Oh boy. This was something and it wasn’t great. I know what I’m getting into with these books, ok? The formula is well-worked, some smut, an abduction, a language barrier, we know the deal. This one just was not firing on all cylinders (spaceship joke anyone??)

Firstly, I had a hard time with December. I could not relate to this chick. Sure, we like easy going FMCs. We don’t want them crying and whining and being terrified the whole book. But *some* sort of emotional reaction to any of the ridiculous number of things that happened to this girl would have been welcome. Abducted by a huge alien? Oh well, nothing like a punch in the nose and then some oral to make it all good. Abducted again by a clear villain who SAs you twice before selling you at a slave auction? It’s all good man! We’re just chillin. I love to people watch too! 🥴 don’t get me started on the giant spider with numbing gel, or said villain showing back up, or any of the other things this crazy-short book threw at our FMC. Whatever she’s smoking I want some because she was a-ok with everything.

This was my main gripe with the whole story. It’s like there was zero depth. No emotional depth at all. We don’t feel anything the entire book. The author keeps us at arm’s length, with a layer of removal between us and the characters. Let’s be real, some dark stuff goes on here. But it never feels dark. December barely reacts to being SA’d twice and auctioned as a pleasure slave. Drugged. SA’d by all the possible buyers. Like… nothing. It’s like it’s not happening? Happening to someone else? I’m not sure but we’re in her POV and yet we never feel anything during these moments.

She had no self-preservation instincts at all. The romance was insta-love with no development. We went abduction —> could I like it here? —> I love you and always will. Like… huh? Give us something where they spend time together or talk or…

Ugh. So much else. At least it was short. I still skimmed the second half because I just couldn’t anymore. Stopping here in the series.

Ja'rynn's people stopped producing any female offspring and if they don't find another species to procreate with soon, his people could go extinct. Good thing he followed a signal from Earth and found compatible females. After kidnapping December, she finds herself in the hands of an alien. After getting December's blood and making sure humans would be compatible, he meets with Earth's leaders to make a treaty for human females in exchange Earth will get some technology and compensation for the families of the females.

December wakes up with the huge alien and they're both on his spaceship. He tries talking to her but she doesn't understand him so he shows her a small chip that he indicates she is to place behind her ear. She does and all of the sudden she can understand and talk to him, it's a translator!

Ja'rynn can understand and talk to her cat as well. After December gets the translator chip she can understand her cat, Neko as well. The funny thing is, Neko thinks December is his pet, not the other way around. The cat was so funny.

Ja'rynn realizes after getting December's blood tests back that females from Earth are compatible with his species and he has just saved his people from going extinct. After making a treaty with the leaders of Earth, there are more than enough willing females to be mates for his people. But he only has eyes for December. Now if he can only convince her to stay with him.

When December gets to his planet things seem to be going well until the evil aliens start a war and then all hell breaks loose. December finds herself kidnapped, again! But this time but an evil alien that wants to sell her into slavery. She doesn't think things are going to turn out well for her because she's convinced that Ja'rynn is dead. So she's happy and relieved to see that not only is he alive, but he's come to rescue her. It's a happy ending for her and Ja'rynn but for others, not so much. Some have perished in the attack while others were hurt so bad that they had to be put back together with cyborg parts.

The ending was really good though and we get a glimpse into the next book, which I loved and can't wait to read now.

An Alien Prince for December

This is light hearted sci fi romance. Both characters are sweet and adorable. Her thought processes upon first meeting him,

“Maybe he’s a green alien vampire. An incredibly scary, hot, green alien vampire. He might not be here to hurt me. Could be he’s lost and needs directions. He’s probably more scared of me than I am of him.”

He makes some mistakes in the beginning but he works at making up for them.

He has a couple of fun friends who will hopefully show up in later books. From Khal-Jaek,

“Fathers don’t always tell their children the truth. Especially the fathers of princes.” “Watch your tongue, Luciverian.”
“Or what? You’ll bore me to death with your bureaucracy?”

It's a nice touch that we can understand the cat. And this is a good description of most cats,

“He led her to the door and tripped as he exited into the hall. Neko was lying right in front of the doorway, a perfect trap for anyone not looking down.
“Cat,” Ja’rynn greeted once he righted himself. “You’re a formidable doormat.””

It might have been just a little too light hearted about the MMC losing some family members. Maybe there should have been a little more grief there.

“I don’t know who hurt you in your past. Or why anyone would be idiotic enough to cause you pain. But I tell you the truth — I knew we were meant to be together from the first moment I heard your voice speak to me from across the galaxy. I wasn’t about to let a hundred million light years get in the way. And I’ll cross a hundred million more on my hands and knees if it will convince you that you are worthy of being cherished.”

This alien is so smitten! I picked up this book trying to find the most random Christmas reads, and I was so pleasantly surprised! I loved Niko so much. December made some weird choices, but they all kind of made sense for her character. This one was so jam-packed full of action, loveable side characters, political dynamics, and adventure. It's so great that I already downloaded the next one. I've rated this 4.5 stars rounded up because there were some parts I wanted to be more detailed and the compatibility seemed a bit too easy for aliens. Super fun read though!

December & Ja'rynn

This book was okay. I didn’t mind the plot much. It was pretty typical. Alien gets distress call from earth, human girl just broke up with boyfriend and is upset, human gets abducted, human gets sold to slavers, human rescue mission, miscommunication between alien and human…However I felt like the writing was a little juvenile and just not quite my tastes. Not to mention their first time together lasted I think 30 seconds and was supposedly amazing. I just had a hard time with this one. Like I said, the plot was fine, the execution was just off. Not sure I’ll be reading the rest of these books.

Too formulaic

I really wanted to love this book, the concept was great, the final result not so much. It's like so many other romance novels out there with the built in will they won't they trope. The crisis comes next then giving into the passion...which was sadly lackluster in execution. I felt like the author was just checking off parts of the story without really ever creating the world she could have. And the characters felt flat. I'm going to give the second book a chance and hope the author was able to improve on the foundation because I really think the series does have potential.

December is trying to get her life back on track after heartbreak when Ja’rynn shows up and takes her from Earth. Ja’rynn is formidable, emotionally intense, and completely enthralled by December—even with her punch-first reaction to waking up on his ship.

Even though he abducted December, Ja’rynn still manages to be endearing. His devotion to December is fierce even after personal tragedy. Their journey to their HEA is both thrilling and satisfying.

December’s cat, Nero, steals scenes and hearts alike with his sass and catitude. Definitely adding the next book to my TBR!

I loved everything about this story!!

There doesnt seem to be any hope for December and Prince Ja'rynn as nothing is going as should for either of them.
Depth, great characters, evil villians, terrific storyline, very well written. There was action, danger and tragedies that kept me on edge and turning the pages. A snarky cat whose antics had me laughing. And a swoon worthy and very steamy romance!
This is a must read for any alien romance lovers! I can't wait for January's story!!

I found this book on BookBub, and I thought I would give it a go. I thought it started off really strong, I enjoyed The concept especially with her pet cat Neko. As the book progressed I feel I became a bit “removed” from the story. Whether I stopped connecting with the characters or I feel maybe the plot was taking a little too long to progress, it just ended up falling flat for me, unfortunately.

An Alien Prince for December

December was leaving her old life behind when she is abducted and taken aboard a spacecraft. A voice message that was sent many years ago, he had to find it. Ja'rynn found the source and began to fall in love. Is anything that easy, no. Find out how they find their way together.

Ja'rynn & December

I love the name December for a book heroine! So cool! The attraction between Ja'rynn and December is hot and enjoyable to read. All the troubles they get into make for an interesting introduction of passion and near desperation for their relationship to become real.

I really enjoyed this debut book and am excited to continue the series. Lots of action and rescuing and defeating bad guys! Reminded me a lot of Ruby Dixons Corsair series. If you like adventure with your romance, human sl@ve trade, kidnappings and scary monsters this book is for you!

I really enjoyed reading this book. There was a good plot, and plenty of action to stay interesting. The spice was decent but not amazing, however I did like the chemistry and tension between the characters. I plan on continuing the series.

An Alien Prince for December

A fast-paced read with a happy ending. Well-written and stand-alone. This story is full of adventure and humor. Also, it is noted that males and females have communication issues across the galaxies.

So fun!

This was a quick, fast read. So much fun and sexy too. December and the alien prince are perfect together. I thought it took place in December but it doesn't. Her name is December. The female characters have names that are also months so that's fun. They got me good! Lol

A quick and fun read

This was an easy read. A human female named December was driving on her way to start a new life with her talking cat Neko. What a big surprise waits for her in a tall handsome alien that kidnaps her in the nicest of ways. There is a happy ending. Read On!

Departure from my normal fare, but fun romance nevertheless.

Ja’rynn had fangs and scales … but had very human-like reproductive organs. 🙃

Nice short story to help me more easily add to my Goodreads tally this year.

One star for the spice. One star for having a plot. I won’t be continuing with this series. If you want to read a romance between a human and green alien boning each other, this is for you

simply bad. The plot is a jumble of random things that, for drama, there's no romance, and it's also not smut. ridiculous and not nearly fun enough to finish.
