Kerry J. Donovan

#1 bestselling author with the US-based Lucky Shores romantic suspense series and the Ryan Kaine military action thrillers, and creator of the popular DCI Jones Casebook series of police procedurals, Kerry J Donovan was born in Dublin, before spending many formative years in West Wales.

Kerry earned a first-class honours degree in Human Biology and a PhD in Sport and Exercise Sciences. A former scientific advisor to The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, he helped UK emergency first-responders prepare for chemical and biological attacks in the wake of the 9/11 atrocities. This background adds a keen scientific edge to Kerry’s writing.

Kerry’s life experiences help him add an extra layer of realism to his stories and his characters. For example, readers will discover the water-borne adventures of his action hero, Ryan Kaine, a former member of the Royal Navy’s Special Boat Services, as authentic and exciting as a night-time dip in the Bay of Biscay.

As the owner of a “pristine” Honda NC750X, you’ll often find him touring the less well-known regions of Europe in search of interesting locations for his novels. A life-long sports enthusiast and open-water swimmer, the moment Kerry catches a glimpse of the ocean, it’s off with the bike leathers and on with his wetsuit.

A citizen of the world, Kerry recently returned from spending two decades living in the heart of rural Brittany and now lives with Margaret in a recently renovated bungalow in Nottinghamshire, UK.

When not writing, Kerry enjoys riding his motorbike, jogging, swimming, spending time with his four wonderful grandchildren, and travelling the world.

After eighteen months of reading autobiographies, nice to get back to my favourite genre, action thriller.

Kerry nice to catch up with Ryan Kaine, again. finished this book, next book "On The Brink"

Ryan Kaine is On the Lookout…

The net is closing.

In an age of facial recognition and constant electronic surveillance, Kaine is struggling to keep a step ahead of the world’s security agencies.

When a child, orphaned by flight BE1555, needs The 83 Trust’s help, Kaine has to find a way.

In deepest Wales, he and his team are the only people between a gang of violent thieves and the boy’s new family.

But while Kaine looks out for the boy, who’s looking out for him?..... Good Question

So good to catch up and enjoy a good action thriller, and also one of my favourite characters.

Staying under the radar, especially when returning to Wales, UK, keeping ahead of the authorities.

Ryan picks up right after leaving the USA, and Lara and Rollo meet him in Wales , of all places .
Ryan and company are tasked with helping an orphan whose mother was on the ill fated flight 83 , and Ryan puts his considerable skills to work under the amazing back drop of the beautifully descriptive country side of Wales, and a lovely farm.

Well paced, strong characters, slightly different from previous foes. Some great twists.

start at the beginning

If you want a good rollicking read start at book one and work through the whole series. The characters are well drawn and plot lines brilliant.
I’ve loved every one.

An intriguing story

This story was a bit different from what Ryan and his friends usually deal with while taking care of the families through the Trust of the 83. It was also more difficult for Ryan as this was the first time they've had to deal with a child. There were many more "firsts" in this story, it being unique in it's own way. However, they did what they always do, and helped out however they could, or were allowed to. It's certainly not a story to be missed.
Although most of the books in this series can be read as stand alone novels, I would highly recommend that you read from the beginning. It will give you a better understanding of the characters, the reasoning behind what they do and the choices they've made, and the overall dynamics of the plot. They are all fantastic stories, and you certainly won't be disappointed.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

What an absolute Treat !!!

I have enjoyed this series despite the over the top racism and derogatory comments. This book was a refreshing change from the clientele that our Ryan Kaine usually comes into contact with !!!!
In this book , Ryan picks up right after leaving the USA, and Lara and Rollo meet him in Wales , of all places .
Ryan and company are tasked with helping an orphan whose mother was on the ill fated flight 83 , and Ryan puts his considerable skills to work under the amazing back drop of the beautifully descriptive country side of Wales. Yes, there were people doing very bad things, and Ryan and his band of merry men - and woman- have to help them see the error of their ways.
Another very exciting , and gripping story of Ryan Kaine and the 83 trust . Already looking forward to the next !!!

Back to The 83.

Having arrived back in the UK on a private jet, Ryan is called to Wales where another of The 83 indirectly needs his help. As usual nothing is straightforward even more so when Lara is giving him the cold shoulder from his last escapade.
The action is fast and furious in the rolling hills of deepest Wales. Not only is Ryan sorting out this problem but he is also being hunted by two killers as it has been decided within Government that Ryan needs to disappear. Fabulous novel!

Orders to eliminate

Ryan is in the dog house with Lara after leaving her in Paris, she was still very frosted when Ryan returned from his rescue mission. Whilst in flight he was told about another assignment, he was looking forward to at least a little rest but that now had to wait yet again. Another excellent story,.
Ryan now discovered he was being hunted as he now had a grey notice on him that appears to be official.

Usual good standard

Maybe it's because I'm 'getting on a bit so old school ' I like reading books where it doesn't matter that you know the good guys going to win. It's the plots throughout the book that makes it so easy to read, as have all it's predecessors. Compassion and violence in equal measures.

Another excellent plot line. Love the way Kerry developed the characters. I feel like I’m meeting them. Only thing I’m disappointed in is knowing I have to wait for the next in the series. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great series to grab book 1 and read in order. Got my wife stated reading!

It just keeps getting better

I thought by book 5 or 6 it would get stale. Not at all! Twists and turns I wasn’t expecting and great character development. I’m glad that I started reading this series after there were already 9 books out - so I could just keep watching Ryan Kaine develop. Where’s #11??

It’s rare that a book this far into a fairly long series is as good as the first. This is one of those rare exceptions. There’s lots of action, plenty of good people to root for and a couple pretty scary villains. Also a great plot twist at the end that I did NOT see coming. You can’t go wrong with this series if you like action and suspense.

I just can't believe.

I just can't believe how good this series of books are. Each have entertaining, and exciting. Mr. Donovan must bee a man of many talents. His descriptions of physical combat are outstanding. I'm enjoying the series of books and look forward to each one. Wish they would never end.

Reading this series is always relaxing and exciting for me. The stories are good, a bit wordy, but good. I like the characters in the book and I can not wait for the next installment of Kaine and his crew.

Another Kerry Cracker

I can't believe I've read all 10 in bit of a binge fest I'm really hoping for No11. Fast paced series with a thoroughly likeable hero with the added bonus of recognising plenty of the areas the plots take place.

Bit of a disappointment really

Too verbose and details of aspects not related to plot lines. Wonderful as sheep farmers are, that’s not the reason to read this series…….Disappointing :-(

Awesome storyline

I thoroughly enjoy reading this series. Ryan Kaine is the absolute man and anyone that stands in the way is best to be cut off. Readers take the time to read because you will be on the edge of your seat each time.

The way Kerry Donovan tells a story, the reader is totally drawn in. This latest installment was excellent. The twists and turns were surprising and well played. I look forward to the next installment.

worth the read

My only hold out for a better rating is the “green agenda” references. Request to the author “Please don’t push any agenda on me, I’m reading for the entertainment, not political agendas”

Another great book in this series, we yet another very different story line.

So many series stick to similar threads for their story lines, but Kerry does a great job in coming up with totally different story lines, well done.

Another winner from Donovan.

Kerry J Donovan writes books that flow. Easy reading with characters that come alive. This is my tenth in the series and have yet to be disappointed. If you are new to the series, start at book one and you will be hooked.

Rhod Rescued

This suspenseful tale was a bit slower and not as tense as some of the other books. The plot still had twists and turns but not as much rough language. Rhod, a 12 year old boy, needs help from the 83 Trust. Kaine comes to the rescue, but it's not easy!!

Totally unbelievable tosh

More holes in the plot than a Swiss cheese!

Writer should be ashamed to be compared to Lee Child or Andy McNab.
