Makena’s life had never been a fairytale. She never truly understood what happiness looked like but the universe had a bigger plan. After suffering through one too many heartaches and giving up hope her knight in shinning armor finally appeared.
Benji has had more lows than highs but he managed to keep a level head which allowed him to find balance. Benji also learned it was best to keep people at arms length because he refused to suffer any more major losses.
Two people with broken hearts can become whole, but only when they’re willing to allow fate to be their guide.

Benjamin and Makena were each other’s peace. They just don’t know it. When these two meet, they have no idea how much they have in common. Benji grew up with a drug addicted mama who was more concerned with getting her next fix than making sure her young son was clothed and fed. Makena’s mama was bitter that her married baby daddy refused to leave his wife so, she took her anger out on poor Makena and treated her like a red headed stepchild damn near her entire life. When Mary betrays Makena then, doubles down on the betrayal and kicks her out, Benji pays it forward by opening his home and offering Makena a place to stay. He wants to be a safe haven for her like Bleu and Regina were for him during his time of need. What he didn’t anticipate was falling in love. How can you love someone when no one has taught you how to love? But, Benji doesn't give himself enough credit. His actions, his words, and the way he protected Makena showed her he knew how to love just fine. Whenever Love Finds You was an unexpected gem. The guarded loan shark and the shy fashion designer were an unlikely pair but, they were absolutely perfect for each other.
“My favorite pair of eyes to look into, my favorite name to pop up on my phone, my favorite way to spend my day, my favorite every-f—thing.”
Whew, Benji is bae!🤤❤️
Wherever Love Finds You has made its way into my favorite book penned by T’Lyn. The way that I devoured this story so quickly was not even funny. I literally could not get enough of it.
Makena was down on her luck something serious, working to take care of her mama’s household and saving for fashion school- I admired her hustle and heart. The first time Benji came through for Makena was when she was walking home from work in the pouring rain. His actions were everything, he could have easily looked down on her but he did not. He was big on putting Makena first and I respected that. However, when Makena passed out in his bank I could totally picture that whole scene playing out lol!
What I liked was T’Lyn didn’t write Makena’s character as some damsel in distress- while she did accept the handouts, she had goals and wanted to work. I loved that!
Benji is really guarded and doesn’t allow people in but there’s something about Makena that does it for him! He tried to push those feelings away but everyone knew that she was it for him! I loved his actions, his words, the way that he was a protector and a provider. He really could do no wrong, as far as I am concerned.
Now there was just enough drama to balance the romance brewing between Makena and Benji. The flow of the story was great. I loved Mo, Tori, and Tron and what they contributed to the story. This book was *chefs kiss*
It ain’t trickin if you got it!! And y’all Benjamin had it!! The full package!! And despite seemingly having it all, he was still a broken man inside thanks to the trauma endured at the hands of his female donor. Thankfully the life of crime he led at the tender age of 9 to make ends meet landed him into the loving home of parents willing to nurture him. Now as a successful adult he’s on the right track, but those demons stayed fighting against him!
Makena lived an equally traumatic life at the hands of her female donor as well but unlike Benji, she’s still in the thick of it with seemingly no relief in sight. After yet another disastrous event at the hand of her mother left her with nothing, her angel in the form of a BDE boss literally swept her off her feet and restored light to her dark world.
Benji knew from day one that Makena was different and he was drawn to her like a moth to a flame. Whatever she needed he provided with no question. I mean came through in a major way and I loved that for her!
Raylin, Dedra and Jason were like bad rashes that would not go away! Like can a physician prescribe a cream already because what is we doing!! Those two b*tches wore me out!!!
One thing that had me side eyeing this story was Monique and her husband being well off and not doing more to help her sister better her situation. I get that Makena was grown but Mo knew how their mother treated her and it didn’t seem like she did more to help until after Benji stepped in. 😒 I would have also loved to read about Makena’s fashion success on page. We read about the many wins Benji had but not her. I would’ve loved to see what happened when she designed Tori’s party dress and more hype around that because it was part of Makena’s story and she was just as much an important character as Benji. Maybe a few less scenes with the double mint twins and more about Makena’s rise to success would’ve added an extra layer to the story.
All in all this was a really good story! ✅ Recommend!
When dysfunctional families create loving people. Makena has a heart of gold and Benji is more stone like. but it all get better. Lots of secrets and deadbeat mothers. Nice pace to the story and entertaining.
I love me some Beni😎 was ruthless and Underneath that hard exterior was someone who simply needed to be love and allow himself to love them back. I wasn’t to sure I how things were going to work for he and Makena the lived inn two totally different worlds. Their first encounter seemed uneventful. But the night she missed the bus and it was raining I was like oh boy here we go ❤️❤️.
There relationship encountered a lot of twist and turns, some of which were predictable, but so many were not.
All I will say is Good read , if I say more there will be way to many spoilers 😂😂
Benji gave me sooo much with his dealings with Dedra and Raylin😂. I can’t believe they settled for this disrespectful scraps!!! Oh well, I didn’t like either of them🤦🏽♀️
Makena was soooo good for and to Benji. He gave her the much deserved break that she needed. Both of their bio moms were 🗑 trash. I am so glad Benji got it together because Makena may have been inexperienced but she did not play!!!!
I loved 🥰 all the characters especially Monique’s fiery self. The plot was great!! I read it in 1 day👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Grab it, you won’t be disappointed.
This was my intro to T’Lyn’s writing…and I’M NEVER LEAVING!!!
I loved every bit of this. Bento is a MAN! He looked after everyone in his circle and was about his business! My girl Makena was so strong and deserved love and a fighting chance! I’m so glad she found more family and is being loved on! Im excited to get into T’Lyn’s backlog and find more book boyfriends!
I freaking loved this man so you hear me! I completely understood why he was the way he was! You couldn’t blame him! Her momma wasn’t ish either! I think that’s why they were perfect for each other. That plot twist was bananas
Malena to have grown up like she did was very immature, green and had no survival skills whatsoever, she was a whiny pushover. She was 23 living with her Mother taking care of all the bills basically, her Mother treated her lower than dirt but she CHOSE to stay and take the abuse instead of being an adult and moving into her own place. Her sister Monique been left, got a well to do husband and is a stay at home wife, always uplifting her sister with words but take her to some fancy party while she's dressed to the 9's in designer her sister had on a Walmart fit that she hooked up herself and busted old sneakers. Like you begged her to go and couldn't at least help her get an outfit or at least some shoes but got rolls of expensive fabric in the back seat, what is she gonna do with just the fabric without the other needed stuff to make clothes???? Couldn't offer her a place to stay, or offer to help her get her own place, you see she was willing to pay her bills, make it make sense! Tori did more the day that they met than her sister did. Benji was a tortured soul who was also beyond annoying, he couldn't understand his blessings for the life of him. Honestly, everybody dropped the ball and let him have his way and throw temper tantrums when he needed a psychiatrist to help him through the childhood trauma, his grandparents were trash, sorry, y'all knew about him since he was seven, was a part of his life as an adult yet never said you were his grandparents, never went to Bleu and his wife about who you were to him?? Instead granny works at his bank and is always bringing him food smh. The whole Deana and Raylin mess was over the top ridiculous and he could have been nipped that in the bud, they were beyond obsessed though one he never even had sex with and the other didn't know anything about him besides sex. I got so tired of hearing him repeat himself to them about how much he didn't care about them and them still begging, crying and making fools of themselves just for him to repeat himself. All he did was threaten them constantly, he should have been and fired Deana and checked Antrez everytime his wife and delusional sister came at his girl, should have had Raylin jumped or something. I take it he inwardly like the drama. This story had potential but seriously dropped the ball, this could have been a cautionary tale of childhood trauma due to parents addiction or own trauma, a story of how to learn, cope, communicate, not letting the past hinder your present or future. Love, redemption, doing better because of knowing better. I felt bad for Benji but nothing excuses his disrespect and constant running and giving people his ass to kiss when he had a whole village of people that loved him, he was successful because of them, he just wanted to live in wow is me, I didn't like him as a person.
Book dragged! Makena was annoying and naive! Clips said she had street smarts lol I’m like where??? Not giving an obvious cluck 300$ lol I’m like I need to go say I need medicine too lol and she irritated me with her mama! THEN, why he let Dedra and Raylin steady play in her faceeee! Why wasn’t she FIRED ALREADYYYY Like how many times???? His too stupid goofy okay I’m done.
To say Makena had it hard was an understatement poor girl was dealing with so much but taking it all in stride. She deserved everything good that happened to her. I’m so glad she and Benji crossed paths. He saw something in her that drew him to her and they created a beautiful love story. Everything they didn’t know they needed they found it in each other, love.
Both of their moms were trashy asf. Tracy was fighting her demons and the demons were winning she had to want to win for herself and she clearly didn’t. It was the audacity of Makena’s mom for me.
Raylin and Dedra got on my last nerves obsessing over a man who repeatedly told them the truth about where they stood. They couldn’t believe little Ms Makena came in and did something they couldn’t do, capture his heart.
I loved the bond between Mo and Makena and Makena and Tori as well. Please tell me Tori and Tron are up next 🤞🏾
This is an amazing read, I promise you will not be disappointed because one thing about T’Lyn she gone drop some 🔥 and I’m here for it every time 👏🏾
This was very good. Makena was such a wonderful character. Genuine, selfless, giving and all around a beautiful person and a delight a heroine. Benji was BAE all over with a lot of swag and gangster hood. What was refreshing was that for once, we were able to read about hood gangster without being a kingpin. He was actually borderline legit and illegal at the same time (but more legit than not) and so the law was really not or could not get that much involved. Raylin, Dedra, Jason were so pathetic and I was truly hoping that karma was going to visit them; Tracy and Mary were the devil reincarnated but Blu and Regina were the best. Monique, Tori, Tron and even Dawson were the best. That Ms. Grace could have gone back under the rock that she came from because, this was just too “suddenly I have people for me”. Benji was just too nice!! In any case, a wonderful read….
This was an emotional roller-coaster... we really need to normalize hurt men more... Benji was a broken book bae who needed more than a hug... and the love a care that was being poured into him he didn't feel until Makena. She was damaged but strong and absolutely loved MO! This was a good moment to stop and understand that the most successful people can be so damaged...well written although the air conditioner flop made me laugh...
ANOTHER ONE! I’m faithfully going to read anything T’Lyn drops. I absolutely love her work. But Benji was so smooth. I just loved him and was glad he found Makena because Benji needed some love. This story hit home for me in a lot of places and I loved that even more to read about something that made even more sense to me. If I could give 100 stars i Surely would!
T'Lyn is getting better with each book she puts out. Benji and Makena has made it to my top 5 lol. Benji had a wall so high it seemed like nobody would get through. Makena came around and not only knocked those walls down, but she stole his heart as well! You couldn't help but fall in love with them.
This book was good from beginning to the end. Both Makena and Benji endured pain from one of their closest love ones. It was almost fate that they were put together. And I’m glad that they was able to move on no matter the circumstances and find happiness with each other.
I loved this book first time reading your work and I must say these characters are everything especially Makena and Benji he is bae and is now in my top five book baes. I loved their relationship even his slides because they could of been worse and I’m glad they weren’t lol .
This was my first read from the author and will NOT be my last. Makena was such a great loving person, always looking out for those who cared nothing about her. Benji was crazy and looking for the right one to pour love into. I really liked his character. Their love story was awesome. Definitely a must read! On to the next one.
Benjamin and Makena definitely deserved the love each other wanted to give. Their mothers wasn’t hitting on anything, but they both made it out. I guess you can at least say Benji’s mom chose her addiction over him. Makena’s mom was just aweful. It was a really good read with a little bit of drama.
I love Benji and Makena story. The mama's are something else, especially Makena mom. I loved the relationships in this book. You don't have to be blood to be family. Well done T'lyn
A very good read. When Makena didn't have a thing Benji was placed at the right time to be her hero. They had a wall built up so high. I just loved how Benji loved on Makena. Good job T'lyn.
This story made me shed some tears, because being an educator you see the children that is longing for somebody to care for them or just to show some compassion. Overall I really did enjoy the book and I would recommend it to everyone that asks.
How could you not love him. He was so broken but had such a great loving heart. Aside from the hit here and there this was a good book. Makena was such a beautiful souland karma did her good. She was rewarded for.her goodness. Great story line. Good characters. Well worth reading.
Benjamin and Makena were each others peace…Benji only shared his feelings with his family and close friend Tron. He had women he used for his basic needs but never companionship but both Debra and Raylin thought they could change him by always being available but never got the chance to know him now Makena was naïve relationships but she gotten to know Benji and showed the she was for him and she wanted more than his money and status…now each of them had momma issues Makena mom was a selfish entitled leach who used and mentally abused her daughters and Benjis mom was a Junkie who loved the his more than him he lost his sister because of her…..the secondary characters were awesome I hope tron and tori get their own story this was a great read a little fast and would have liked some more details on a few things but still a great read
This story Omg was so freaking beautiful I love Benji character and Makena was the perfect match for him the way their characters meshed with each other made me fall in love with them.I was really rooting for them.Great job bringing them to life.Amazing read.
