- Millions died the day the world ended. History will say, they were the lucky ones. -
Reality ended on a Thursday, right about lunchtime, when some over-inflated lunatic jumpstarted the apocalypse.
As far as Sabashton was concerned that would've been fine, he was probably going to fail his mid-terms anyway.
Then, instead of dying along with everyone else, he wakes up in the magical game world of Infinity. He's pretty sure he's not crazy, or dead, but he's the only one from Earth who even remembers what happened now.
Getting dropped into a suped-up, magic avatar with epic powers is great, sure, but keeping the all-powerful Corruptor from enslaving humanity is a tall order. Ash will need all the spells, skills, and friends he can find.
He might not have signed up for this apocalyptic thrill ride, but somebody has to save the damn world. Join the irreverent adventure as Ash and his allies explore a virtual universe filled with magic, mayhem, and no shortage of mishaps across an ever-expanding world.
This series contains LitRPG elements such as character progression and statistics, as well as some base building elements. Adult language. No explicit sexual content or harems.
I really enjoyed this fresh take on the litrpg genre. The premise is solid and the fight scenes hold attention. That said, there are a couple drawbacks, but not enough to prevent enjoying the book. Most obvious is the cringy romance. It feels teenage level and doesn't add. Second is the trope where there is a loud angry female love interest who bullies the mousey MC. Last, and this one came the closest to making me stop reading is the prisoner and torture trope. I get it, sometimes a MC gets captured. But if the prison is so secure that h the MC can't escape, then use something like a prisoner swap to get him out. Prisoners are less likely to escape the longer they are imprisoned. Especially when there is severe torture involved. Despite the hiccups, I still solidly recommend this book. Thank you to the author, and I hope they continue the series.
This is a very different RPG story from others I have read previously. MC (Sebastián) though is whole bunch childish and immature, but his Lady Friend is a real hoot!! Narrator does an amazing job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline. There are some writing inconsistencies that need to be addressed. Just one is during a scene where Sebastián is tied to the back of a horse, he wakes up looking at the horses dong. Later they talk about him grabbing the horse he was tied to as a mare. Wish book 2 was already available in Audible.
I don't even know where to begin raving about this book! The plot was amazing, and I got pulled into the story quickly. The book moved at a steady pace, so you didn't get bored, and the story progressed seamlessly. It was easy to get wrapped up for hours. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a unique story line, and cannot wait for this story to continue.
Pretty great intro story. Definitely a little cliche but the story recognizes that itself and makes fun of itself while still creating a dramatic atmosphere that pulls you in. MC is definitely likable and relatable.
As the title says this is a review for Kindle Unlimited and as such is a reflection of my enjoyment of the book and in no way reflects cost to value analysis.
I enjoyed this on the whole. It has an interesting storyline but it seriously needs an editor. As somebody well versed in English I kept getting frustrated at the constant switching between tenses and first and third person views.
Burkley, this is a great first book, but I'd recommend that you get an editor to review and clean up the writing. As you continue to do this, it will require less and less "editing".
This book was a lot of fun. The characters were engaging and most of the action was well done. There are a (very) few places where things aren't completely fleshed out. That's a minor quibble though.
The characters are horrible, the MC is a moron. The NPC characters are even worse. The villain is a joke. The game setting is broken, it reads like it was made by someone who has only heard about games and never played one. There is a mish mash of different mechanics lumped together without any rhyme or reason. The interactions are childish. The idea had potential to be funny, but the execution was terrible.
unlikable character, if this book is for teenagers, then it may be OK.
If this is a book for teenage hormonal young boys, 15 and up, then this is a book for you. Most adults will not want to read it. The MC is not likable, too fixated on sex, and not very interesting. The dual nature of the book splitting the action between the MC and another group is most disconcerting. Can’t say that anybody or anything in this book is likable. Read if you like I am done.

Ok, first off, this book is *not* a cultivation story. Perhaps future books in the series will have cultivation aspects, but this book does not. With that said, the lack of cultivation aspects in no way detracts from the story. It's a fairly decent tale, and I fully intend to read more in the series.
I enjoyed this book. It's a mix of post apocalyptic, fantasy, Sci fi, and Lit RPG, with humor and romance thrown in. Well developed characters I could picture as I read it. Looking forward to the next one.
