This is book one of the Den of Shadows series and the main character is ex-foster and street kid, (Tate) Tatum Teague, who was taken in by the leader of the Ravens in Savannah after coming across her in an old warehouse. Tatum had managed to kill a dux demon with just a piece of metal bar, after it killed her young friend Jayla and the four other street kids staying with her for protection. Not that it did them much good that night. Captain Coltrane had also taken in her own niece and nephew years before, after their parents were killed by Underworlders, as they call all supernatural beings and creatures. Her nephew Hawk becomes one of Tate’s best friend, as well as another novice Roxie. The Ravens are part of a supernatural task force who keep humans safe from any Underworlders who break the accord. They cannot kill any Underworlders unless they are attacked first, either, if they stick to the Accords between all the factions. Savannah is a hotspot for demons crossing over, using a portal in the local Colonial Park Cemetery. Tate ands her partner Hawk, are sent there for their final test before they can become fully fledged Ravens, but nothing goes quite as it should, with a dux demon appearing just after they had slain the lower lever snake like sub demons that came through. Tate has to save Hawk before the demon can take all of his soul!
The next day, all the final year novices take part in the important ceremony, The Calling, whereupon a witch casts a spell on them all, giving them the enhanced strength and speed they will need to fight off the dangers they will soon face. Captain Coltrane seems to have a soft spot for Tate, not that she hasn’t earned her place as the best novice there, and gives her a special graduation present, a dagger with a hidden vial of Demise that can kill a demon with one cut! Tate doesn’t share a room with anyone, after most were driven away by her nightmares, as her past was not a pleasant one, especially in all the horrible foster homes she seemed to end up in, where she was scarred by physically and mentally! After their graduation, Roxie persuades her using Hawk as the sweetener, to go out and celebrate. Only they end up at the demon nightclub, Wrath & Ruin, which is owned by Lord Ruin Bacchus, the high demon of the whole Savannah area and more. When her gaze is drawn to the upper level, she spots the back of Lord Bacchus, but it is the demon speaking to him that grabs her attention, He has one blue eye and one golden eye, making him a hybrid of some sort. She soon finds out he is Fane Maverick and he has a serious look of hate when he sees her.
When she leaves without Roxie and Hawk, after seeing them doing the unthinkable, breaking her heart and any bonds of friendship she had for them both, Fane follows her. He has been trying to find out who killed his brother and it turns out Fane is both demon and wolf shifter, with a wicked set of spikes! She gets away back to Corbin Manor, where all the Ravens stay, but he tells her he will find her! When Captain Coltrane sends Tate off on a very dangerous solo mission to steal a volatile artefact that shouldn’t be in demon hands, she soon finds herself in more trouble than she could ever imagine and Fane Maverick is right there beside her! The demon artefact sinks into her body and Fane has no choice but to keep her safe, whilst everyone else is hunting her down, as the artefact is no good to anyone if she dies with it within her. Only he really does want her dead, knowing only half the story of how his brother was killed and not knowing what Tate went through back in the day. The artefact is changing her and to save her, he has to bite her, mixing his shifter and demon self into a bond between them. Attraction grows but can never be allowed to happen, not with both hating the others guts for what they presume the other is. She will have to trust him, but he is part demon and that part wants her dead, if she doesn’t, then she could be the very trigger to the destruction of the world itself. The darkness is growing within her and wants to get out! Fantastic start to a series, with two deeply damaged main characters, one seeking redemption for what she has done in the past, and the other seeking revenge for his loss. Oh man, did this book have me glued to the pages. J.N. Colon knows how to write the best gritty urban fantasies—high-stakes danger, tough as nails heroines who’ve been shaped by even tougher pasts, and broody alpha males with hard outer shells and gooey soft-hearted-protect-the-ones-they-love-at-all-costs centers. I absolutely love all of her books. They evoke all the feels as you can’t help but get sucked into the world J.N. creates as if you’re right there experiencing it right along with the characters, and boy did this book have all that in spades.
Tate has led a hard life and has experienced more abuse and heartbreak than any person ever should. It’s shaped her life and weighs heavily on her shoulders, even though none of it was her fault. Joining The Ravens gave her purpose in all the chaos, a way for her to redeem herself for things she feels responsible for. They’ve taught her control and painted the lines between sides—humans like her on one and nightworlders on the other. But things begin to blur when she goes on her first solo mission and everything goes sideways, because nothing is ever as it seems, and those painted lines don’t really exist.
Fane Maverick is a full-on alpha male fighting his own way through the world. He has two objectives: hunt down and retrieve a demon artifact of great power, and avenge his brother’s murder. When the two collide, things get interesting.
I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll just say this book is highly addicting. Once the pages start flipping, there is no stopping until you reach the end and immediately scream for more, so make sure you’ve got plenty of time to ignore the real world as you dive into another full of action, danger, mystery, magic, betrayal, and some superhot tension between supposed enemies. This book/start to a new series set in the Nightworld universe just may just be my most favorite by J.N. Colon yet.
The only thing left to say is when will book two release? Because that ending was just…aaahhhhh!...and I need more stat.

The first book in a new series by JN Colon that is darker and grittier than previous books and series I’ve read but the draw is the same and it will draw you in and keep you glued to the story and the twisting plot of a story fraught with betrayals by humans and supernaturals alike in the life of one Tatum Teague!
Tate has had a hellish life and when the young girl she has been trying to protect is killed, Tate kills the demon and is recruited to fight other demons. Things change through human betrayals and a mission that goes wrong due to a certain demon who wants to kill her for personal reasons. Due to what happens on the mission she was on he isn’t able to do that and her life is forever changed by him leading to more betrayals and imprisonments and her being forced to do what she never wanted to do again to save someone who turned out to not be there at all! She has mixed feelings about the demon who turned her but once again she is betrayed by him to another who takes her captive. The suspense and story will leave you wanting to read the second book now after the adrenaline wears off from reading the exciting cliffhanger!
I recommend this book but be warned of the coarse language and sexual tension you’ll read about in this book between Tate and Fane Maverick There is more to come in the next book as these two are fated to meet again and this time there will be more than that sexual tension between them as Tate will want revenge!
If you’re looking for a book that will keep you reading into the wee hours of the morning because you can’t put it down, well here it is! This book will deliver all you’re looking for in a paranormal romance suspenseful action adventure book! Pick it up and be prepared to enter a world with characters you will want to continue to read about when the next books come out!

Just WOW this author is new too me I wasn't sure what to expect but I'm really glade I read the book its a brand new series by J.N. Colon. This book is one I couldn't put down and I was cursing when it ended just why the ending gah.
This book is raw dark and gritty two more tortured souls couldn't be more perfect for each other if they don't kill each other first. Tatum has had the most dark, and twisted childhood she had to fight just to stay alive fauster care ain't know joke and those were the first tast of evil she knew but just as she makes her own little family on the streets that's when she meets a true monster something she never knew existed now theres nothing left but someone gives her hope become a Raven and protect others from the Nightworlders. But more betrayal comes and she gets the attention of and enemy she didn't know she had Fane Maverick man he's hot dangerous and just as wounded as she is but she killed his brother and there after the same thing and artifact that will change Torren forever.
Fane is looking for his brothers killer well she's not what he expected and there after the same thing so he needs that artifact then he can kill her. Fane the offspring of a shifter and a demon makes him cranky and vicious but Tatum could care less because she's not so good or bad herself she's tough and she'll go down fighting making sure to take a few more monsters with her on her way and if Fane can't stand her so much why try to keep her alive maybe it's the artifact, maybe it's her snarky personality or it could be that bite who knows but these to could set a room on fire with just a look to bad they hate each other so much.

This series is not complete yet! I went into this thinking all 3 books rounded out the series, but that is not the case.
I cant say this was beautifully written but it was a really really fun read. Its an enemies to lovers story but sadly there is no actual being lovers in this story. Shockingly i didn't mind the lack of sex (though orgasms abound) because the story was that engrossing. You have a strong tortured heroine with a really really rough childhood and you mix her with a tortured hero who wants to kill her you get a lot of arguing, denying attractions, magical entanglements and fun all around.
Pro
- Heroine is actually very strong and can hold her own in a fight
- There is just enough magic and world building that gives you a taste but isnt an overwhelming odyssey
- While lacking actual sex, it didn't lack spice
- I enjoyed that they build up her world before she meets Fane and her attraction to several men before and after Fane. Nothing worse than a heroine pining after a man who says they dont want them.
Con
- I wish there was a little more closure in her raven world. ***Spoiler****I know book 2 attempts to get there but really I never get to see her and Hawk have an honest conversation after she is turned.
- I wanted to learn more about fane and really felt like that was left off on purpose to wait for book 2
- I wish we saw her shifter side

This book was capable of enthralling me completely with its action, lust, desire, trauma and fights between the two main characters. Those alone were worth it to read this rather like a demon.
Tatum and Fane both have painful pasts which have made them who they currently are... I can't wait to find out more about Fane's past as we do get a fair amount of glimpses into Tate's.
I don't know how long I can actually hold on for another book.. I feel like I need it like a life saving drug.
The intense hate and love relationship between the two is amazing but I'm glad Fane's cold walls slip towards the end.
Tate is heartbroken to fail her mission and not be able to go back to the ravens but in my eyes she has found something even more fulfilling.
Absorbing the infernal sol may have meant she absolutely cannot die and now has a protector to make sure that doesn't happen.. But I'm sure something more exists between our fiery pair.
The most entertaining read I have devoured recently which had my eyes pricking and my heart pounding.

I was lucky enough to get a recommendation of this book from a Facebook book group and I'm so thankful because I'm obsessed. Definitely a top read for me this year 😍
I wanted true enemies to lovers with a damaged, broken MMC and this definitely delivers. Also wolves....wolf shifters are my absolute favorite so I couldn't help but jump right in.
We also get a feisty bada$$ FMC who gives as good as she gets and I love her. Tate is my kind of girl and I want to be the bestie she deserves.
Fane Maverick.....oooooh his description alone melts me but the broodiness and the denial that he has found his match is so captivating. I cannot wait to continue.
Also for the first 40% of this book I was getting major Shadowhunters (mortal instruments) vibes but it definitely took on a life of its own and I'm heavily invested in this story.
I love finding new indie authors to support. I cannot wait to shout to recommend this to everyone!

Reading this book was a page turner I really enjoyed it,Tate was thrown to the wolves lol so to speak her so called friends made her realize its better to protect your self cuz sometimes monsters come in many shape and form,and when her past comes back to haunt her in a gourgouse form she all confused and just when she lets someone in they beyond shatter her gurl you left me on a cliff hanger I'm so mad lol can't wait to read book 2 because after all Tate is put threw there only so much a person can take before they explode and all that anger and darkness she carries bout to explode she tries to hide it to keep people safe but time and time again they show there true color so that saying gose you reap what you sow. you poked and hurt to create a monster don't be surprised when the monster finally come a knocking.

She lost her family at a young age, she got put into the system which she ran from and when she finally thought she has a new start....well.
Becoming a Raven with her best friend was suppose to change her life, and it did just not in the way she hoped.
Fane Maverick has his own agenda and Tate is part of it, but nothing is ever as it seems and these two are thrown together and WOW what an adventure this is turning out to be. Just when you think you have it figured out the author throws another sharp curve into the story and your find yourself staggering at the new revolution.
A world and characters that are amazingly put together.
I am on the edge of my seat with the cliff-hanger and can't wait to see what happens next.
Great start to new series, I look forward to continuing.

Tatum grew up in foster care/on the street but is eventually taken in by a group who keep people safe from demons, shifters and the like. After she is fully initiated into the group she is sent on a super secret and dangerous mission. Turns on Fane (the demon shifter who hates her) is on the same mission, they end up clashing and everything goes to hell.
I liked Tatum overall, she was childish at weird times though. Fane wasn't my favorite. He obviously had a rough go of it but he also was pretty awful to Tate at times. The story was very intricate, lots of creatures and different relationships, it was fascinating. I read it in one sitting, but I also found it to be a little too long. Like maybe it didn't take all that to get where we ended up. I put book 2 on my TBR list but we'll see.

I want more!
Tatum Teague has been focused on becoming a Raven since she was seventeen and her friend was killed by a demon. Now that she has achieved her goal, she has been sent on a mission that threatens everything she has worked for.
Fane Maverick had been searching for his brother’s killer for two years. Now that he has found her, he can't kill her until he can separate her from what she stole. He hates her but he can’t resist her.
JN Colon has a knack for writing books that grab the reader and don’t let go. This book has shifters, vampires, demons, non-stop action, and plenty of steamy scenes. Great series starter but ended in a cliffhanger that left me wanting more. Oh yeah, that’s what they are supposed to do! I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

JN Colon has a knack for writing books that grab the reader and don’t let go. This book has shifters, vampires, demons, non-stop action, and plenty of steamy scenes. Great series starter but ended in a cliffhanger that left me wanting more. Oh yeah, that’s what they are supposed to do! I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

I LOVED this story. I had it all.... a good story with a few twists and surprises, lots of fighting to stay alive, flawed characters, a main character trying to atone for the past and make something of her life, and a hot main guy to throw everything sideways. It grabbed me from the beginning and I found it hard to put down as I had to see what would happen next and if these two would meet in the middle and get together. Lots of steam and my breath held at times then I burst into laughter at these two and the side characters that made the story better and more fun. Loved it and the ending was killer and made me laugh. I felt for Tatum and had my fingers crossed the whole time that something would go right for her.

Our heroine didn't mean to get linked to the ancient artifact. She certainly didn't want to feel its power running through her. But sometimes things don't exactly go to plan...
This is book one of the series, so a good place to start.
This is an urban fantasy with demons, the fae and more. The story is well written and easy to read, although it does get rather intense now and then. Both the settings and the characters are well done, with some nice development to flesh out the story. The plot is rather complex, with lots of twists and turns which keep you guessing where things are going next. Overall, this was an excellent start and I definitely am looking forward to the next book.

WOW this is one hell of a dark and gritty urban fantasy romance that gets a hold of you and does not let go. Our female mc Tatum is such a great character, strong, reliable, totally kicks ass and she’s wanted to joy the supernatural task force ever since she experienced tragedy in her life. Fane Our super cute, super hot male mc is looking for his brothers killer and but cannot kill her until she is separated from an amulet. Shifters, vampires, demons, fantastic world building, action, adventure, suspense and plenty of steam, this is thrilling, dark and a little complicated but it is oh so good!

The characters are attractive but I found the universe of the novel and the plot of the story rather difficult to follow. I had to read the beginning three times to understand what it was about...

Have you ever read a book you couldn't put down? Well this is one of those rare gems! Savage Bite grabs you from page one and doesn't let you go until after you're finished with the book. The story ARC is one of the most interesting and original I've ever read. The chemistry in this book is sizzling. The characters are richly written. Tate is a survivor with a heart of gold and her love interest is such a complex character. The villain of the book is so psychotic and well written, like everything else. I didn't see the twists and turns coming at all. This book will make your toes curl with ecstasy and your heart pound double time.

This book started off with a slow introduction into the main character, but keeps a bit of mystery as to what happened to make her become who she is throughout the book.
As the plot develops, it takes her through flashbacks which also unfolds another complication for an enemy she didn't see coming. This enemy takes her through a whirlwind of a journey, and they continue to leave her with confusing emotions.
And the wicked cliffhanger ending leaves you utterly blindsided.
One question remains ... for now, anyways - when's the next book?!

A born survivor, Tate (Tatum) has lived to through some horrible situations, but it seemed to get better for her, when she crossed paths with Coltrane. Tate needs to pass the initiation, to become a Raven, then she can protect humans from supernatural predators. I loved Tate, she has plenty of sass, strength and is a fighter. I loved her gripping story, that sunk it's claws into me and had me reading "just another chapter". I have to read the next book.

What a feast! The excitement just kept coming. Shifters galore, witches everywhere and then there are humans. Don't pass up this book it you want some action.
Having demons chasing you wasn't a big deal for Tatum, as she was training to become a Raven demon hunter. Tatum had killed a demon when she was only 17 years old while trying to save some homeless kids he was after. What Tatum was going to find out that his brother Fane was after Tatum for the killing.
All hell breaks loose when Tatum was sent to steal a magic stone and everyone is after her. Lots of heat and great storytelling.

WOW! J.N Colon does not disappoint in this first book of Den of Shadows series. I was captivated from start to finish. Tate is my fave type of lead - sassy, strong and seriously flawed but in the end is just trying to survive and do the best she can. Tate & Fane's relationship is dark and complicated. This story provided tons of action, adventure, suspense & steam. I am totally invested in these characters and can't wait to see what happens next.

I didn’t really like Tate or Fane at first but the more I got to know them the better they became. I wasn’t a fan of the hot and cold with Fane. It definitely made a lot of sense when the whole picture was revealed. Their chemistry was off the charts though. I have to say I was super disappointed about Hawk but not surprised. I’m ready to see what happens next.

Must read! Seriously loved it. All you fantasy, paranormal lovers out there must one-click this baby! I absolutely loved everything about this book! The characters are easy to fall in love with. The building of the story is perfectly paced, in my opinion. The build of relationships is spot on and a little bit spicy…I think many of you will love this new book by JN Colon. She’s one of my fav authors and I’ve never been let down. Give her a go. I doubt you’ll regret it.

This book has me believing that J.N. Colon is sitting back in her chair petting a cat and laughing at us all wickedly. Deceit has never ran so deep as it does here in the Den of Shadows. Tatum has lived for this moment to finally be able to begin her redemption for those she couldn't save. Her first mission couldn't have gone more wrong when the brother of the demon she killed shows up for the very item she was sent to retrieve. One move that has the best of intentions sends her dangerously down the wrong path. Not stuck with Fane, said dead demons brother she fights to make her way back home. Not that Fane make anything easy with his hot/cold temper. Betrayal is not always seen, nor is it always from the enemy.

A fantastic start to a series. This was packed with twists, danger,betrayal, suspense, sass, strength and steam. This was definitely a page turner and left you on a naughty cliff hanger, but with an incredible and amazing characters what more could you want. Brilliant reading experience.

Fantastic story I loved it and the characters Tatum and Fane there is so much betrayal, action, adventure, suspense, danger, passion and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. Sorry guys no spoilers it’s just too good to spoil, this is a fantastic story but there is a cliffhanger ending so bring on book 2 and I highly recommend this book.

I really liked the darker story here. The relationship between the main character is complex, and the plot of the story is additive. Lovers of shifter romance where everything is not straightforward, and of more complex storylines will definitely love this book.

Hold on to your seat there is way to much happening. Action, mystery, betrayal and danger. Follow Tate and Fane as they figure eveything out. Can Tate make it as a Raven? Fane is out for revenge and searching for demon artifacts. What will happen when Fane wants what Tate has?.

This is Book 1 of a new series. I was hooked into the story and the character's lives right from the start and could not put the book down. I loved it!

Never a dull moment!!
Once you start reading a J.N.Colon series it is never a dull moment!! It grabs you and you can't stop reading!!! This series is one of those obsession readings!! Loved every freaking moment of this book!! It does end on a somewhat cliffhanger but soooo worth it!!
