U ovom romanu autor nastavlja s tradicijom prikazivanja hrvatskih društveno-političkih i povijesnih promjena te njihova utjecaja na svakodnevni život "običnog" čovjeka. Posebnost je romana autorova uporaba heksametra kad prikazuje spjev o mitološkom junaku Pezeju koji je odrubio glavu Gorgoni Meduzi. Osim biografskih elemenata koji se mogu iščitati, autor donosi i priču o Mauriciju Novaku Moru, partizanu unaprijeđenog u dužnosnika Udbe i Ozne čiji život oslikava utjecaj ideologije na pojedinca.

Ivo Brešan

Ivo Brešan was born in Vodice (Croatia) in 1936. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. From 1960 until 1983 he worked as a graduate teacher at the Sibenik Grammar School. Since 1983, he has been the art director of the Šibenik Theatre and the Šibenik Intemationational Children's Festival. Brešan is one of Croatia's most performed contemporary playwrights; he often writes in the Šibenik dialect. He has written several very succesful movies scenarios.
