Could not stop reading! This was SO good. If you have triggers, please be in mind that there's abuse and r*pe involved. But the main character, Melanie is tough, a bada$$ and gets her revenge. This book was well written, and is keeps you asking "what the hell could happen next" at least for me it did.
This book is a weird one. It’s dark but I’ve read dark before. When reading this book I thought I was reading a book about a bad bitch type heroine. Like tough as nails. She says sh is I mean she works in security. Yet all Melanie ever done is cry like baby . I know bad shit happen to her. But she’s acting like a civilian not a well trained individual who works in high end security. That deal with bad people, stop heist. So you get the impression that she knows how to fight. Yet when it comes situation we’re you would expect her to get herself out of the situation. She needs other people to help because all she does cry like she’s a spoiled rich heiress.
The only thing I did understood was Marcas raping her he was high on drugs . Because some mob guys spiked him with different types of drugs. So I understand how she couldn’t save herself then. But I’m supposed to believe that Mel get these violent blackout. Yet Bo, Liam , John were able to do horrible bad shit to her. Yet she loved Bo, that’s another thing I don’t see the chemistry or love?
Unfortunately I think the author should of read Dirty Angels and Dirty Promises . Because Karina Halle did a great job she took a civilian who went through horrible, vile, tough shit and made herself a bad bitch. That wasn’t just her repeatedly saying I’m tough. Saying it doesn’t make you one .
She also liked guys with red flags and the guys weren’t even hiding it. They made it obvious yet she’s blind. Apart from Marcus but we don’t know what there relationship was like?
I tried liking it but sorry I just can’t especially when I’ve read so many great books with heroines that show with actions why there tough. Captive in the Dark ,DeliverSnuff the list goes on but unfortunately this wasn’t it .

This book started off really great and well written, then I got about a third of the way in and it got pretty confusing. There were a few times where I flipped back a few pages to see if I missed something. I’m going to be honest, at 44%, I looked over at my boyfriend and told him I wanted to quit. He told me I shouldn’t, so here we are. I read a lot of romance novels, so multiple love interests are cool with me, but I found these ones tough to swallow. I guess there are definitely humans who fall quick and hard, but I never really felt the connection between Mel and any of the men. It was especially hard, considering every relationship was forced upon her. I will say, the last third got better, and the loose ends were tied up.
I had two main responses to this story. What the hell? And why in the the hell?
First off there needs to be a trigger warning. This let's the reader, prepare for the roller coaster that is about to take them for a crazy ride. (not a negative)
This story has many Sides and factions that kept me reading. Mainly, my because I wanted to know why the things keep happening to the main character.
It ties very well in the end. I feel more needs to be developed in the main characters background, so this story is about secrets, next one hopefully bring out more background and truths of the characters.
Well done for a first story, I look forward to seeing where this story and Author goes.
This was so bad.. I couldn’t finish it. I don’t think I’ve ever not finished a book I started but this one I just couldn’t keep reading. I’m not sure how it got such good reviews; I read it to my husband to see if it was just me but he agreed. I kept thinking I was missing pages because stuff was not making sense.. a lot bothered me but mostly it was just poorly written.
The story kept me interested. I had to keep reading to try and figure out what Mel had been through and was going through and why all these events were happening but there were a ton of plot holes. I was left with more questions than answers. Hopefully a sequel is coming to dig in a little deeper into who Mel really is and how she stumbled into this life.
What a twisted story Melissa! It was good though, definitely agree with the trigger warning. It was awesome to see the main character grow into herself. Sad that she went through all that she did. It can definitely affect how people behave. Can’t wait to read the next one!
