Another good one by David B Lyons. I like the way he concluded this trilogy. I think the reflection on America and media is harsh but probably accurate. Overall it’s not my favorite of his books but still absolutely recommend each of his trilogies, this one included.
Disturbing look into the future of the media and how technology could/will affect us and our relationships. The final book in the trilogy. Really enjoyed all three books. Highly recommend all of the authors books.
An amazing ending to the America.trilogy with a storyline that started in 1997 and ended well into the future (can't remember exactly now but ca 2050). The media (and in this book, also AI and social media) plays the main role all throughout the series and brings up several relevant and interesting questions. I particularly enjoyed how actual true events and people were written into this fictional story. I also enjoyed the intertwining storylines and multiple POVs - so well put together. This is dark and a bit creepy, exactly because it's also so realistic and believable. While being serious and thrilling, there's also some humor spread throughout, usually through characters thoughts or dialogue, which makes the book even more enjoyable to read.
In this third and last book ADHD and other versions of Alzheimer's are described as two of the many growing diseases/diagnosis that are assumed to be directly caused by excessive social media use. It gets so bad that the president and the three Z's (the three biggest/most powerful media people/companies) meet to discuss passing a new law/act for limiting people's use of social media. This suggestion is, of course, met with a lot of split opinions and possibly deadly consequences
I was left gobsmacked at the end of this book. The whole trilogy has been an amazing unputdownable read! I wasn't sure I would get into this final part, due to the subject of technology. How wrong was I? The subject matter was scary to a point, the characters and their individual stories were great. I tried to work out how it /they were all related, but no, David did it again with a mindblowing conclusion. Brilliant read!
The book was good yet I think I would've enjoyed it more if I hadn't felt like I've read this book twice before. If follows the same pattern as the first two books of this trilogy and so you see it coming. I properly anticipated when the plot twists would happen, who would die, and who perpetrated the most shocking murder. You might like this book a lot more as a standalone than if you've already read the first two.
If you have never read anything from this author, then you are really missing out. Each book is thought provoking and has you thinking about life as we live it today. Kudos to David B. Lyons you have hit another home run.
I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy and David saved the best for last. A scary prediction for the future that is not too difficult to imagine! A book full of twists as we have come to expect!!
This trilogy is fiction yet uncomfortably based on truth or the possible predictions on how the monopolies of the media can affect or control our world. I read all 3 books in 3 days. I could not stop reading!
Not sure I look led the author's style much - a lot of repetition - but it was uninteresting and somewhat scary look at media and technology and probably not that far from the truth
I enjoyed book 1 and 2. So, I sat down with 3 expecting a nice escape. Whoa, I feel I must have missed about half a dozen between 2 and 3. I dragged my way thru 3, not a fan of science fiction, I wish I had stopped at 2.
Third in the America trilogy, book is cleverly set in 2047, where society has become subsumed in social media, media monopoly and AI.
Book explores the relationship between Jane Zdanski, the president, and the owners of the two most powerful tech companies as they come to terms with America they have co-created, and the morale decision to hrlp undo it and the cost of lost revenue and wealth
Creates some interesting and disturbing scenarios of where we could be in a relatively short window of time.
Great plot following the manipulation of four characters, a teacher, bad boy loner, Eastern European assassin and love lorn elderly businessman. All oblivious to their part in a chain reaction of paid deeds from the dark web, each one covering the tracks of another, until the protagonist and puppet master is finally revealed in a final plot twist....
