This book was disappointing and easily one of the worst books I've read in a while. It honestly felt like I was reading something on wattpad.
The premise started out good, but it was quickly ruined by the bad writing. Not every single action needs to be described, and in the most elementary way possible at that..
Characterization was not consistent, specifically with the MMC.
Overall, the story seemed really rushed and the only reason I finished this was because it was 130 pages.

Ngl, I'm a bit tired of the abusive ex vs. macho rescuer who likes her cause she's a vulnerable weak woman he can play hero for with insta-ust/ insta-love.
I feel like a 16 year old wrote this to upload to wattpad.

Wynn gets naughty with her Demon neighbor who is assigned to protect her. I honestly thought this was going to be way darker than it was but the MC Onyx is a cinnamon roll (at least to Wynn).

Don't let the cover fool you. This book is bad. Really bad. And it's not dark at all. It's more fluffy than dark, if I'm being honest.
Wynn (human, college student) has an abusive ex so she moves across country. Her new apartment has paper thin walls and she hears her new neighbor, Onyx (demon), having what sounds like wall banging sex. They strike up a convo, she tells him about the ex, he starts teaching her self-defense. Then we discover he's actually a demon and because of a mix up in paperwork, he was accidentally assigned as her guardian angel. It gets stupider from there.
On top of the story being ridiculous, it's filled with so much useless info.

I put the last of my groceries in the fridge and shut the door. A glance at the fruit bowl on the counter showed mouth-watering fruit, so I grabbed an apple then wandered up the hall. The apple made a crisp sound as I bit into it. The fresh taste of the fruit washed over my tongue. I wiped the juice from my chin and continued chewing as I pushed through the door into my bedroom.NOBODY FREAKING CARES!!!!
I walked through the door into the hallway. Onyx locked and shut the door. He jiggled the knob and tested the door to make sure it was locked, then once satisfied he gestured toward the elevator. We walked to the elevator, and he pressed the call button.I suggest skipping this one.

Ok this started out so so well! But then it just became soppy! Like it literally started out with me thinking this is a really good and enjoyable paranormal dark romance. And by the end it felt more like a romcom!!

Eh Boring Not Dark or Spicy
It was ok in concept… trigger warnings literally do not matter this wasn’t dark, this wasn’t even charred, barely supernatural or spicy.
In essence the author had a decent idea but failed to bring it to life. No character growth, no struggle, no world building, no detail. It was all too easy.
Fmc accepts he is a demon, a stranger, torturing people next door like it was nothing. The ex finds her too easily and at the time the author wants to wrap the story but there’s barely struggle it’s all just super easily resolved.
Honestly it was like reading the story boarding without anything fleshed out. It was boring.

FUN!!

The premise is solid but I'm not convinced the author didn't write this entire book by sending themselves tweets. The whole thing reads like it was written with character limitations.

A quick read bringing demons into a better light!
Loved Onyx. He comes into the book mis-assigned to guard his next door neighbour Wynn, who has just escaped her abusive ex. Her guardian angel retired and thus the error.
While waiting, Onyx introduces self defence and gun use to Wynn and then also shows her the supernatural world including himself.
The romance builds up,and the reassignment never seem to gets cleared up....
Meanwhile her ex is slowly tracking her using the same supernatural uses, so it's a matter of time, a matter of Wynns confidence of self defence, and how quickly Onyx can be by her side...
Not a bad read for a one sitting. It's not a scary read by any means. Just shows demons on a good light.,physucally just a shade of grey, red eyes and a tail with powers that's all. Good way to pass an hour! 😉

DNFd at page 59. I just can't.
The writing is so hilariously bad, it kept me reading for a few chapters, but when it got to the spice, it was just getting icky. Yes I DNFd at their first kiss scene, which was cringey.
All the bad reviews are right. The author writes in small, choppy, emotionless sentences, there's tons of useless information, and I'm pretty sure I haven't seen a single exclamation point in all dialogues 😂 The whole story was promising, but it felt like it was written by a horny 12 year old on Watpad.
It felt like reading a robot romance with parts of the relationship build up missing.
Oh and in his real form, HE HAS NO NOSE. Just nope.
2 stars instead of 1 just because I like Lucifer (the show) too.

Apparently, guardian demons teach self-defense and know all the best food spots! Onyx goes above and beyond to protect Wynn, but he also teaches her how to protect herself. I can get behind that. They are fated to be together from page one, and I really enjoyed watching their relationship play out. I feel like Wynn accepted that Onyx was a demon pretty easily, and we missed out on the freak out factor. Despite that, the spice was spicy, and the found family aspect was adorable. I'd love for Osian to get a story because I need to know more about the strong, silent type. This was a unique storyline!

This was a sweet and adorable yet dark and twisted romance that I just loved. It had me giggling, swooning and gasping continually throughout.
I just loved the way that Onyx and Wynn meet and the way that their relationship developed slowly with feelings growing stronger as they got to know each other more.
Wynn had no issues with who Onyx was after his secret was revealed. I think she was more curious about him as a man than anything else.
There was a little bit of spice, some violence and little twists and turns that kept me glued to the pages and devouring every single word.
Highly enjoyable story and can’t wait to read more by this author.

This book could have been sooooooo good but it read like a child wrote it. Every single thing either of the characters did was over explained. I don’t need to know that he pushed the automatic start button on him car, I don’t need a play by play of every step they take. This book is not dark at all and both the main characters are so mid. He’s to nice for a demon and she’s just too ok with everything happening. Like there was a perfect opportunity for a 3rd act breakup and instead the fmc is just ok with it. Iykyk

I am in love with this book!! Absolutely enamored!! Quick read, could not put it down. Demons and other supernatural characters, morally grey MMC, danger, steam. It’s all there.
Wynn’s guardian angel retires after she moves across the country to get away from her ex-boyfriend. She gets a new guardian, but due to a clerical error, she doesn’t get an angel… she gets Onyx, who is a demon. Wynn gets to see firsthand how a demon’s protection varies from an angel’s.
The spice in this book hits just right! This is a darker read (I’d probably call it a medium grey), and there are TW, so check those before reading if you need to. Definite must-read. And after reading this book, I’m ready to dive into the next one in the series!

I really liked how Onyx and Wynn first met. It had me cracking up. Even better was the fact that what we originally believed to have happened didn't. I just really enjoyed the whole story. Short but sweet. Please make sure to still check those triggers.

What happens when you get assigned a guardian demon instead of a guardian angel?
I sure wanted to find out! I still love the story idea, but unfortunately the plot was rather flat and rushed. I know a novella has limited space for depth and details and yet I expected more. I'd rather read about character growth and interesting story development and not about how the FL heats water in the microwave to make tea for almost a page...
The spice level is decent and has some nice ideas at least.

Nach 30/40 Seiten wollte ich abbrechen, da sie literally jedes Detail und jede einzelne Handlung beschrieben hat. Ich konnte das nicht mehr normal lesen. Dann hab ich im Titel gelesen, dass es spicy sein soll und ich dachte, ich lese einfach weiter, da es eh nur 131 Seiten sind. Es wurde auch deutlich besser. Die Storyline find interesting und der Spice ist genau richtig.
Man muss halt so bissl mit “Monster”-Kink umgehen können, denk ich. Oder at least, dass seine Anatomie doch nicht sehr menschlich ist.
Er ist aber so süß zu ihr und obwohl es klischeehaft ist, dass er sie beschützt und er eigentlich nichts Festes will, aber bei ihr schon, wird das nicht zu sehr aufgetragen.
Sie lernt selber zu kämpfen und für die erste Feststellung, dass er nicht so ein long term Typ ist, gibt es ebenso noch eine weitere Erklärung.
Das Buch ist eher fast paced und hat sich doch noch zu einem angenehmen read entwickelt.

Edit: I had to drop a star because I couldn't give it the same as Hooked.
I am being generous with the 2 stars; I gave it an extra star because the idea of the story line was interesting but it was all just so weak. It's a terrible book and badly written. At one point the sentence starts with 1 instead of I. She makes a cup of tea in the microwave. The characters are ridiculous.

This book has darker themes so be aware and be mindful! With that being said, there was a pleasant mix of spice and swoon. This was a short read that had me melting with Onyx as the anti-hero, demon, insta-love. I absolutely loved this one and honestly wish there was more!

Good short book. It starts out good and thought wow, then it got lame. It was like a rom com story. I will say that the author did have a good idea for a story. Who has written a demon guardian.

This book was a fun fast cozy read. I loved onyx he was definitely an interesting character. Wynn and onyx were cute together.
