series makes me love this family more and more. I loved Crosby so much and how tenuous she felt about exploring a relationship with Rush. Her whole life has changed recently and this man who has popped into her life makes her want everything she thought she’d never had…but there’s something holding her back. Leave it to the Kincaid’s and how welcoming and loving their family is.

I’ve got to give credit to Rush though. He has the patience of saint while he waits for Crosby to come into their love. He wasn't overbearing or pushy too much. He knew that she was the one for him and that she not only needed and loved him, but needed his family too. This family is all about love and bringing these women into their fold that truly blossom with all the love they receive.

The connection between these two is sweet and hot at the same time. I loved watching her become confident in his love and realizing that maybe waiting isn't all that it’s cracked up to be!

And let's talk about Blakely… I love this little girl. She's sassy, sweet and so loving. And it's nice to see she's still got all her uncles wrapped around her little finger. As the younger kids get older I can see her being "the boss" of them and getting into all sorts of trouble, just like her uncles used to do. I can't wait to see what you have in store for her and the littles as they get older with each book.

This book is a perfect addition to this amazing series and I devoured it from beginning to end and I’m ready to dive back in for another read in the very near future!

Okay. To put it simply, something was off about this book. The male character, as well as all the other male characters, simply didn’t feel like real guys. They felt like fictional characters written by a woman. They were too emotional and sensitive, but not in a masculine way in a feminine way.

For exemple, they would gather around and talk about feelings, like I use to do with my friend when I was 16. Or, they would create group chat to talk about one of their brothers being soooooo in love behind his back. Now, having grown up with two big brothers, let me tell you something that is simply not how real guys act. Therefore, the book felt off. It did not feel real.

The characters were likeable I have to admit (although the constant rejection from the female lead annoyed the hell out of me) but the male lead was simply not attractive. Because of that, i didn’t feel the butterfly feeling I am searching for when I yearn for romance novels…. Disappointing😖

No!

H-Rushton Kincaid
h-Crosby Greene
Crosby moved to Willow River approx an 1hr away from where she lived. She got a job being a kindergarten teacher. She meets Rushton (Rush) at a store and he feels an instant attraction and from there every chapter was the same. She signed up for 1yr in teaching-the school wanted to give her a chance but didn't want to commit. She wanted to give it her all so she can stay, for that reason she doesn't want to build anything with Rushton in the event that she might need to leave. (I get that) She told him this and he decided to wait for her but in the meantime all they do is flirting and she is so indecisive that is driving me crazy. I stopped at Chapter 13 52% I couldn't take it anymore.
I really wanted to love this story but I just to tired of reading the same thing again & again!

I’ve said it four times before and I’ll say it again… These Kincaid Brothers are swoony as hell! I can’t get enough! Kaylee Ryan continues to outdo herself with this series and these characters. If you feel like settling in for a heartwarming story, look no further and pick up Stay Together!!

Stay Together is the fourth novel in Kaylee Ryan’s Kincaid Brothers Series. This novel can technically be read as a standalone, but I feel it’s best read within the series reading order!

Crosby’s life has been a series of rejection after rejection. Growing up as a foster kid taught her to never get comfortable in one place for too long. She’s never allowed herself to dream. She’s learned that all dreamers eventually have to wake up. And given the fact that her ex-boyfriend and ex-bestfriend were caught in the worst act of betrayal is proof that dreams always die in the end. Now Crosby is focused on this New Year in a New Town. She signed a year contract as the new teacher and she’s living out a small tidbit of her dream. She’ll be damned if she lets anything get in the way of signing on for longer. It’s time she finds a place she can finally call home. When Rushton Kincaid steps into her line of sight, she can’t keep the man from filling up every space in her head.

Rushton Kincaid has never felt the need to settle down and live the dream his ‘married’ brothers are currently living. That is until he set his sights on the new kindergarten teacher, Crosby. Now he’s making it his life's mission to show Crosby that she is worthy of a happily ever after. He’ll be everything she should ever want if only she’d open her eyes and give him a chance. Just one chance is all he needs to show her he’s the man for her. Just one chance!

My Thoughts:

S-W-O-O-N!! YES, Kaylee Ryan brought out all the heart eye emojis!! I couldn’t put Rushton and Crosby’s story down! I was consumed from start to finish with Stay Together! Definitely worth the read if you’re looking for a romance with heart, heat, and a bite of angst.

Let’s start with Crosby. Usually, when I write romance reviews I start with the male love interest. But with this novel, Crosby had a great impact on my thoughts. I loved this woman for everything she went through and everything that she continues to go through on a day to day basis. This character, everything from her background to her emotions, was well thought out. Honestly, looking back at the books that came before Stay Together, it has to be said, Crosby is now my favorite female character. I just loved how she endured so much as a kid/teenager/adult and given all that she still shined so bright with grace and kindness. I had so many feelings crashing through me while I read her point of view. But the one that stood out the most was the fact that I wanted to see all of her dreams come true. Crosby is a character I won’t be forgetting anytime soon!

Now onto Rushton. I loved how stubborn this man was. And given the fact that he’s in love with a woman who has been through so much in her life, it takes a stubborn man to plant his feet in the ground and refuse to budge when she tries to push him away. My heart broke time and time again for so much wasted time between the two of them. But at the end of the day, Rushton can say with an honest heart, he was there for Crosby from the moment he met her. And that’s why I loved Rushton so much. This man worked hard and loved harder for the woman he wanted by his side forever.

I can’t believe how much I’ve swooned over this series! Every book has cast an irreplaceable smile on my face. I feel so giddy every time we get closer to a new release date! The Kincaid Brothers Series is quickly becoming one of my favorite series… EVER! Kaylee Ryan brings all the feels to her novels!
Now onto my rating, I had initially gave Stay Together a four star rating. But after sitting here for a few hours and writing my review. It’s come to my knowledge, I may have loved this novel a hell of a lot more than what I first thought and that’s why I decided to switch my rating from a four star to a full five star rating! I’m in love with all the characters! There’s never a dull moment and never a moment when I’m let down. Kaylee Ryan is hands down one of my favorite authors and it’s all because of this one series!!

If you haven’t started the Kincaid Brothers Series and you love swoony and sweet romances, I highly recommend you give this series a try! You won’t be sorry!!

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

Rushton Kincaid is the middle brother, he has watched his 4 older brothers find their forever and start families, he wants that too. When he meets Crosby he is instantly attracted to her and wants to get to know her better. But, Crosby has had a rough childhood, grew up in foster care, and was betrayed by her friend and boyfriend, they slept together, all that makes her very cautious. When he tries to get her number she doesn’t give it to him. Even when he helps her with a flat tire. But Willow River is a small town and of course they run into each other again. She meets Alyssa when she takes her car to Kincaid auto to get her tire replaced Alyssa invites her to book club and their friendship gets started. Once she meets all the other ladies, she is instantly part of the group. Crosby is the new kindergarten teacher at Willow River Elementary, she has a one year contract and is hoping to make Willow River her permanent home. She has never had a permanent home before. Her job brings another link to the Kincaid’s, she is Blakely’s kindergarten teacher.
Rush is still trying to get her to agree to a date and she keeps resisting. This was irritating until you hear more of how sad and unloving her upbringing was, she learned early on she could only rely on one person, herself. She has set goals for herself and wants to wait till she is sure she will be offered a new contract teaching before she gets involved with Rush. But the whole Kincaid clan makes it real hard, they include her in everything, girl's night, book club, Blakely and uncle Rush dinner night, visiting Orrin & Jade’s new baby in the hospital, baby sitting the Kincaid babies, and Sunday night family dinners. Plus the Kincaid twins live next door.
She fights her attraction to Rush but he follows his family motto to love hard and walks a fine line between stalking/harassing and being there for her. The time they spend together and the more he gets to know her solidifies his feelings for her. Their first time is after girl’s night, she and Rush (he hung out with the guys) are pretty tipsy, she wants to be with him, so she tells him they can pretend for one night they are together. The sex is sweet and hot, no condom, she’s on the pill. The next morning Rush tells her he wasn’t pretending, he’s all in with her. This freaks her out and after some yelling she asks him to leave. He tells her he is leaving her house not her. Weeks turn into months and still he is there for her, with texts, phone calls, dropping off dinner, and seeing her at family get togethers and telling her he is in love with her. That night they are together again and this time Rush tells her there is no pretending, he is making love to her because he loves her.
A bit more back and forth mentally for Crosby until she decides she loves him and is willing to risk the heartbreak even if the school doesn’t renew her contract and she has to move away. She’s going to tell Rush she loves him too when she realizes she hasn’t had her period, and quick trip the next town over to the pharmacy confirms she’s pregnant. When she tells Rush she loves him too he is thrilled then she tells him she is pregnant and he is over the moon. They tell the family on Christmas Day. Rush’s mom has a special gift for Crosby, a new teaching contract for five years. Lots of hugs and well wishes from everyone. They get married a couple of months later. Crosby is not alone anymore she has a family, a very large loving family - eight brothers in law, four sisters in law, cousin in law and lots of nieces and nephews, and family friends. She is a Kincaid.
Crosby’s resistance was a little annoying especially when she wanted to pretend with Rush, she was hurting him even though she didn’t want to, but her past made it hard to be mad at her, she was trying to protect both of them. Rush was hard to resist he was such a sweetheart and the whole Kincaid clan is awesome especially Blakely and all the new babies.
Looking forward to the remaining brothers books.
