Aaron Carter: An Incomplete Story of an Incomplete Life

Rate this book
Aaron’s Carter’s story, in Aaron Carter’s words.

Aaron was working on a book about his life before his death. He never had a chance to finish it. This is what was completed.

All Aaron Carter knew was fame. He released his first album at the age of nine and was a 3x platinum artist selling out stadiums before reaching his teenage years. Close friend and mentor Michael Jackson confided in him that he believed Aaron was the King of Pop's heir apparent. His brother was in the biggest boy band in the world. Aaron Carter's destiny was of stardom; and unfortunately, tragedy, with his life ending on Nov. 5, 2022.

Aaron spent three years off and on working with writer Andy Symonds on his book. In it, Aaron tells about the night he spent at Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch, awakening in the middle of the night to find Michael crouched on the end of his bed. He talks about his relationship with his family, how his parents stole his money, and what it was like growing up in the shadow of Nick and the Backstreet Boys. He details performing with Michael Jackson at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 10, 2001, and being on his way to the airport to board Michael's private jet when he watched the first plane hit the World Trade Center.

Aaron is honest, funny, irreverent and self-aware with amazing recall about the stories that shaped a childhood star into a troubled, but talented adult. This book is not completed, but never will be. In its final version as published, notes are left in the manuscript by the writer and publisher so the reader can see the focus and direction where Aaron and the writer were going.

Even though the book wasn’t finished it was worth the read. I devoured it. Broke me heart reading all the trauma he endured. Some of the stuff he said brought me back to my teenage years and my own experiences meeting the Carter family. Aaron was such a sweet man who would do anything to put a smile on someone’s face. Sad to know he was suffering in silence for so long. I hope he’s found peace . I recommend reading this if you’re an Aaron fan. R.I.P Aaron

I was an Aaron Carter mega fan for a big part of my life. I read all the 90’s unauthorized books and Jane Carter’s book about him when I was a tween myself. I know a lot about Aaron and his life, from following his whole career from the start, but I still loved this book and found a good amount of things in it that I found interesting and didn’t already know. I wish so much it could have gotten finished. It’s a short, and obviously incomplete book, but I’m glad to have read it.

This is a very short book, so it makes sense that the story felt more like an overview of Carter's life.

I do understand that the author and Carter were working on this book (when Carter wanted to) and that there is a lot missing.

I am not a fan of his and I have never heard any of this songs, but the addiction aspect drew me to the book. Anytime I read or hear anything about Carter, its tainted with his addiction. Unfortunately, there is one short chapter on his addiction, which does not really go into any details. Although, weed smoking is often mentioned,

What horrendous parents the Carter boys had. His story reminds me of Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. How sad that there is something about the entertainment industry that seems to draw out all of the shitty "parents". What chance did Carter really have? considering the parents he was dealt.

Its hard to review a book that is basically bit and pieces of a story, but I chose to give this 4 stars because the parts that were there were interesting.

I hope Aaron has finally found some peace.

I would love to read this book but sadly can't buy it here anywhere in the UK. If anyone out the kindness of their hearts would sell me and send me their one I'd happily pay full price for it and the postage for it and would really really appreciate it

Incredibly sad story about someone who held so much potential. This book reads more like someone else’s overview and very jagged interactions with Aaron and very much feels “unfinished” but given the nature of his situation I guess it’s fitting.

I loved Aaron Carter as a kid. Had a huge crush on him and his brother Nick. This book is exactly what I expected, incomplete. It was a must-have for me, and I’m happy I own it and read it.
