More than two decades ago, she was mine. Then I lost her heart, but not her friendship.
Now Tessa's husband, one of the greatest men I ever knew, is gone, having sacrificed his life for their daughter. And my wife is a cheating whore, but I won't let her run off into the sunset with her senator just yet. She still has a few more months to be a mother to our son before he graduates.
But Tessa ... I know her. She wants to show her grown children that she’s okay —hell, she always pretended to be all right when she wasn't— that even after a devastating loss, life can go on.
Watching her grieve silently was something I did in the past, but I won't do it again.
Never again.
Because I fear if I can't get her to truly grieve, we all might lose her. And I can't live in a world without Tessa.

I am a true romantic. When I think a fictional couple should end up together, it's hard to get the reality of it out of my mind if they don't. This was my dilemma with MJ Fields' Love Series. Four books about college sweethearts, Tessa and Lucas and no HEA for them. So I passed on reading the series. When I found out that Love You Anyways was coming out and it looked like maybe, possibly, my happy ending for Tessa and Lucas might just be happening, I did a speed read of the four books in the Love series and a quick read of the Burning Souls series. I am planning on going back and doing a much more leisurely read, they were excellent and I don't want to miss a delicious word!
To catch you up to speed, at the end of book #4, True Love, Tessa married Collin. A man she truly loved; not as a revenge marriage or a means to an end to hurt Lucas. Real, true love with a man that didn't constantly cheat on her, or treat her like crap. It broke my heart, somehow I kept hoping that Lucas would redeem himself at the 11th hour and they would end up together. Wrong. Tessa and Collin married, and had 3 children. Harper, their daughter, is the main character of the Burning Souls series, along with rockstar Maddox Hines (which is a great series by the way). Tessa and Lucas are still secondary characters in that series. Lucas married Ashley at the end of True Love, a woman he felt he could be happy with, even if she wasn't Tessa.
Lucas has 2 children with his wife; a daughter Ava (who is Harper's best friend, and a son Logan, a senior in high school. His wife of 20 years, Ashley, has been cheating on him for the last 5 years with a douchebag senator. Guess who she blames for her infidelity? Yep, it's Lucas' fault, because she feels he has always loved Tessa and he is to blame for her feelings of being second best. Ashley is the only woman he hasn't cheated on. All he wants is to have his son graduate and then he will end his marriage.
Tessa's life has been totally uprooted. Her husband, Collin, was killed while trying to protect his daughter by a real nut job. She is mourning the loss of her 20 year marriage. Lucas came to respect her husband, and knows she is hurting. Could this be their time?
If Tessa hadn't have left Lucas that last final time, I don't think he would have become the man he eventually became. He made vows to be faithful and he kept them. LYA is told mostly in his POV, and what a hoot that is! He is arrogant, and funny and at times, and vulnerable. He admits to himself that he has never gotten over Tessa, but he would have stayed in his marriage had his wife remained faithful. She didn't and he is not going to lose Tessa a second time.
Just as in life, when we mourn a loss, it is a gradual process. As much as Tessa may have always had feelings for Lucas, she loved her husband and is at a loss as to how to go on. Slowly, she lets Lucas back into her life and eventually into her heart. There is a "Come to Jesus" moment for her that makes her realize how time is precious and maybe this is their chance and she had better not let this one go. She is more aware than most, how life can end in the blink of an eye.
I adored this book, it made all the other books of this series that much sweeter. Sometimes the clouds have to come before you can appreciate the sun. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy my sunny day!
#LucasAndTessaSoulMatesForLife. Ok were do I start this book was so brilliantly written I knew I would fall into there world as if I was in the story watching from a far. Yes I'm obsessed with MJ's characters in all her books to me there all Real it's like I feel raw Emotion for each Character and what they go though. Lucas was not a favorite when he hurt Tessa over and over in the past , but my faith and heart fell so in love with him in this beautiful love story of Two people so right for each other just not the right time back when there were younger . I never thought Tessa would ever trust Lucas again but people change and the love Lucas had for Tessa never died!!! This love story is about letting go but never forgetting #Collin but moving forward to a life of Love Again,Family,Incredible friends and the one that never ever left your mind no matter were your life went. *** 1000*** stars for the perfect #LYA MJ you our so incredibly talented.xoxo
It seems like I have waited forever For a HEA for Lucas Links. MJ Fields doesn't disappoint in this book. LYA takes place 20 plus years after the last book in the love series and if you read the burning souls series then it is an immediate continuation.
Lucas is still a pompous arrogant ass but with a softer side in this book. He stole my heart even more if that is possible. Tessa has been through heart ache and is trying to piece her life back together. There are ups and down, heart ache, loss and pain that these two go through in this book. There were times when I thought "OH GOD please let them find their way"!! I shed many tears from start to finish through Tessa and Lucas's story and to finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief and know all is right in my fictional word is amazing. This book was a perfect ending to an amazing series and I thank MJ for bring these characters into my life and continuing to let me read about them through out her other works of art. <3 <3 <3
I miss Collin so much in this. I'm so sad about him. I didn't read the other series about Harper but I will now because I feel like I'm missing a lot. Collin's letters!!!! Omg, I was sobbing. You just don't get better than him. Lucas is better behaved in this. I still don't know if I'd trust him. I can't stand Lucas' ex but I'm glad he gets to know what it feels like, good. I know that sounds bitter but hey, maybe I am. He deserves it. The kids don't though, but they seem really smart though and will see the situation for what it is. I can't believe his father! What an asshole, and he was still cheating on his wife at his age? Scumbag. I really hope that Lucas will do right by Tessa this time around.

The Love Series by MJ Fields is one of my all time favorite! My heart broke for Lucas Links in the first four books. Although he could make me very mad at times. I wanted nothing more then a HEA for him and Tessa but that of course was not what happened when book four ended. Love You Anyways takes place 20 years later. It seemed like I had waited so long for this book. And boy was the wait worth it! MJ Fields gives me everything thing I could possibly want for this book. It was so beautifully written. The build up to them getting back together was perfect. Lucas and Tessa were each others first loves in High School. Now years later fate brings them back together and it could not have been more perfect. This book is a perfect conclusion to Lucas and Tessa's story. Loved it! Thank MJ Fields for another amazing story.
Anyone who knows me knows Lucas and I have had an up and down relationship...alright mostly down but shockingly the boy surprised me and has somehow wormed his way into my good graces (*gasps*). I know guys who would have thought! I mean Ashley is just a cold hearted bit**, "then I heard my wife say. "Your husband is lucky to be dead so he doesn't have to watch you and my husband play grab a** for another...." I mean Lucas he's still a sexually active boy that is never gonna change but he's mainly doing the nasty with Tessa (*gasps again*) and this had made me extremely happy, "I pulled her pants down without a fight. "For someone saying no do you care to explain the lack of underpants?" I spread her legs wide and dropped to my knees." And there's this teasing side I loved about him as well, "how long are you gonna make me be your little boy toy baby?" I'm glad that two people that I loved/hated found happiness.
Resenha em português e inglês / Review in Portuguese and English
Uau! Altamente recomendado!

Wow! What to say about this book ... reading was great and the characters were being built along the previous series. They were teenagers and immature and turned into wonderful adults. It was wonderful to accompany their journey and the construction of a truly eternal love. Congratulations to the author presented us with this jewel. Do not read this book without reading the series "Love" which tells the story of the couple from the beginning. Highly recommended!!!
GREAT ending to an amazing series. MJ hit a home run again..
I have spent countless hours waiting for This book. Finally Lucas and Tessa will get a chance at making things right and a HEA after 20 plus years. In LYA we get to see a softer, wiser, more mature Lucas but don't worry ladies he is still the pompous, arrogant jackass we all LOVE. Tessa has entered her own hell and is trying to escape and rebuild herself and her life. There were times throughout this book where I was so sure Tessa wasn't going to let Lucas back in and then Lucas laid claim to his woman. I cried knowing this series is over but I smile cause knowing MJ this isn't the last we will see of them. I couldn't have though of a more perfect way to end this series. MJ you have created characters that have embedded themselves into my heart and will stay there forever. Thank you for them and your books.
Lucas and Tessa are hands down my favorite couple. MJ Fields did a fantastic job at making them as real as possible. Although I am so sad to have their story come to an end, I'm so happy with how it ended. I loved how we got to really watch them grow and make mistakes, even though as a reader some of those mistakes just ripped my heart out. What MJ was able to capture and convey for me is going through the ugly parts of life is what makes the beautiful parts so much more special. I HIGHLY recommend reading the Wrapped and Burning Souls series also to get the WHOLE story of Lucas and Tessa and Colin!!! They are fantastic stories as well!!! Thank you MJ Fields for these characters and their stories!!!!!
I know most people wanted Lucas and Tessa to always be a couple. For me he was the worst thing that could happen to her. She had finally found the perfect guy for her and then the author goes and kills him off just so she can bring them back together. So disappointed!!! Lucas is still just an over grown boy who pouts when he doesn't get his way. I was so glad that Ashley screwed him over. Now he knows how it feels after he didn't it to pretty much anyone he came in contact with. It took me a long time to decide to read this book and I can't say after over a year that my opinion of Lucas has changed. Sadly, Tessa didn't mourn for the husband she claimed to love so dearly before she was jumping right into bed with Lucas.
SPOILER ALERT I am so sad that Collin died... but I am glad that Tessa and Lucas finally got their happy story. Sad that Lucas changed and was still cheated on by Ashley. Although hmm karma sucks. I hope there are more stories on Logan, Ava, Luke & the other kids! Love these characters and their families!
4 star Review Love You Anyway: Our Second Chance At Love by M.J. Fields
Love Anyway was an emotional roller coaster of a read that will draw you in and keep you invested from the first chapter. There were moments that had me catching my breath, moments were I cried and moments where I smiled.
This book will certainly pull emotions out of you as have the other books about this couple. So much has happened to Tessa Ross-Abraham and Lucas Links over the last couple of decades and now it’s finally their time.
Lucas is reeling after discovering that his wife Ashley has been having an affair for a number of years.Tessa’s husband has been murdered and through it all they have remained in one another life.
After reading the previous books I never really thought that Tessa and Lucas would come back to one another and yet here we are. Their lives have not been easy, with so many ups and down, but now after all this time could it be “their time”?
I really disliked Lucas in the early books but in this book I finally see what Tessa saw in him all those years ago. A fitting conclusion to their love story.
Tessa and Lucas f*** me up. I cried so much throughout this series. Fields does love and turmoil so damn well. This series, though, is by far the most emotional. Definitely a series to reread every year, or any time you need a cathartic cry and need help getting it out.
Let me start by saying I HATE LUCAS. I have hated him from the start of this series. The first three books were annoying, I enjoyed the fourth book the most. Then came Love You Anyways I still hate Lucas, he is self centered, egotistical and a bully when it comes to Tessa. He thinks the world revolves around him, except when it comes to his kids. Tessa suffers a great loss and Lucas just won't give time to grieve and heal. Mean while you got poor Tessa trying to heal and has mixed up emotions. In some areas Lucas has grown up and other areas not so much. M.J. Fields made me laugh, cry and want to punch something. Even with all this I was still entertained with this book. M.J. Fields did the series justice with this book. In my opinion it was a great conclusion to the series. If you have read the first four books then in my opinion you should read this book.
If you are a fan of The Blue Valley Series, this is one of the books that everyone wanted.
Throughout the series we’ve seen the tragic events that Tessa and Lucas went through in their younger years. We also see the grown-up Tessa & Lucas. This is a friendship that kept them in each other’s lives.
When unspeakable tragedy strikes, the love that these two characters have always had for each other grows.
5 second chance stars! The journey for Tessa and Lucas wasn’t easy. I love the growth with these characters, especially Lucas (if you know you know). This is finally their HEA. Such a heartwarming ending to a heartbreaking story.
“I can’t help myself. Because our time is now. Accept it or not. I have loved you through every part of my life.”
So many feels in this book. I laughed, cried, and got mad at some characters. We see Lucas as a completely different man compared to who he was in Blue Valley series. He is now a man who Tessa always knew he could be and wanted to be. He shows Tessa how much he has changed. He promises her he’ll never hurt her again. Tessa is still grieving the loss of Collin. But Collin wrote her letters to love again, be happy, smile, live forward and not in the past. But she feels that going back to Lucas is betraying her love for Collin. Until she reads a letter from Collin to Lucas. Find out if Lucas and Tessa can truly move forward and live happily ever after.
MJ Fields is an amazing author!! She has taken us on such a journey with Lucas and Tessa. These character's are forever in my heart & soul. I couldn't have been happier with this book!!! This was a perfect ending to Lucas and Tessa's story. Well I'm sure it's not really the end because MJ will bring them back in other series. And that what I so Love about author MJ Fields, we get lot's and lot's of the characters we love. Thanks MJ for an amazing story!!!
I knew several books back what the author was going to do but I kept hoping that I would be wrong. For me this book showed me how little Tessa really loved Collin. As for Ashley the way she did what she did was wrong but she was not dumb she knew that she was second best for Lucas and I'm glad that she did get a HEA.I have seen all the great reviews and I am happy that others liked it.
I have been with Tessa and Lucas since the beginning. This book, this storyline is beautiful and emotional. I love MJ Fields style of writing! Her books are raw and the readers become invested in her main characters. The only thing that would have completed them was a baby ❤️
I realize I'm in the minority with this review and I'm okay with it.
I am really not a fan of Lucas, never have been and this book didn't redeem him at all. Not a huge fan of Tessa either. I'm sorry, your husband of 20 years who you claim you love with all your heart dies and 2 months later your jumping your ex boyfriend. And does Lucas respect that maybe this is difficult for her, nope he just pushes her and pushes her to get what you want. I'm sorry, I can't image how you can quickly get over someone you've been married to, built a life with, had kids with that quickly. I know MJ was looking to give these 2 their HEA, fine but at least be somewhat realistic about it.
I lost my father when he was fairly young and I can 100000% say I would not be okay with my mother dating 3 months or 4 months later. No matter if my father wanted her to be happy or not. I would need time to mourn and process and realize what my new life would look like. That wouldn't be happening if my mother was getting married a year later.
All around, not a fan AT ALL with this story, the disservice it does to Collin and how disrespectful it felt to Tessa's marriage to Collin.
But again, that's just my opinion and I know I'm in the minority.
Lucas and Tessa are finally together. She was his only love. But as her father once said God gave her a heart big enough for two great loves. Her love for Collin was perfect. Had he not been killed they would have never parted. Never did she doubt or question her love for him. But fate had other plans for her. Lucas may have been in her past, but they also shared a special love. He never forgot that love but it wasn’t the right time years ago. Her destiny was with Collin, her forever with Lucas was “not yet.” Never did Lucas try to come between Collin and Tessa’s marriage. Instead he and Collin even became friends. He married Ashley and never once cheated on her. He tried to make it work. Now that Collin has died fate once again steps in. Although it kills Lucas he realizes that he must give her time to grieve and come to terms with the death of Collin. But he also makes sure she knows how much he loves her and in time will make her his. Finally Lucas and Tessa are together. A love that has never died. Although she was with Collin for a time, Lucas and Tessa’s “not yet” is finally here.
And.....it only took five books to make it happen. One thing the author’s writing has improved tremendously. This was a vast improvement over previous installments of this series. I knew Collin was going to die. That was a no brainer because the forecasting Force in the last book was strong like a Jedi Knight. I did appreciate the author’s send off for Collin and the maturity Lucas now has. It’s a wonderful improvement for his character and he gets his just dose of Karma. That made it better. Apparently, there must be other books in this saga that explain some of the things that happen in this book. It did make the story hard to follow from the last book, but because twenty years have passed since then I am sort of okay with that. Of course, there is one more book in this series. So there is more, but at least I don’t feel like I am slogging. 4 Stars ....because I am so happy with improvement of this author’s writing and Lucas’ maturity and just rewards.
Holy heck this book will leave you not only wanting more but maybe even a little emotional. Lucas and Tessa have had a tremulous relationship. After years their families are the best of friends. They are both married with children and their daughters are best friends. When Lucas finds out what his wife has done he will do whatever he can to make sure it doesn't hit his kids. They are his life and he thought she was too. What's worse is when tragedy strikes their friends in the worst ways. Now they are all picking up the pieces. Tessa never thought she would have this heartache, but for her kids, she will fight. These two have a past they need to come to terms with, a love that lasts a lifetime, and a family they will protect at all costs. What happens though when that might now be enough? MJ delivers one heck of an emotional rollercoaster, but so dang worth it.
This was the perfect ending to the series - it felt like everyone had their happily ever after and that everything was resolved, happy and ready to embrace the future. I loved the way that the author tied it all up and for me this was the best book of the entire series! I loved the characters, the plot and the way in which the entire series wrapped up. This book will make you laugh, cry, yell and at times want to re-write it yourself, but in the end you will love it. There are still the few random typos, misspellings, and wrong words, but the editing is much improved in this one. This series is well worth the read, so don't hesitate to grab it today!
I wasn’t ready to say good bye to Colin so quickly after True love. Tessa didnt deserve him! Her problem remained not loving the boy in her life the way he wanted. And there’s no time spent mourning Colin, the whole group while waiting for Tessa and family to return after Colin’s death is literally gathered and cranking up old rock songs and laughing around! Dude!!
And I am only 25% in but as always Lucas has no chill! I hope Ashley had fun while having her affair coz Lucas deserved to be dragged through the mud.
This latest installment in this series was a pretty good read. After following Tessa and Lucas through the ups and downs of the last four books of this series it was nice to finally see the HEA for this pair. This was a well written book that I enjoyed from start to finish and would recommend this series and this book to others.
The perfect ending to this series. I absolutely loved the whole book, even if at times I could have slapped either Lucas or Tessa. The book wrapped up the whole series very nicely and we weren't left with any questions. It will make you cry, laugh and want to smack someone, but in the end, you will love it all.
What an epic ending to Tessa and Lucas love story. What a fucking epic finale. I loved it. I won't lie, I did expect a little bit more and a few things were slightly off for me but whatever... Finally Happily Ever!!!
I'm so obsessed I've already finished Ava and Lukes story. All these side characters are amazing. I'm loving it so much.
