Vampires are my all time favorite supernatural creatures, which made the offer of a review copy of the Violet Night trilogy too good to pass up! I will read anything that has to do with vampires and the Violet Night Trilogy did not disappoint. Three full length novels with action, romance, and vampires - yes please!

From the beginning of the first book, Violet Midnight, there was action and intrigue. Most of her characters were enjoyable to read about, especially Emma and Jake. I will say that the instant love they felt literally right off the bat threw me for a loop. I’ve heard the term ‘instalove’ many times, but Violet Midnight took it to a whole new level. However, after I read through the trilogy it made sense and I understood their connection.

I love Rush’s take on vampire hunters. Emma kicks ass and has the additional advantage of magic, though at some points I did roll my eyes because it was a bit too cheesy for me. Jake also has special abilities of his own which makes them an awesome team and an even better couple.

All three books were filled with surprises. It was fast paced and kept me wanting more. Thank goodness I had all three books to find out how it ended otherwise I would have gone crazy from all the suspense.

When I found out Lynn was brining this trilogy back I was super excited! I have all 3 of the original prints signed by Lynn and could not be happier to have been apart of the ARC readers for the new Boxset of the trilogy.

It is easy to like and root for the main characters in this trilogy. It is very kick butt and reminds me of a cross between Blade, Buffy and Underworld. There is so much action it's hard to put down until the entire trilogy is over.

Highly recommended- a fabulous read.

I reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was a great new book for the world of Vampires and those who hunt them. I have always been a die hard fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and those like it growing up. And this one has found its way into my ultimate line up for wonderful additions to these stories. The cast of characters, the plot, and even the cover are just so amazing good!

The Violet Night Trilogy is a truly phenomenal and spectacularly riveting journey that will ignite your imagination and set your heart aflame. This story and its astounding characters will pull every human emotion from your very soul. Nothing is left untouched as its sweeps through your very being and calls to you in a way that no other story ever will. You can’t deny the gentle power and magnificent message that flows effortlessly throughout the pages of these three incredible books. I couldn’t bear to see this journey end because the way there was paved with all of the pain, joy, tears, and happiness that was found within my own heart. This story has permanently tattooed itself to my very being, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Emma lost her parents and awoke to a new life and unknown destiny all in one terrible night. These devastating circumstances have left her completely alone, painfully broken, and utterly confused. Her only saving grace is a kind yet mysterious janitor named Gabriel who gives her his friendship, his protection, and eventually his heart. Gabriel lifts Emma into the light and together they begin to start solving the mystery around her new life and new path that she is destined to walk. As her eyes are slowly opened to her new purpose in life, she finds herself once again alone as Gabriel is suddenly and viscously taken from her. Reduced to walking through the days to come in a dead, numbing calm, she learns to navigate her new existence until she finds herself literally colliding with her future at a party one night. Nothing will ever be the same, but can Emma allow herself to open her heart to those she finds entering her life in order to embrace the love she craves, accept the hope she can’t live without, and step into the purpose that she was created for?

I fell hopelessly and completely in love with the beautifully mesmerizing characters that filled these books. They are truly outstanding and they will pull at different parts of your heart throughout this amazing adventure. Their depth is truly inspiring, and I couldn’t believe just how stunning they turned out to be! I lost my heart to each of them, and I will never ever forget them. This has turned out to be one of my all-time favorite series, and I don’t say that lightly!

I haven’t ever read anything written by Lynn Rush until now, and I was beyond the moon impressed and am now a huge fan of this truly remarkable author! She is crazily gifted with a remarkable talent that cannot be contained and needs to be shared with the world. Keep your eye on Rush as I see such greatness in her that is just itching to be let loose. You will not want to miss anything that she writes, so don’t wait to pick up and enjoy the Violent Night Trilogy.

An exciting and interesting take on vampire hunters. Move aside Buffy the vampire slayer, there's a new slayer in town, Emma and she's letting the dust fly.
The plot and progression of this story was entertaining building up to an unforgettable ending.
The characters were fun to root for the only problem was I wanted more details and development not only with the characters but their relationships as well. It was hard for me to connect with the characters especially in the beginning because of the lack of depth.
I really enjoyed the plot and overall story line but I wanted more. More details, more depth, just something a little more.
Overall the trilogy was kickass and entertaining. I loved the overall flow and storyline. I definitely recommend this to Buffy or any other vampire slayer fans out there.

DNF at 12% *

This book definitely made me feel some nostalgia. Reminded me of the days I first picked up books like The Mortal Instruments. But TMI was better written. I just couldn't get into it. The writing felt incredibly juvenile and messy, the characters were flat, the plot wasn't making any sense, the world building was kind of eh. I let this book rest for almost two days just in case I hadn't been in the mood for this kind of book, but alas, I am in the mood to read something urban fantasy, just not this one. There's just too much wrong with it in my opinion.

* 12% of the whole trilogy, chapter 12/25 of the first book

I was very intrigued by this book and knowing Lynn personally made it an enjoyable story. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to completely get into the characters so decided to stop reading.
I loved some of the ideas that she had behind the characters to make them unique in what they could do.

The Violet Night Trilogy Review

Part 1 - Violet Midnight
We meet Emma Martin who is alone other than her best friend and room mate at University Ava, but Emma has a secret that she can't expose Ava too.... She is a vampire hunter!
If you liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer, then you are going to love this book series and its all wrapped up in a tidy 3 book bundle, how can you resist.
Emma wakes up one day with a new tattoo and an orphan! luckily she finds help in the first painful months in the unlikely form of her hospital porter... Gabriel seems to understand that there is something 'paranormal' happening to her, and sets out to help discover and help her... he sees it as his destiny, his mission and Emma needs all the help she can get to understand her new found strength and other oddities...
In the first book, Emma meets Jacob, Jake notices Emma and wants to know more about her, and when he sees her in action he realises she is something 'More' Emma feels something between them too... which is something she hasn't felt in a long time, and when they get to know more about each other, they realise that they have a few more things in common...
Join Emma and Jake as they try to keep the campus a Vamp free place, I am busy reading book 2 now...
Part 2 - Violet Dawn
We start the second book 4 months after book 1, the Vamp's have been quiet and its unnerving Emma, and typical they decide to show up the night she is due to meet Jake's parents!
Now I don't want to do too much about the storyline as it will give the game away, but suffice to say there is going to be a storm brewing... and there is a new guy interested in Emma! Max sets off warning bells in Jake, but is it jealousy or more? Things start to get serious when the Vamps seem to be more coordinated and when a leader of them makes himself known to Emma, Jake and Emma realise the stakes are rising... and not into the vamps..Will Emma survive? Read on to see.
Excitement and a few twists await you.
Right I am now on Book 3... Review coming up soon
WOW...
Ok so how to not give the game away but give you my views on book 3...
well things are a bit calmer, now that the threat of book 2 has been dealt with ( its hard giving a review on a book without giving clues to what happened!)
But both Emma and Jake know that things rarely stay quiet for long, and sure enough the vamps start showing up again, and Ava and Greg find themselves helping more and more with the fight... with Emma and Jake they realise that there is a reason for their extra involvement - their next challenge will be bigger and stronger than anything they have dealt with before.

There are some tense moments when you think it will all be for nought - but somehow Emma has the faith to believe she can and will survive with the help of her friends.

I have enjoyed this trilogy, Ms Rush has a great talent for creating enjoyable YA Paranormal romances that will have you going back and re-reading in the future.

Oh and there's a little bonus Novella when you get to the end ... :D

I have a lot of mixed feelings towards this trilogy. It isn't horrible, but there are a lot of problems that I personally couldn't get past with regarding the overall arching and narrative of this series. My favorite of the trilogy was the second book, Violet Dawn, and my least favorite was the last book in the trilogy, Violet Storm. The novella in here was a nice bonus, but I felt if it had been placed at the front of the box set it would have served more purpose of hooking the reader into the story. Placing it after the trilogy, I already knew this story and had it rehashed several times.

A Hunter Revealed by Lynn Rush

Book 0.5 in the Violet Night Trilogy

2 stars

This prequel novella follows the events of Emma learning she is a Hunter to the death of Gabriel that sets off the events of the trilogy. Like most novellas this can either be great, meh, or forgettable. I didn’t hate this story, but it did absolutely nothing for me. I think it would’ve been a better idea to put this at the beginning that way people can decide if they want to continue on with this box set.

A romantic adventure with something for everyone!

At first glance, Emma and Jake are average college students but as they work together to fight the shadows that lurk in the night they transform into kick-ass vampire hunters. The world as they know it is threatened by unimaginable evil and the only hope they have of winning the fight is to embrace the instant connection they feel towards each other.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Violet Night series. Each book builds upon the last, adding twists and turns to the central plot that creates an exciting blend of adventure, self discovery and romance that appeals to readers of all ages. Lynn Rush has truly mastered the New Adult genre.
