‘As above, so below. Without, as within. In this existence there is nothing that is not to one degree or another a smaller or larger version of something else. I am a reflection of that truth. A distillation that is specific to here and now. Our very own zero point of everything.’

The world is dead … or changed, as some might say.
There are those who embrace this new world, and those who deny it. Shunning it as an abomination of the natural order.
Two civilizations rising up to face each other.
A great Wall sealing off one, cocooning it in the safety of the old world. Protecting its inhabitants from the forces which so long ago transformed the planet into the barren wasteland it has become.
The other a great City. Believed by many to be the last. Those who reside within its borders saved from the same fate as the rest of the world by Natalie.
A creature born from the chaos consuming the planet, or the reason for it? No one knows anymore.
But that was then and this is now, and Natalie is gone. Long ago leaving the world to its fate, abandoning those who would usurp her power - and without her protection, the City is slowly dying.

Now three women find themselves swept away by a plot orchestrated by those behind the great Wall, and those who rule from the depths of the City. A plot to take back the control which was so long ago lost.

Traci, her whole life lived inside the technologically superior world of the Commune, now forced to flee from her home behind the security of the Wall in search of something she doesn’t understand deep within the forbidden City.
Chloe, a priestess of Natalie. Wandering the world without purpose for longer than she cares to remember, suddenly called forth by the long lost protector of this new world. A whisper in the night bringing her back to the City in order to watch over the one who is at the centre of it all.
Quinne.
Along with Traci, Quinne is made to flee the Commune, pursued by all because of something buried deep inside her. Something wanted by all.
An answer to the change - and there’s nothing they won’t do to get it.

My first love has to be the movies, but I'm never without a book, so reading is still right up there. Joined Goodreads as part of promoting my first novel 'BENEATH' - https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...
- which is now available through Kindle, but also found that I enjoy the site as a way of venting about the books I read and for finding out what others think.
My second book 'WITHIN THE DARK' -https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_... - is also now available through Kindle.

"Within the Dark" by Simon James Wood immerses readers in a hauntingly vivid dystopian world where the line between light and shadow blurs, and humanity teeters on the brink of extinction. With eloquent prose and intricate world-building, Wood crafts a narrative that is as captivating as it is chilling, drawing readers into a web of intrigue and deception that spans generations.

At the heart of the story are three women—Traci, Chloe, and Quinne—each grappling with their own demons as they navigate the treacherous landscapes of the Commune and the City. As they uncover the truth behind Natalie's disappearance and the dark forces at play, they are forced to confront their deepest fears and desires, forging unlikely alliances and risking everything in their quest for answers.

What sets "Within the Dark" apart is its exploration of power dynamics and the human psyche in a world ravaged by chaos and uncertainty. Wood delves deep into the complexities of identity, agency, and survival, crafting characters who are as flawed as they are compelling. From Traci's journey of self-discovery to Chloe's struggle to reclaim her lost purpose, each woman's story unfolds with raw emotion and gritty realism.
