Star quarterback Marcus Kingston lives and breathes football… Until an injury on the field nearly ends his career. When his coaches want him to wear biofeedback technology to analyze his game, Marcus thinks the idea is ridiculous. Plus, the mousy scientist behind the project knows nothing about sports. But with another Quarterback waiting on the sidelines, Marcus can either agree to participate, or get benched—permanently.
Scientist Clare Wynifred has zero interest in sports. She never imagined her wearable tech being used to improve a silly game, but its success with the team could get her a military contract. And she knows her a breakthrough like that could save the lives of countless soldiers… Soldiers like her bother, who was injured in the line of duty. She just has to work with this stubborn quarterback, and she’ll be one step closer to her goal.
Marcus and Clare butt heads at first, but their mutual attraction quickly heats up the field. Still, with everything on the line, will their romance have what it takes to go the distance?

The story is a blend of humor, revenge, passion, heartbreak, hope, and witty banter. As one reader put it, ‘This story had me squealing at the romantic moments and silly moments.’

Success is not to be measured by the amount of wins, but how the game is played. Clare and Marcus had a hard time figuring out in order to achieve their goals they needed each other. She had the knowledge, he had the skill combined with dedication that made them unstoppable. No More Sidelines is a different type of love story. Smart, sexy and hard to resist.
Clare wants to make a difference and help others. Her motivation is her memories of her brother and her sadness at his loss. Marcus wants to prove injury won't slow him down and despite his better judgment must rely on the one thing he despises, technology. Wired is an empathetic journey of hope and determination. Clare didn't just sit back and grieve, she devoted all her energy to give others hope in the face of adversity. That's an example of a fighter and what makes this character in my opinion a true hero.
What starts as a series of adversarial encounters leads to a cease-fire that evolves into friendship then love for Claire and Marcus in this thoughtful, compressed story about grief and moving forward from different types of loss. Their story offers an immersive sense of the volatile dynamics of competitive environments in professional sports and performance innovation.

This is book one of the Solomon Pro Athletes series and the main characters are star quarterback fr the Portand Rogues, Marcus Kingston (King), and scientist Claire Wynifred, whose wearable tech she one day hopes to have soldiers using. She has invented wearable biofeedback technology that can pick up every reaction Marcus has on the field, how his body reacts and everything he sees and does. Claire has previously tried to get her tech used by the army, but it had been only a few short months after she suffered a huge loss and her presentation froze. It is now a few years later and she has been focussed on her tech, to the detriment of any other sort of life, only having contact with her flatmate and friend Jo, who is a wickedly good coder. Together, they have made her tech as good as it could be. Whilst trying to gain another meeting with the military, she ends up being offered a job by the Portland Rogues owner, Ogdon J. Sterling III, who wants to see if her tech can be used to make his rising quarterback Colin Eggert, as good as Marcus. Could it train him to be as good? Marcus had a huge injury to the shoulder of his throwing arm and Colin is champing at the bit to get on the field and take the team to the playoffs. He is cocky and young, but doesn’t have the instincts that Marcus does, from his years of playing, plus how well he knows each player on the team and even opponents. To Marcus, football is his life and he can’t see a life without it! Claire has no interest in sports at all, the most she ever does is a bit of yoga to stretch out her sore joints form sitting in front of a computer so much. So having to work with the very reluctant Marcus and the overeager Colin, keeps her focussed on the big picture, the promised introduction to the military, which Sterling has promised her if she can prove her tech works. She wants to have soldiers, like her brother Clay, able to wear tech like hers and hopefully more of them return home safely! Sterling wants to have Eggert on the field and his stats for throws and distance certainly prove he is the better quarterback if you go by figures alone. Marcus has a fight on his hands if he is to keep his starting position and all it would take is another knock to his injured shoulder and he could be finished permanently. He has to agree to wear the tech and do as Claire asks him to, or be benched and Eggert allowed to play and show how the tech works. Claire can analyse the data produced and quickly come up tiny little actions each can do to improve their game. She can’t replace the natural instincts that Marcus has about the game, but everything else she can help with and show improvements from each. Marcus and Claire don’t exactly get along at the start, but when he sees her all dressed up at a fundraising party for the military, he can’t seem to get her out of his mind. Marcus begins to introduce her to his world, the work he does with inner city youth at his place called The Hive, but still has a past he would rather not reveal. He has worked hard to get away from where he was in the past and football has been that saving grace. Without it, he thinks he would be nothing, but he already does so much for others and would easily be able to up the reins as a coach or similar in the near future. To him, football is all about instincts and reading the field as the plays progress. Nothing can be cut and dried and analysed by a computer, but he is soon proven wrong in many ways. Claire started out not caring what the owner actually wanted from her, just wanting the end result and a military contract. Falling for Marcus was not anywhere on her playbook and comes out of left field. For the owner, her tech means saving on insurance costs for the players and less injuries. For him it’s all about the money, for Marcus it’s all about the love of the game itself! Many attempts of the two lovebirds to get more serious together are thwarted before they can get anywhere. Claire realises now, exactly what the owner wants of her and how it will affect Marcus. She really needs to tell him the truth, before he finds out from someone else, but the lore of Marcus keeps dragging her under and she doesn’t get the chance to tell him. Who will play the next game is down to the data from her tech and the owner is only interested in the numbers, not the people wearing it and their different ways of playing the game and the experience versus inexperience! Claire and Marcus finally get their act together in some steamy romantic interludes, but his final game brings all sorts of matters to the fore and reveals the truth of the owner’s focus. Even with all that gets revealed, you can guarantee a HEA ending for the two of them, as both Marcus and Claire come back together at the end. A lovely reminder of my childhood and playing American football at school, as well as a lovely romance built around joining together with using her tech and her ulterior motive and the good it could do for many. Everyone needs a Sol, Irma and even a Marcus in their lives! I look forward to the next books in the series and can’t wait to read them. I received an ARC copy of this book form BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
I loved this book! It was such an enjoyable read. I loved the characters of Claire and Marcus, they so clearly complementede ach other- it was really a joy to read. I could relate to Claire, being so studious and taking a chance. I loved the grumpiness of Marcus, reluctant to believe in technology and underneath all the grumpiness…oh my, the heart of a true hero. Star quarterback Marcus Kingston lives and breathes football… Until an injury on the field nearly ends his career. When his coaches want him to wear biofeedback technology to analyze his game, Marcus thinks the idea is ridiculous. Plus, the quirky scientist behind the project knows nothing about sports. I don't normally like sports related stories but Leslie North has put such an unusual spin on this one that I really enjoyed it. Portland Rogues star quarterback, Marcus Kingston, was back playing after a bad injury, he knew that he wasn't a hundred percent, he also knew that reserve quarterback, arrogant Colin Eggert, was waiting smugly in the wings to take his place, football was Marcus's life, he wouldn't give up without a fight. The power hungry owner of the Rogues had an agenda, did Marcus fit into this ? he had hired scientist Clare Wynifred to use biofeed technology on the team to improve their game but was that all that he wanted ? Clare had no interest in sport whatsoever, this was just a means to an end, she was hoping that the publicity from this would lead her eventual goal, the military, if she could get her technology into the field she knew that she could save lives, thus the death of her brother in action wouldn't have been in vain. After his initial temper outburst Marcus grudgingly agreed to work with Clare. Despite Marcus's focus on retaining his place on the team and Clare's guilt when she realised that there was more to Marcus that his star persona, the pair fall in love and eventually find their HEA. A lovely emotional story.

* I received this advanced copy via Hidden Gems for an honest review. Marcus and Claire had so many obstacles to overcome to get to their happily ever after. A great read for fans of a solid enemies to lovers, sports romance pull up a chair. I really appreciated the flow of the story, especially how the author painted in background info in short spurts throughout the story instead of long drawn out chapters dedicated to past events. It kept the story moving, and I didn't feel like I had missed anything in the characters lives that explained why they were who they were. I love a story where I can feel the characters fall in love, not just knowing that they were in love because they said it, and this certainly took me on the journey for each of them. I do wonder if Keane and his wife had a story that was written, if not I would love to read their story, along with Clair's friend and partner. I would kill to see who could tame that crazy lady. This is a gentle romance definitely not written for the steam, but there was one steamy scene in it that was very well done. There were a few moments were the story dragged a bit, but overall a solid read. Story: 4 out of 5 stars Spice: 2 out of 5 stars
NFL Quarterback for the Portland Rogues, Marcus Kingston thought his entire life only held meaning as long as he played football. He had been benched for several weeks due to a shoulder injury but to come back, he was going to have to work with Claire Wynifred. She was developing wearable biofeedback technology that would allow actual analysis of your body's performance so you would know where to make improvements. Marcus was not happy with the new plan, but he would have to cooperate to play. Marcus and Claire had an instant attraction that grew stronger, the longer they worked together learning more about each other. Marcus was a very deep complex individual that did not share a lot of himself with anyone. When it came down to the bare facts, he actually was a very insecure person off the field and away from football. Claire was a science nerd looking to perfect her body technology. Especially, since the loss of her beloved brother, Clay in combat, and it was believed this technology might have saved his life. Enjoy this beautifully written story that had some light hearted moments, plus several rather emotionally charged moments.

Claire was hired to do a job. She was taken readings to collect data on players. Marcus was coming off the injured reserve list. He is the quarterback of the team. Management wants him to work with Claire. Claire put all kinds of electrodes in the helmets and body to collect data. Claire is more into this. She is going for a government contract. He brother was killed while on deployment. She wants to make things easier for soldiers. Three years ago she rushed her tech and it didn’t work. She has been working on making it perfect. Marcus gave in, They started to get closer. They would kiss and it would get heated something or someone would interrupt them. They wonder if they should any further. They both have goals. Marcus livelihood is depending on what the data says. Claire finds out personal things about him. She shows him she cares about him not the the athlete or his persona. Marcus realizes he can’t be without this woman. He has to show her he wants more. Both stubborn but determined. I like their story. Makes you think is it worth it.

This was my first novel by Leslie North and the synopsis had me downloading the "read now" book. There were a few things about this book that made it hard to love it. Even though this was book one of a series, there were times in the book that made me feel like I was missing backstory for both Marcus and Claire. It wasn't enough to change the book, but it would have been helpful to know more about Clay or Sol. There were times it felt like there was a big jump between topics in a short span of time; one paragraph would be about Claire's technology, the next might be about The Hive and it would take me a minute to catch up. It disrupted the flow of my reading. The same thing happened with the relationship between Claire and Marcus, they'd were enemies and then they were fighting their attraction to each other a few pages later. I wanted more of a slow build, back and forth with them. I enjoyed the military aspect, the glimpse into Clay's service, his sacrifice and how it impacted those around him. A main character who was a women in science/tech was empowering and the things Marcus did off the field showed there are more to professional athletes that are not always broadcasted. I'm glad this was a "read now" option instead of a book I requested and I'll read book two at some point, but I'm not rushing to pick it up. . . Thank you NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Claire is a tech girl, who grieving for her brother Clay hascdedigned a programme that can measure and detect accuracy.. the figures don't lie. She has been brought in by the rogues owner Sterling to run off against his star QB. Marcus hasxsuffrred annie jury zndvgoitball is his life but testing the equipment is a big issue for him. He is warned to work with her or be benched. Eventually they warm to each other and working together helps them both become successful. Sterling has promised her that ifvshe succeeds he will introduce her to his contacts in the Pentagon. Marcus was the more understanding and more personable one despite his initial offensive attitude. There were times I hoped Claire would get shafted by Sterling or Colin, Marcus's cocky young rival. She was dishonest and dishonourable by avoiding telling Marcus of the threat hanging over them both. It works out in the end but it was Marcus who actually won overall.

Claire has developed a program where sensors can be placed on a person to help monitor sight, muscle movement, and other input for a person. She has a chance to do some experimenting on a football player. Marcus is the quarterback but has suffered some injuries and is not playing as well. He is not sure he wants to be the focus of Claire’s experiment. He wants to keep playing but is afraid Claire is going to find he isn’t able to continue. These two are working closely together and it is getting harder for them to fight the attraction they feel. Can Claire help Marcus so he can continue to play? Will she have to show that his replacement is better than he is? Will Marcus understand that Claire is doing this in hopes of getting a government contract to provide sensors for the military in hopes of saving soldiers in battle, preventing deaths of these men so they won’t die as her brother did? Can they ever find happiness?.

Marcus strongly disagree aboit using Biotech analyze to make him better athlete after injury. He think an Athlete is hardwork not technology made. Especially with scientist who dosnt know anything about Football. Claire not interested in Football, not understand why people crazy about it but her job make her getting close to football. If she succes in this project she would have her dream contract in military. With their own reason, they agree to cooperation.
Too fast, i enjoy when they are bickering but suddenly there are kiss and everything change. After that the flirt and teasing was good, they open up telling each other past, hope, dream. 2 chapter till ends the sotry build so good, i can feel Claire confused with her data, real experience in field, her first goal, her feeling. Butt the end was rush..i want more chapter about Claire research progress, about Marcus future in football, about their relationship heading where..
Good interesting story with a wonderful ending. I read this several years ago as “Wired”. Marcus, a football great is nearing the end of his specular career. Age and injuries are catching up with him. Owners & coaches want to try this new tech that tracks every nuance of the body on Marcus and he hates the idea…BUT… it’s that or he’s O-U-T of the game he lives for. Cute little geek Claire is using this football deal to fine-tune her biofeedback tech to secure a future military contract that will hopefully save soldiers on the battlefield from injury and death. She knows nothing about football or the rough-around-the-edges Marcus so it takes quite a while for them to be able to work well together. Once they learn about each other’s lives they become friends and then so much more. I received a free advanced copy of this story from Booksprout and this is my honest review. Linda
Claire is a scientist working on a wearable tech that could be used to save lives for soldiers but she has to get data on it before she can get a government contract. The only way she can get the numbers is to work with a star quarter back coming back from an injury. She’s not thrilled about working with a professional athlete, but she’s determined to get this tech to soldiers.
Marcus wants to get back to playing football but he’s coming back from an injury. In order to get back in the game he has to work with a scientist and test out some wearable tech she has created. He’s not so sure of this but knows it’s the only way to get back in the game.
This story had a bit of a slower start, slow burn type of romance. The two main characters didn’t get along at first so it even has an enemies to lovers feel as well. Overall, it is an enjoyable story with a unique storyline.

3.5 **** stars. Marcus is a professional starting quarterback coming back from a shoulder injury. Claire has a deal with the club owner to collect data on Marcus so he can transfer his moves to his backup quarterback. Her end game is to sell her program to the military to save soldiers in the field from getting killed, like her brother. His outward persona is nothing like the real man underneath. He is paying it forward in honor of the man, Sol who got him out of his bad neighborhood and trained him to play football. She sees it when he lowers his wall and lets her in. She hasn’t shared where she is on the program and that is weighing heavy on her mind because it can get him replaced. And they have to deal with the mutual attraction to each other. The book starts out slow but persevere it gets better.

Marcus Kingston is the star quarterback, and football is everything to him. Claire Winifred is a scientist with no interest in sports at all. Marcus is therefore grumpy when told he needs to wear technology invented by Claire Ito improve his game otherwise he'll be replaced.
Marcus' grumpiness is endearing and we soon learn there is more to the man than being a grouch or football but don't tell him that.
Claire is all about the science and testing her equipment and data to get to the goal of preventing unnecessary deaths amongst the armed forces, like her beloved brother.
This is a very enjoyable read, and I love the dynamic of the characters who clearly complement each other.
After developing a mutual attraction, can they succeed when there are secrets between them, especially if Claire's tech means Marcus is permanently replaced with a younger model?.

North’s Venture into Sports Romance is HOT! Leslie North’s new contemporary romance series, Solomon Pro Athletes, is quite a departure from what I have typically read from her, and I am here for it. In “No More Sidelines,” Book One of the lineup, North introduces pro quarterback Marcus Kingston, a kid from the wrong side of the tracks in Pittsburgh who hit it big in the NFL after a wonderful man named Sol (along with his wife Irma) took him and several other young men under his wing. At a crossroads in his career, Marcus meets the quirky, beautiful, and brilliant Claire, a coder who has developed technology that could revolutionize everything from professional sports to military training. The story highlights the chemistry between the unlikely pair and packs in the steam, angst, and personal growth of the individual characters. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this new series goes!
This is the 1st book in the “Solomon Pro Athletes Series”. This is the romantic journey for Marcus and Claire. Marcus is the NFL star quarter back and he sustains an almost career ending injury. Claire is a scientist and has no interest in sports. Claire has developed a program with sensors to monitor bodily movements. Marcus’s coach wants him to wear the sensor monitor. Marcus wants to continue to play football so he agrees to wear the monitor. Marcus is also afraid that with him wearing the sensor monitor Claire might find out that he is not able to continue playing the sport he so loves. Claire wants a government contract for her sensor monitor to help the soldiers in combat. The more time that these two are spending together they are growing closer and closer. The chemistry between Marcus and Claire is awesome.
Can Claire’s sensor monitor help Marcus, will Claire land the government contract for her monitor, is there an HEA in store for Claire and Marcus?
Firstly I have to say that I tend not to read sport romances very often, but there was something about this one that got my interest from the start. Claire is developing biofeedback technology to help soldiers in combat, having lost her brother on his last deployment. She is trialling it on a football team, and comes up against the team’s star quarterback, who is carrying an injury and doesn’t want to be sidelined in favour of a newer and potentially fitter newcomer. As they get to know more about each other will their initial feelings change? This book grabbed my attention from the start, there are some really descriptive paragraphs relating to seeing colour for the first time, and for those of you like me who aren’t true sports fans there is just enough for us to get to grips with. I read this book in one sitting, and thoroughly recommend it.
This is the first in a series from Leslie, about the Solomon Pro Atheletes, Sol rescued boys from the streets and trouble, got them involved with his gym and tried to turn their lives around. Marcus ended up playing football, he's a quarterback but has injured his shoulder, there's a young up and coming player in the wings. Claire's brother was killed abroad in the forces, and she's trying to get her technology shown to the relevant people, she's started with Marcus' football team, but he's very resistent to her aims, and doesn't like everything he does monitored. Claire now has a secret, the team owner has unscrupulous reasons for her technology, she's now seeing Marcus in a different light and wants to help him, but will that damage her career?

Marcus Kingston is a quarterback for a winning football team, but he’s getting older and the owners are starting to look at the younger backup quarterback, especially after Marcus is injured. Football has been such a central part of Marcus’ life that he’s angry and scared of losing it. Claire is a scientist who is working on tech that she believes could help soldiers in war zones, but first she has to get some real world data, and she is hired by management of the football team. Marcus and Claire butt heads initially because they are both so focused only on their point of view, but as they spend time together, sparks start flying. Plenty of sexual tension and super sweet when they finally get steamy. Fun read!.

What comes next when lead by the heart No More Sidelines (Solomon Pro Athletes Book 1) by Leslie North is a compelling emotional read that appealed to me in a variety of ways. Yummy, grumpy, emotionally damaged athlete with a heart of gold: check. A smart, beautiful woman on a special mission: check. Antagonistic workplace romance: check. Hearts overruling the head: check. There’s a lot going on from beginning to end. As Marcus and Claire meet, sparks fly, but both are gun shy and resist their attraction. As they learn about each other, the pull becomes too great, crashing walls and encouraging them to take the risk with their hearts. Overall, the risk pays off and life after football isn’t so devastating a prospect for Marcus. For Claire, Marcus helped her take action rather than standing still on the sidelines toward her goal. This HEA is a promising and fulfilling future.
This story was fantastic! A sister still grieving and putting her all into technology to protect soldiers like her brother. A professional athlete who thinks he is only a football player and has no life after football. She makes him see that he is already so much more to the people around him. He shows her that their is more in her life, and to the problems she wants for fix, than data points on a spreadsheet. They are both wonderful characters, helping those around them, and together they are an amazing force to help everyone possible. I loved the story and am excited to see what other characters we’ll meet in this series of athletes helped as children by one man and his wife.
*I am leaving an honest and voluntary review after receiving this book as an ARC.
This is book 1 in North's new series Solomon Pro Athletes. This is Marcus Kingston and Clare Wynifred's story. Marcus lives and breathes football, but an injury puts all that he lives and loves in jeopardy. Clare is a scientist and has not time for sports but is forced to play nice in hopes of getting her tech a military contact. That will only happen if things go well - for both Marcus and Clare. While these two bump heads initially they also have a mutual chemistry that can't be denied as well as a mutual benefit if this arrangement goes well. Is this the beginning of their HEA or the end of all their dreams?

I absolutely loved No More Sidelines: Book 1 of Solomon Pro Athletes. This book was amazing. I had so many emotions reading this book and I just loved these characters. Marcus is fighting against Claire’s technology but once he gets to know her on a more personal level he begins to fall for her. Claire wasn’t taking into consideration the emotions of football but Marcus helps bring a whole,e new level to her technology. Together they can take on the world but first they have to overcome some personal tragedies and realize they are stronger together than apart. I would definitely recommend this book and I cannot wait for more books in the series.

Marcus has played quarterback for his adult years and has not come back after a shoulder injury. Claire has developed a program that can help soldiers in battle. To get her program seen she has to a test on a football team. Marcus is not happy to work with Marcus, but Colin has no problem working with her and wants to take over for Marcus as head quarterback. Claire designs this program after her brother Clay was killed before coming home from battle oversea. Can they work for the good of each other and come together. Claire is not happy that she must put the two against each other. She has not told Marcus how she got the job and what is at stake. Can love win in the end or not.

Marcus Kingston & Claire Wynifred are on opposing ends of technology. As a quarterback, Marcus is focused on his craft, his skills, his instincts, and his inherent knowledge of football plays and players. Claire is a technology expert at heart determined to use her tools and programs to save military lives. But she needs the football team owners assistance to regain a military audience with her equipment, technology, and real time data.
For me, this story started out slow, there was a lot of data to absorb… but once Marcus opened up to Claire and she did the same the pace picked up and drew me in…waiting for the ending.
There is a happy ending for both the couple and Claire’s potential life saving military technology.
You'll love Claire and Marcus's story. They're opposites in every way and you know what they say about opposites. She's a quirky scientist who has developed some life changing wearable technology. When she designed it she thought it would save the lives of soldiers. She wasn't thrilled about it being used for football but that is her avenue toward a possible military contract. She and Marcus are like oil and water but the chemistry is definitely there. A great book that is hard to put down. The characters are actually perfect for each other. Leslie North did a wonderful job with the character development and story line. A great read that I read as an advance copy via Bad Boy Updates and voluntarily chose to review it.
Claire develops technology that is used to monitor NFL players for now, but her dream is that it could be useful for soldiers. She has lost her deployed brother and it's her way of coping wth his death. In the football team she's working with now, the quarterback Marcus is trying to deal with a shoulder injury and Claire's data is being used to settle whether the team should be using Marcus or a younger player. Marcus and Claire grow closer but Claire has a conflict of interest. This was a short read that grew more interesting towards the end. Some sexual content. It is written in the third person perspective.
