This remains a cute series, but the plot and dialogue are getting really bland. There is more about food in this one, and there's even a recipe. If you like that kind of thing, then you might like this volume better than I did

I'm a bit torn about this volume. This book starts directly where the previous one ended. Aoi and Mei are starting their bicycle journey while Aki and Miss Toba are already chilling at the campsite. What I appreciate the most of the biking tour is how Aoi and Mei are bonding over time. Especially after they failed to complete their route, Mei gets determined and wants to finish their tour at the next day. I like that Mei who seeked for a passion is really into her new hobby and wants to pursue it. Although she has concern at the second day if it was a good idea, Aoi is motivating her (and herself) to finish their tour which they did. It's not portrait as spectacular as it might sound but I still liked this part. However I have to admit some parts of their tour weren't that exciting and Aki and Miss Tobas conversations about TV shows and butter cookies weren't that catching either especially because of how much time it consumed... At least the hotdogs they made looked good.
Meanwhile there is Rin on her own again but the story isn't focusing that much on the locations she's visiting. Instead on her journey she is reminded of her roller trip with Ayano and wants to go on another trip with her which I'm really excited about. (Hopefully Nadeshiko isn't finding that out or Rin is in big trouble for betraying her gf lol)
Ehm.. Anyway to be more serious again I also liked how Rin and Ema are getting along with their shared love for dogs. Especially trough their calm personalities they're creating a really relaxing atmosphere while Ema is asking Rin what is so special about camping. I'm curious how Ema will develop interests in camping in the upcoming books. I hope we see more of Rin and Ema together in the future.

But there were some shocking news at the end.. Rin wants to cut her hair.... The iconic bun is in danger. Because of the movie and a special chapter I already know the day will come eventually but I'm actually sad it's happening probably in the next book...

Still a solid book but I not that strong than the previous ones.

Rin is on her latest solo camping trip, and meanwhile 3 of the OEC members and their teacher sponsor are headed somewhere else. Aki and their teacher set up camp and have a Western TV drama marathon while taste testing various butter cookies (something their teacher has gotten addicted to as she’s tried to cut down on alcohol). Inuko and Mei decide to take the tougher route to the campsite and bike there…which goes well until they hit the final mountain. After this weekend the OEC members start working on applying for official club status and figuring out what to do during Golden Week.

Another relaxing time escaping into nature with the OEC girls. I just love the artwork in this series, and there’s something calming and wholesome reading about teen girls who want to get out into nature. There’s nothing super driving about the stories, but I still find it hard to put down.

Notes on content:
Language: None
Sexual content: None
Violence: None
Ethnic diversity: All the characters are Japanese.
LGBTQ+ content: None specified.
Other: Aki notices their teacher has cut back on alcohol (though she does consume one alcoholic beverage) and talks to her about the cutback.

A split group camping trip. While Aki and the teacher are driving to the campsite, Aoi and Mei are biking the whole way. Meanwhile, Rin is off on another solo adventure.

And once again really want to get a bike and go solo camping… it looks so fun but there’s not nearly enough infrastructure where I live to be able to. Campsites are dominated by camper vans and there’s no bike lanes, plus everything is spread out while simultaneously commercially dense. Instead of seeing all the Charikuma, we’d be visiting 50 Dollar Generals.

Reading this always makes me want to go camping. This volume actually makes me want to go cycling instead with the big focus on the biking portion. Although I'd definitely want a dedicated biking path like they take for a good part of the journey here. I prefer not getting run over by trucks and suvs, thanks.

Most of the story is all about Inuko and Mei first bicycle trip and it's also a first camping trip for Mei, the rest is a mix of Rin's solo camping and school life before golden week.
Lots of fun time, lots of yummy recipes and lots of eating.
Overall it's a fun time read, definitely my go-to cosy manga, love getting to know more about Mei and Ema the new members of the club.

What's with all the Mega Man references? I mean, they're funny. But why?
