I write stories with alpha males and strong, determined women.

I am a dreamer, an avid reader of fiction, a sometimes gardener and an inept crafter. I live in Idaho. I have three sons, a daughter-in-law, a granddaughter, little grandson and a new great-granddaughter. Over the years, I taught dance but as time passed, I decided to try my hand at a new endeavor - writing. I enjoy life and all its promises.

I had to fight for the chance to read this book but I’m so glad I did because this book is epic with a capital E. As a post apocalyptic fanatic, I could be an expert. I’ve read and seen all the successful series (movies too). I know what can make or break a post apocalyptic series. It must have a gritty edge with a group of characters dealing in survival mode and an overwhelming enemy set to destroy every living creature. The setting needs to be stark yet have a realistic vibe. This book has all this and more!

The setting and descriptive narration really capture the reality these characters find themselves in. A barren setting where death lurks in the shadows, waiting to pounce. The narration describes every scene with precision, especially the tension between the characters.

The characters are what drive this story, though. Each character has its own backstory which drew me into the story. Saffron is a strong, kick butt and take names kind of heroine. She doesn’t need anyone or anything, least of all love. When love finds her, it’s the perfect match.

The action scenes are high-octane with visual details. The stakes are life or death which I loved. The ending stole my breath. I can’t wait for book two.

If you’re a post-apocalyptic reader, this is a must-read. Don’t wait, start reading today.

Disclaimer: I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Saffron (The Chimeras 1) is a post-apocalyptic science fiction romance. Aliens (the Friem) have invaded Earth and killed most of the people. The survivors are either in hiding or are on-the-run from the vicious dog-like creatures the aliens have released to hunt down the survivors and the “Jackers,” human scum who prey on other humans.

Saffron (h) is among a group of survivors who have banded together as family. They’re holed up underground in an abandoned military installation. (Note: Saffron has several “sisters” all of whom are named after spices/herbs). The group is hoping to attack the aliens and take back their planet. When outsider Gabe (H) arrives, her group cautiously takes him in. They’re wary of strangers who might be Jackers. If warrior-woman Saffron had her way, she’d kill him. But chemistry can’t be denied, and these two find romance.

The book is a complete story that ends with an HEA/HFN for Saffron and Gabe, but sets up the story arc for the rest of the series (beating the aliens). Each book will tell the romance of a different sister (book two is Poppy).

I really enjoyed this book. Author P.L. Parker does a great job with world-building and establishing a believable post-apocalyptic Earth. The characters are likable and interesting. I bought book two right after finishing book one. I’m looking forward to reading the whole series.

I'm hooked

P.l. Parker is a click now to purchase author for me. This was a great story that promises an exciting continuation. I had to laugh about the mention of the underground military base in Utah they think is so secret. Will be waiting for next book.

Aliens + Strong Women + Crazy Action

Saffron reads like an episode of a late 1990's, early 2000's TV series. It feels very similar to Stargate or possibly even The Lost World.

Saffron is the star of this show. She and others are living in a post apocalyptic world, salvaging what they can after an alien evasion. The aliens stalled, but refusing to leave earth.

The story mainly focuses on Saffron finding her purpose besides surviving.
She comes to the realization there is more to her relationships that she may have taken for granted before. Discovering many secrets along the way. Giving the story a mix of emotional reflection, romance, and action.

Overall a quick, fun read that has set up for future installments.

Too short but I'm sure there is more on the way. Plenty of action, romantic and otherwise, that keeps things moving and wanting more.
