Set in darkest South Oxfordshire, this is a great story that traverses the genres of adventure and gothic magic, with suspense thrown in for good measure. I read it as a story for teenagers but also really enjoyed it myself. The author doesn’t hold back on rich vocabulary in his descriptions, so it’s a great read for all ages. And the cat - what a wonderful creation!!

A great book to read aloud and get immersed in with children, but also an enjoyable read for adults who like a bit of escapism! Engaging and well written - would thoroughly recommend.
