This has been an excellent series. First, thanks again for the preface to refresh what has already occurred. In this series, not only are elements of misuse of technology, geologic catastrophe and a pandemic all woven together in a believable way, I learned quite a lot. Now I know about Mohorovicic Discontinuity as well as the Libi Nati. I also like how the indigenous people, history and traditions are part of the story and treated in a very respectful way. There were a few very minor editing issues (Viresh being spelled Veresh and back again and retched-tasting instead of wretch-tasting), but they were not a distraction or problem. This final book ends the series in a satisfying way. I very much enjoyed this unusual series.
There are six books in this series and I read them continuously without stopping. It's a unique post apocalyptic story about survival under the most adverse of circumstances: volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, mad scientists and brain altering prions. The characters are slowly but fully evolved and the action, adventure and suspense are nonstop. The backdrop of the Amazon jungle is described so vividly I felt like I had been there. Kudos to Ms Ellis and Mr Kraus for a well written tale to distract from the aftermath of our own real destructive and life changing world virus.
I really enjoyed this series. There wasn't a single book that was not interesting and I really learned a lot about the planet. The final book was excellent and did a good job of wrapping everything up. I especially liked that this was a thinking person's story grounded in science. From volcanology to virology to world geography and Earth Science I was always eagerly learning while reading this series. The speed at which I read the almost 1300 pages in the series shows how much I enjoyed it.
Remained gripping right to the very end. Some very tense moments when you weren't sure if everyone was going to make it through. Thank you for another great story!
I've read apocalyptic stories over many years, but this series of books is the first ELE series. I found it amazing. Ellis and Kraus make an exceptional writing team. From the start with the drilling through the thin crust in the far Pacific, or near Indian Ocean, to the conspiracy to corner the world energy market, all the way through to the end and all of the spoilers I won't divulge, this is an astounding series.
How will all this end in the last book. Explosions and more danger to come. There’s no way to stop reading until you find out the end. This book draws you in and keeps you there , wishing there was more.
I'm a picky reader, even going so far as to Google anything in the book that I don't already know and look at maps of the area where the story takes place. One example? There really is a resort in Suriname surrounded by jungle and smiling faces. It's paradise with exotic food and a river nearby.
Authors who impress me are those who go the extra mile, not only telling the story in an interesting way, but making you feel as if you were part of the whole event.
This series did that and now I've spent a entire week staying up late at night reading. I couldn't put them down! Thank you both for the hard work in writing this series. We appreciate you.
I don't want it to end! This was the final book in the series. It wrapped up all the loose ends. While there were things I expected to happen, there were some that I didn't see coming. This was such a good series. I think anyone interested in the "end of the world" genre will love this series.
Earthquakes, underwater volcanoes erupting, part of the sea floor collapsing is causing catastrophic damage throughout the world. But the worse part is it has released a damaging and deadly disease. An ancient prion disease has been loosed onto the world. Can they find the cure in time? Does the Amazon rain forest hold the secret cure? Let’s hope so.
Fantastic end to an amazing series. Yet again, Mike Kraus - together with Tara Ellis - has written a wonderful apocalyptic/post apocalyptic series that had me on the edge of my seat, unable to put the book down! Generally well written, excellent characterisation and scenarios make these books extremely readable. Keep up the good work!
Wow! I’ve devoured this series. Perhaps it’s because of the current pandemic in our world that it all feels so possible! The suspense, the characters, the setting all come alive in this great end to the Extinction series. Go get it, all of it!
Brilliant, fantastic, from mid pacific, Madagascar, Seattle Washington state, too Suriname near the Amazon. They searched for a cure, for a disease released into the atmosphere. Prions. Millions dead, throughout the world. The cure was found.
I have been looking forward to each new book in the set. The plot kept getting better and better with each book. It had good character development and interesting twists to it.
This series was great. I loved story line and the characters. I just wish there were more books to this series. I want to read what the characters will be doing to find more survivors.
Finished the 6 book Surviving Extinction series. Wow what rush. Learned some things about diseases I didn’t know. These books take you to the end of civilization but bring you back in with hope for the future. Great reads. Big D
This is one of the better series of books I’ve read this year. I felt that the characters were real and I enjoyed getting to know them all. I loved how it ended.
Tara Ellis and Mike Kraus conclude the tense global fight for survival, in Book 6 of The Extinction Series, Surviving Extinction.
Jess hopes to get permission from the native Lokono people to use the Libi Prani plants, to provide a global vaccine or cure. Devon, Tyler, Jason and Peta are also there, as are locals, Captain Akuba and Viresh. What is Tan Presi Rutu? Why is the 'Bergi-Olo' cave so special? What threat do Davies and Schaefer pose to the Lokono and their heritage? Is there any hope of recovery from man's betrayal of Nature - and her violent response?
Attack and defence, plans and impetuous response, questions for the future - will teamwork, heroism, sacrifice and integrity save Peta, Jason, Eddy, Jess and the others, from the craziness of the Kra Puru and its effects on already flawed/disturbed and wounded individuals? Who will survive the horrors and help those in dire need going forward?
Tara Ellis and Mike Kraus' epic thriller, Surviving Extinction, has all the making of a great movie plotline - and is a salutary lesson for all that should be compulsory reading in these troubled times.

This whole read consisted of six amazing books, each one better than the last. Could we have end of days, why not,we are living in crazy times with so called leaders looking after themselves with corporate greed so who knows how bad it will get but these books make you think. Thank you to Tara and Mike
I read this book in two days, I couldn't put it down. Had the best ending you could imagine. I actually shed a few tears along the way. One of the best series of books that I have ever read. I recommend reading this to all.
I loved this book and I loved the series. I don't necessarily think that any one of the books stands out as better than the others, they've all played their part in the storytelling. A brilliant book and I recommend it.
In the final instalment of the Extinction series Peta’s group have made it to Suriname but now they face the wrath of not only the Amazon Jungle but Dr Davis and the Cured.
The groups of survivors path intersects with Jessica’s at the preserve and now Jessica must help the group connect with the Lokono and a possible cure for the destruction that is happening to mankind.
They now face adversaries both seen and unseen as well as demons they have all tried to bury but what they don’t know is that they were not the only ones making their way to Suriname, Mads who they thought was dead has joined Jessica’s dad and as she gets closer to the Libi Nati her morality starts to be exposed.
