Colette Hates Pets

Rate this book
Meet Colette - a young girl who really, really doesn't like animals at all! They bite. They scratch. They are boring. Worst of all, they don't really love you - they are only there for the food. In fact, their ultimate goal is to take over the world, with you as their servant!
Then, to her horror, her mother arrives home - with a newly-adopted kitten! You'll discover who really has the last word - and how sometimes love and affection can be found where you least expect it.

My specialty is teaching people how to communicate in difficult situations. As a former customer service executive - and now as a speaker, trainer, and practicing therapist - my books and training programs explore the mechanics of how we communicate, based on recent principles of behavioral psychology.

I am perhaps best known for my two #1 customer service bestsellers The Customer Service Survival Kit (AMACOM, 2013) and What to Say to a Porcupine (AMACOM, 2008), as well as How to Tell Anyone Anything (AMACOM, 2009), which explores how to handle difficult workplace conversations.

If you are looking for "smile training" or basic advice on communications skills, there are lots of books out there. But if you want to learn what to say to someone after you've just towed their car away - or how to talk to a co-worker who needs to shower more often - or what will defuse a toxic boss - you've come to the right place! Enjoy my books, or Google me to learn more. Welcome!

Very cute!

Short and sweet! Me and my kiddo loves the story and the illustrations. The story was very cute, a girl goes from hating pets to loving “maybe this one is an exception”.

Perfect for discussing

Great book to read aloud, and also good for discussing with your kid(s). Just the right level to address other issues, like not being open to new experiences or having another sibling in the house (oops, maybe I spilled the beans on what I’m hoping is the sequel, “Collette Hates Little Brothers”)! Fun and impactful!!
