Till Lindemann is a German singer, songwriter, musician, actor, and poet, best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the band Rammstein.

Born in Leipzig, East Germany, he grew up in Wendisch-Rambow near Schwerin. His father was children's poet Werner Lindemann and his mother, Brigitte "Gitta" Lindemann, was a journalist and writer. His parents lived separately for career reasons after 1975.

Lindemann started to play drums for First Arsch, who released an album titled Saddle Up, and played one song with a punk band called Feeling B (which was the former band of Rammstein members Paul H. Landers, Christoph "Doom" Schneider and Christian "Flake" Lorenz). In the 1990s, he began to write lyrics. In 1994, the trio entered and won a contest in Berlin that allowed them to record a four track demo professionally. Lindemann moved to Berlin.

In November 2002, Lindemann's poetry book Messer was published. It consists of 54 poems compiled by Gert Hof, who is author of the book Rammstein and was the band's pyrodesigner for the last seven years.

For years now I'm a fan of Rammstein and saw them twice life, but his 2 poetry books has been sitting in my bookcase for years, until I've read now one of the 2. This is another side of Till Lindemann. A more sensitive person, who plays with words until he has some beautiful and deeping texts.
Sure, like in the songs, he writes about emotions, taboo themes, his life (childhood and adolescense), but this is more personal, more deepening. Reading his poems is different than listening to the songs. It's more connecting, more intimate.

Till's poetry is always a source of my endless delight. His way of stringing words together is unparalleled and beautiful - an audio-visual magic within a very dark fairytale.

When I was into Rammstein I knew Till Lindemann published this book but since it's in German I never got to buy it then forgot about it. Until recently when there was a release of the same book but in Russian and I was like "oh! Till's poems... is there an English translation?" Sadly there's not an official one but a fan made so I bought the book and read it alongside the English translations.

Poetry is, sadly, a dying literary medium but I've always enjoyed it. Till's poems fall into the grim/dark/surrealist category and has a wide range of emotions (though gravitating around hatred, melancholy, bittersweetness, reject, and lust) and taboo themes (incest, necrophilia, murderous thoughts, violence, paedophilia), also some poems are related to his childhood and adolescence. Knowing what Till writes for Rammstein you will have an idea of what to to expect, but honestly reading it alone is different because it has some intimacy the songs lack.

Till's prose is prone to rhyme and often uses archaic German words which makes translations quite difficult, I wish I knew enough German to fully appreciate his work. The illustrations were a great bonus! they're simple but fit the poems pretty well.

I just really love Till Lindemann and all of his work

Brutal, traurig und surreal. Echt ein schönes Buch. Die Fotografie ist sehr interessant und erhebt das Werk zur Kunst.

The juxtaposition between the images from the poetry and the photography is quite shocking. I found a new Till Lindemann in this book, one that's not that obvious in his music, and I can say that I'm rather fond of him.
