When Raegan is kidnapped out of a movie theater parking lot after moving to a new city, it sets in motion a series of events she could never have prepared for.
Suddenly, she's thrust into the world of the Elementum, discovering she has untapped powers and a connection to four men who claim to be her Genus. With forces outside of her control changing her life, she'll have to lean on them, but the closer they grow, the more feelings inside her grow.
But why are people out to get her? What could they possibly want with her? And will her new Genus be up to the task of keeping her safe?
This book would probably be better suited under Y/A the heroine reads like she's under 17, just full on childish. If some of it was an approach at humour it missed the mark for me. There is nothing wrong with crying but that's her go to for all situations, just ended up thinking get a grip luv.
Personally I reckon if more time was spent tweaking the plot, making it believable, rather than coming up with latin/Greek etc words to describe this elemental phenomenon it would have been a more engaging read. Almost getting kidnapped that many times yet there doesn't really seem to be a drive to get to the bottom of it. That leaves a plot rotating on teenage angst which isn't particularly well written.
A normal night out at the movies with her best friend and brother ended in a life-changing kidnapping. Raegan rescued herself but her abduction led her into a new world. The Elementum. Unknown to even herself, Rae is not only an Elementum but one so rare, it is almost mythical. Suddenly, she has a Genus, powers she must discover and develop, and finds herself surrounded by guys she is attracted to, not to mention enemies who are threatened by her very existence.
I enjoyed this return to the world of the Elementum. In fact, I would say this is my favorite book by this author to date. I love the trope: Believing you are just an average girl suddenly you find out there are secrets surrounding your very existence and there is another world you belong to. I love the growing pains Rae and her Genus faced. I would have appreciated more focus on the Genus and more in-depth time exploring the new relationships. I also would have liked some tweaks. Where was the sense of urgency? The book starts with a kidnapping and it soon becomes clear Rae is being targeted. And she is a rarity. Yet, there is no increased security other than the boys keeping a loose eye on her and she wanders out by herself. Despite this, I was drawn into the story and barely put it down until I reached the final page. It left me wanting the next book; I want more Elementum.
I feel like this lands on the YA side of RH. I wanted to love it so bad because the concept and plot were great, but the FMC seemed so young/childish, and didn’t almost wasn’t consistent in the way she responded to things. I love a FMC that’s protected and soft but it didn’t land that way. The guys too, while I love and instant list/love it just didn’t seem genuine. If your looking for something light and YA this is totally for you, but something a little older/with realistic emotions probably not.
I loved this story so much with the FMC not knowing a thing as she is adopted but threats soon come when she is believed to be an elementum. However they have no clue what her element is and neither has it ever manifested. Soon however there is a myth found about a rare type of element, the fifth and this is exactly what our girl is. The guys aren't all as welcoming and she is in dire need of protection. Great read and I need more!
I really enjoy elemental type books and this one gripped me. Imagine growing up not know what you really are. Then one day bam you find our elementals are really and you are not normal you are rare. Great read.
Wow!!!! I really like this book! This is easy read, and it’s so easy to Get into even it’s a lot of new words to remember. I loved the story and can’t wait to see what happens next!
