Wooooooooah. WEIRD romance just almost transpired and I hated it 😵‍💫😂 So much so I need a break from the series lol and it didn’t even end up happening 😂 Cringe cringe cringe, no thank youuuuuu. I didn’t find out any more about the big story line either so I’m annoyed and also why I’m done with the series for now.

Pretty much out of the blue Calloway has separated from his wife and wants to marry Harley. She tells him No, doesn’t want to ruin their work partnership.

I really wish the author had not gone in this direction with them. I have one more Audible bought in the series, but my enthusiasm is gone.

As to the killer on the oil rigs, unless I missed something (which is possible), neither the cops or the FBI crossed paths with him in their investigations. Harley had a life and death fight with him in the last where she was being strangled by the killer in a tank of contaminated oil. Calloway saved her.

According to the killer, the oil company bilked his parents out of their valuable land, then ruined the land by drilling for oil.

Harley steals a laptop from the biker bar and old emails from the days before her sister disappeared sound like she was drugged and abducted for sex trafficking. So that’s the newest clue to chase in her quest to find her sister… or find out what happened to her sister. I wonder if I will ever know the answer to that.

Harley and Callaway are having a hard time identifying who is behind the killings at the oil drilling plants as the owner has instructed the employees to only speak with the FBI in the presence of a Union Representative. In pursuing the culprit Harley finds great difficulties that could cost her life if she is not careful. Her relationship with Callaway is also taking space in her mind and might represent trouble in the future. On the personal side, she continues to search for people involved in the disappearance of her sister and the action she takes may place her in hot water. Enjoyable reading. I thank the author for the ARC.
