Goodreads lists this as the Hardcover but the copy I own is the paperback release. This book answers the questions: who, what, when, where. This is my 8th grade history textbook without any pictures and my reason for not being in love with History. To quote Sgt. Joe Friday of Dragnet (1960's TV show) "Just the facts, ma'am." I did watch the Vikings TV show about Ragnar Lothbrok and thought this book would add more details to the TV show but it is a disappointing nightmare. It fails to answer the questions of which, what kind of, and why, among others. It would also benefit from maps of the areas and time periods discussed. I will pass it on to another reader, but I will not recommend it.
