Brogan lives in Ireland with her husband and their eleven furry children: five furry minions of darkness (aka the cats), four hellhounds (the dogs), and two traditional unicorns (fat, hairy Irish cobs).
In 2019 she embraced her craziness by writing about the imaginary people that live in her head. Her first love is her husband followed by her number-one favourite furry child Bob the cob, then reading. When not reading or writing, she can be found knee-deep in horse poo and fur while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.
This series was absolutely fantastic… Until it wasn't. I love the first three books. It was so much fun to read and I enjoyed myself a lot! I put individual reviews each book
The last book is awful! Everything is resolved way too easily and has nothing to do with anything else in the series. It was so disappointing
And there were weaknesses throughout the entire series where there's a lot of repetitiveness in what the heroines do. Somehow they are all too good for words. They also selfless and loving. And kick ass!
Don't give me wrong. I absolutely love this until 20% into the fourth book. Thankfully I read spinoff series 1st so I know that I will enjoy that. Highly recommend never reading the fourth book. Had nothing to offer to the rest of the series and it was so disappointing.
Amazing series. For me each book gets better and better and I am always picking my new favorite. I love that all the books are together and even though I don't buy physical books I will be buying myself a copy.
Creatures of the Otherworld is a box set of stand-alone books with crossover characters but original storylines and new female MC’s all with dark hardships and trials that mold them into the badass heroines they will become. Totally epic and I loved each and every book! Forest, Emma, Tru and Tuesday are all exceptional hybrids of one fashion or another that spend a great board of their lives believing they have no magic m. Due to life threatening circumstances and sometimes unbearable hardships they endure, survive and thrive showing epic baddassery in the process and against almost impossible odds. I honestly can’t recommend it enough. I laughed so hard I cried. I also just cried at some of the injustice of what happens to them. And I marvel as the stories weaved together and well they were perfectly wonderful with endearing characters that simply cannot be ignored. I hope to see so much more of this world and these heroine’s as there is undoubtedly more to learn about them. Get it binge it and love it !!! You won’t be disappointed!
There are certain books that I'll release from my library immediately upon finishing it and those that I might let stick around for a little while. This one falls in the latter. The leading lady in each story was likable and had you rooting for them (and a sidekick or two). You got sassy, clever, tough, loyal, and funny to name just some of the characteristics that are specific to each woman. The one thing they do all share is a troubled/tragic past that makes them moreover the better to handle their uniqueness. Lucky for me, I read these last month and a new book (but continuing storyline, kinda) will be released later this month!
* I received a free copy of this book with the agreement that I would leave an honest review.
In this the first 4 of the Creatures of the Otherworld we come across women who have been treated not as equals but as something people walk on, but they come through it. They may be wolves, witches, unicorns 🦄 but they end up being powerful. There is happiness, tears of joy and sadness in these pages. Brogan makes this world come alive, she is the heartbeat of Otherworld. I've two books left to read in this series. They're very good if you like this genre. They're set in the UK. Clean romance. Humour, happiness and sadness await. Highly recommended.
The first ine was in my TBR, and someone recommended it. So I read it and immediately had to read the rest. I loved them all. The FMCs go through some pretty awful things, but they never give up. I'm glad that I read them all in a row because she has some recurring places and characters, and it was an extra pleasure to recognize them. I especially like how other chatacters view Forrest so differently from the first book to the last. She has other books in this world and I plan to read them all!
Adding in books I'd read some time ago from KU. I read a few of Brogan Thomas' books a couple of months ago, and I only remember the second book, Cursed Demon, clearly. That was quite fun, although their relationship was traumatic enough that I really question how healthy their romance is lol. But anyway, I will be keeping a lookout for Brogan Thomas' other books.
This book is a collection of loosely interwoven stand-alone tales. Each one is wonderful in its own way, and I love the little glimpses of characters from previous stories as they drift into the world of the next protagonist. The characters are all so individual and believable, the stories rich and compulsively readable. I listened to the audiobook, perfectly narrated by Poppy Royana. This is a great book for someone who doesn't want to fall face-first into a series, but wants a taste of a magical world and the satisfaction of a completely resolved story in each book in the collection.
I love this book, all four of them, they are connected and make much more sense when read in order. I had actually read book 4 before, so downloaded one to four as set and then it made so much more sense. All four are connected and a wonderful tapestry of girls who are more powerful than they know, who find their soul mates and it takes a while for the mates to actually settle with them since they are all older and start of dismissive. It's fun and full of love, magic and hope, but with pasts of pain and despair that the strong women overcome.
This is the second time I have listened to this Series. Once yrs ago and again this past week, and I just adored this even more the second time around. All 4 books are separate and interconnected in that all the people and creatures are living in the same town at the same time. Narrator once again does a Wonderful job with the various characters voices and the Entire Storyline!!! I Highly recommend this Boxed set.
Originally got the first one on kindle unlimited and was blown away at how good it was and how much I enjoyed it. It was a no brainer to get the others. They were equally well crafted so I bought the omnibus edition for myself. Sections of each one have made me well up, made me smile and made me want to cheer as each strong female character finds their voice and their strength to cope with their experiences. Give these a try. I think you will enjoy them.
I came across these books from seeing reviews by other authors I read and thought I'd check them out, I was not expecting to binge them one after the other! I love how each story stands on its own and how they have guest appearances from characters from the other books. Each one had me laughing at times and agreeing with the choices that were made. They are such a good read that you will not be disappointed reading these, and each one just make you want more.
I did not know this author but what a find! Four books too. Four different women who didn't recognise their own strength. Characters slowly developed, books linked well, great imagination. Story lines made sense and skilfully interwoven with side stories and the other books. What's not to like! Focus on characters and stories not relying on gratuitous sex or violence.
Magic, mayhem and strong female characters that raise themselves from being trapped in lives they're not happy with was a great adventure. I really enjoyed the first four books in this series, and loved that the books were stand alones, but have some recurring characters and are loosely connected by some events.
These books are set in the UK and introduce you to a world where magic is common as are various shifters, witches, far and vampires. Lots of kick ass heroines, intrigues and furbabies. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author, it's great when you discover a new back catalogue 😁
I actually love these characters. Wasn't too sure but each book pulls you in. Each story has to do with a character from a previous book. I don't think toy need to read all of them but I enjoyed it that way as the first book basically introduced them all. Will definitely be reading more of the series
Really liked the idea in these books. The characters are well written and relatable. Each one can read read alone, but if you follow the order it enriches the experience. Definitely worth it.
Quirky, funny, and just plain fun. The characters are interesting and complex with human like characterics and a mix of insecurities thrown in. They are likeable and relatable.
Love these books by Brogan Thomas. The characters are fantastic, well thought out. The action is non stop and the moments of levity are are great break from the intense fear of monsters and mothers. Lol Tru is my favorite cause I want to be a badass Unicorn!
These books have very strong female characters who undergo significant trauma but emerge stronger and better with a mate who cherishes them and supports them. I think some of the trauma could have been less intense, but I like the happy endings
From the start of reading these books I was hooked. I recommend this to anyone who wants to travel through a fantasy world and get lost in it and leave the real world at bay for a while.
Creatures of the Otherworld (Books 1-4) by Brogan Thomas
Excellent with fantastic imagination fast pased, and wonderful characters. Wow girl power. A really good book, with paths for an excellent series.Gary Challenger from Devon UK.
Absolutely loved this book she's a girl her whole family are witches her dad's a big wig but her nope her magic doesn't work she's broken s g e moves away from home when she's 18 Tuesday is happy and away from her mother who is nasty until things change
I really liked the world building. Each book is a stand-alone, but some of the characters cross over. I would like more interaction between the characters in the previous books. Fun read.
This series is a great read. Follows the characters into the next book but leads with new leading characters for each, you get a little insight too how the previous lead characters are doing, without overloading them. Love the detail.Thank you for a great read.
I have been thoroughly entertained by this set of 4 urban fantasy novels and can't wait to read more from this author. Snarky female leads, great plots and world building what's not to love.
Child torture. Kidnapping. Misogynistic ranks and violent sexual assaults. In the first few chapters. Really dark. Really grim. Not at all as advertised
