It’s wedding season in Sweetwater, and plenty of Savannah’s nearest and dearest have paired up to tie the knot. First up are Todd Satterfield and Marley Cartwright – but things take a turn when the father of the groom, Sheriff Bob Satterfield, doesn’t show up in time for the wedding.
Todd and Marley exchange vows anyway – the church is full and the minister waiting – but of course there’s no question about honeymooning in Tuscany under the circumstances. They stay home and, like everyone else in the family, turn their brains inside out to try to figure out what could have happened.
But as the hours and days tick by, Bob’s disappearance remains a mystery. The investigation is only made more confusing, and more urgent, by the discovery of another three missing men from a nearby town.
The next weekend is the wedding of Savannah’s brother Dix to Chief of Police Tamara Grimaldi, and Savannah’s determined that that’s going to take place as planned, Bob or no Bob. She takes over most of the wedding duties from Grimaldi, so the chief of police, along with Savannah’s husband Rafe and sheriff’s deputy Cletus Johnson, can keep scouring the county for any sign of the missing.
But when all four are found, all shot and left for dead in a pickup truck in the Bog, it’s clear that something big is at stake, and getting Bob back in (mostly) one piece, doesn’t mean he’ll stay that way long enough to attend his own wedding to Savannah’s mother two more weeks hence...

My tastes may run dark as of late, but I enjoy these type of cozy mysteries on occasion. Jenna Bennett has captured my attention for three years now - ever since I read a free copy of the first book in the series.
No surprise Savannah is back and finding a new mystery or crime to “solve”. This time it involves her mother’s boyfriend and him being for dead. Luckily her oh so sexy husband, Rafe, is there to take charge.
Love these characters and happy to see them one more time.
Jenna Bennett is one of my top five authors and Last Call is a perfect example of the reason. Danger, family, love are woven together to make another outstanding novel I see that the title says Short Mystery but the book did not seem short at all. When a beloved member of their community disappears and for them the search seems to go on forever, the group braces for heartbreak while they prepare for the wedding of Chief of Police Grimaldi and Savannah's brother Dix. Who would ever have imagined in the beginning that Savannah would stand as matron of honor for her old nemesis at her wedding? The contrast between fear and joy only heightens the level of suspense. While I know that this book can be read as a standalone, but watching Savannah grow outside of the old southern box she was raised in and seeing her relationship with Rafe grow makes the later books even more special. Ah...Rafe. Excuse me while I wipe the drool of my face as Savannah so often has to.
Just when I think Savannah and Rafe's story is done, another chapter unfolds. This book has all of the right things for a romantic mystery. Just as Savannah's one-time suitor, Todd, is getting married, his father, who is both the sheriff and Savannah's mother's beau, disappears mysteriously. Shortly afterward the police learn that three other local men are missing as well. The clock keeps ticking as Rafe and other law enforcement personnel search for any clues to help find the missing men. Savannah can't keep still at home when there is a mystery to be solved, so she, with her mother in tow, conducts her own investigation. Will they find the sheriff alive or not? Who could have abducted him, and why? The conclusion is both suspenseful and satisfying. The sweetness of Savannah and Rafe's love for each other and baby Carrie is, as always, a beautiful thread woven throughout the story.
Despite being some time since Savannah Martin and family have appeared on our bookshelves, I was delighted to welcome them back and settle down for a day of enjoyable mystery, murder and laughter. The author has not lost her knack of drawing me quickly into a story and keeping me involved with the disappearance of the local sheriff, three friends who have also vanished, organising three weddings over two weeks and a nasty dispute with some large birds. Savannah’s gorgeous husband Rafe plays an important part, as he usually does, in solving the case with very important input from Savannah and her mother who once again displays her ability to be the steel hand in a velvet glove. It was great to catch up with all the Tennessee book friends once more, and I look forward to reading about them again in the not too distant future.
I read all 21 books in this series, and absolutely enjoyed each one. The main characters are strong, and all but the villains are delightful. I highly suggest you read the series in order, as many characters carry throughout. Some typos and one character's name mistakenly use for another's (if you are paying attention lol). Sad to be at "last Call" , as I want MORE, but I will now check out more books from Jenna Bennett! Enjoy the ride! Oh, also enjoyed that the "love" scenes were titillating, but left most to the readers' imagination... I prefer that.
I love Rafe and Savannah and the whole crew. Savannahs 's mother is going to marry the sheriff and long time friend Bob. First Bobs son is getting married but Bob does not show up for the ceremony. Savannah has flashbacks from when she and Rafe were suppose to get married but he disappeared the night before. I won't say anymore about the book except Ms. Bennett is one of my favorite authors and I love the whole series. Wonder what will happen when Dix and Tamara gets married??? ( I know I misspelled their names...sorry)....can't wait!!!!
All is right in the cozy mystery world - Savannah and Rafe are on the case again! I have loved every book in this series, partly because of the conversational style of telling the story, feeling you know these characters and enjoy their company and in large part because you are sometimes confronted with hidden social prejudices that you need, and want, to drag into the light. Yes, it was a very happy day when I found a new book in a favorite series!
This certainly looks like it’s the end of the series, but the story didn’t feel like any kind of ending with all the new beginnings in it. The mystery certainly kept me guessing. I wasn’t entirely surprised at who the villain turned out to be, but I wasn’t expecting any of their reasons. I have loved watching Savannah learn and grow. And seeing her extended family embrace all the challenges and changes that were thrown at them, has just been icing on the cake. I hope it turns out that this isn’t the end of the series because I’m going to miss these characters.
I'm a Savannah and Rafe fan. I love this entire series, and I've had to wait a long time for a new book to come out. I enjoy the chemistry between the two of them. I love how Rafe always calls her "darlin'." And the mysteries are always interesting. Once in a great while, Savannah can make me wonder at what flies out of her mouth or at the decisions she makes, but I still find her appealing. These are my go-to, fun mysteries. And I hope another one comes out soon.
I have followed this series for sometime now and cannot get enough. I was first attracted.to the series because I had been in the mortgage business for 35 years before retirement. This book seems final but I hope not. I would love to see more children from Savannah and more mysteries to solve.
This was another entertaining instalment from one of my favourite authors. I missed the presence of some of the characters from Savannahs old job though, and her move to Sweetwater has limited the scope of the stories quite a bit but overall it was a good book and an entertaining read.
So glad to read the newest installment of Savannah and Race's move back home. Totally worth the wait and having so many couples become happily married was a bonus!
Excellent story and good read. I love reading about Samantha and Rafe. The stories are interesting always with a twist. I can't wait for the next one. I sure hope there will be a next one.
Great book and love this series. This sure feels like the last book of the series with three weddings tying up a lot of the loose ends from previous book.
Loved the story. I took one star off, however, due to Carrie being such a perfect child. Her behavior is not what one expects of such a young child and her character is too good to be true. Always sleeping and never fussy even though she spends almost all her time in a car seat. Unbelievable!
This book flowed from beginning to end holding my interest with occasional chuckles. I can't believe Jenna got three weddings and multiple crimes in one story, but she did.💖💖😁😁😁😁
This is one of my all time favorite series. It was a delight to be reading more adventures with Savannah and Rafe. It feels a little like an end to the series but I hope not!!
This book was very entertaining, there was no dislike about it. Kept you entertained. I would suggest it to anyone who loves mysteries a little comedy and love for characters who brings out the books. So the read was good.
I’ve enjoyed every book in this series! The characters are great and have continued throughout. I know I will read all of them again. I truly hope that there will someday be another book to add to this series.
I loved every book in the Savannah Martin series. I would love to see them made into a TV mini-series. My sister introduced me to this collection now I'm recommending the last two books for her to read.😀
Another excellent and gripping storyline, absolutely recommend this series of books. I love how the characters have all grown as the stories progressed. A Fanta author. Well done 👍🏼
Couldn't put this book down. I had to know what was going to happen. I'm so glad it ended the way it did. Hoping for more!!! I definitely recommend it!!
I absolutely love this series. Start at the beginning and work your way through the books. Sweet, romantic, and suspenseful in every book! You will not be disappointed.
