An image-conscious playboy hires a frumpy, shoe-losing, directionally challenged virgin. Let the chaos commence!
Smooth, Playboy, Billionaire.
All labels people apply to me. But the only label I actually care about is Brother.
Everything I do is for them. For the empire we built together. Women are an enjoyable distraction, that’s all.
So why can’t I stop thinking about the frumpy woman who’s taken over my marketing department? She’s constantly getting lost. She loses her shoes, and let’s face it, she’s just weird. I mean, yeah, she’s a brilliant marketer. And ok, my brothers like her. And fine, she has a backbone of steel and stands up to me when i’m being a dick.
But no way am I going to get sucked into a relationship like my brothers have.
I am a woman on the edge.
Ok, fine, not on the edge. But I really have nothing left. So why not pick up and move to a new city, start a new job, and become a totally new person? I’ve never been on an Airplane or outside of New York City, but so what?
People-ing is hard. Harder than I thought. But I’ve gotten sucked into this big, wild family, and I kind of like it. So maybe I can start a new life. Maybe I can cross some things off my Get a New Life list.
But never in a million years did I think I’d do any of them with my boss. But suddenly, there I am, laying on top of him in a crowd of people…Whoops, that came out dirtier than it was in my head.
So what’s a virgin, frump of a woman supposed to do when her sexy boss starts staring, and touching and trying to take care of her? No really…I have no idea what I’m doing. Help!
This, surprisingly, has turned out to be my favorite of the series so far. Yes, I can't believe it either because Zach is the WORST kind of manwhore. He's slept and used women throughout his life and after meeting Maya in person, goes TWO weeks without sex and thinks that's a long time. Blech. I was NOT set up to like him or this book. In the beginning, we even get a nasty on-page (thankfully not explicit) hookup with some rando woman.
So, when I tell you I did not expect to like him or this story with Maya, I did NOT expect to like it.
At first, I stuck around for the brotherly affection... and there is a LOT in this book. Seriously, the family vibes and the male love in this series is what makes it top notch.
Yes, there are some repetitive conversations. The author could use some tips on how to talk about emotions without constantly using the argument "do you think I'm a child who doesn't know how to take care of myself?" because that one up comes up a LOT.
However, this book quickly sucked me in as I saw Zach get sucker punched with his like for Maya and learning that his worth is innate and not because he's perfect. Ugh. There is a scene with Ransom (the "dad" bro in the family) and it got me all in the feels when Zach learns that he's not part of this family by accident... he's special and chosen.
There are plenty of things that make this book not perfect... like Zach being completely gobsmacked by Maya not being neurotypical or needing special treatment for sensitive skin. I mean, I couldn't even believe how callous and ignorant Zach was. It made no sense. His brother, Jonas, has autism and Zach made taking care of Jonas his whole life. When he doesn't understand Maya in the beginning, it made absolutely NO SENSE.
What makes this book special is the interactions among brothers... and Zach does get his head out of his ass and treat Maya like the queen she is. And she gets to learn that her needs are not too much and she can be catered to in a way she never knew.
Safety deets - Zach is a manwhore. A "go out to bars multiple times a week to get 'off' with strangers" type of manwhore that likely doesn't even know any women's name he ever slept with. There is an on-page scene where he goes out to hookup. I skimmed/skipped it so don't believe it was graphic or explicit... but I don't know for sure. - Maya is a virgin. - There is no other women/other men drama. Frankly, I was shocked because I assume that Zach has slept with the single (hopefully) female half of the city by this point, but thankfully, that didn't come to bite him in the rear in the story. Phew. - They are together at the end, but it's more happy for now. We'll get to see them in the rest of the series, but they're not even living together yet by the end. - Consent is generally pretty good... but there's a pretty crap scene where Zach doesn't listen to Maya and she doesn't explicitly tell him that what he's asking isn't okay. She ends up wearing a fancy dress and has a really bad skin reaction after he tells her to "get over herself" and "wear a nice dress for one night". It's one of my least favorite parts of the book because he should know better since he has a sensitive neuroivergent brother.
I’m really enjoying this series. I love these brothers. The found family they’ve created that was exactly what each of these misfit boys needed.
This is a very slow burn story, about two people learning not judge that book by its cover. Maya is probably the oddest character I’ve ever read. She’s a delightful mix of quirky, and extremely capable. She’s so caught up in her own head she doesn’t really pay attention to where she is. Always losing her shoes. Has the worst wardrobe ever seen. She’s very socially and sensory challenged. But when required, she could bite back for what she believes in. She’s the absolute best in her field. Which is why Zach chased her for months wanting to hire her away to work for him. Zach is the typical wealthy playboy. Likes his fine things; clothes, shoes, furnishings, art. Dresses for success and can charm any woman he wants across the room with his well rehearsed smile. He’s the ad man. Promoting all of the brothers varied businesses. When he meets Maya he’s thunder struck. She is not at all what he was expecting. And he’s not sure he can work with her. It was fun watching these two navigate around each other. Seeing the small and large changes to each of them was fun. Learning that there might be more to the story than first thought. I loved both of these characters. My only issue was with Zach. His biological brother Jonas is on the autism spectrum. He’s very used to dealing with his issues and quirks. But had no patience for Mayas. He seemed to be completely indifferent to her needs, looking to make her fit into his neat and tidy world. It’s told in dual points of view. No cheating. It takes some work, but they finally get to a happy place in the end. Jonas’ story is up next. I’m looking forward to it.
You’re telling me he raised an autistic brother but he can’t fathom accepting this woman’s quirks? High-handed insistence on fitting his version of professional dress even when she cleared her preferred dress in the interview? This is a man who is obsessed with a woman… but doesn’t seem to actually like her. A point which she brings up, but is pretty much brushed aside.

Ok so first of all, I love this series so much. I very impatiently wait for each release. I hate the wait so much, I need to devour them all. I know everyone is excited for Ransom’s book …. I am salivating for it too. I’m thinking a single mom to a tonnage boy is my dream for Ransom. Someone who is the head caretaker like him. And they will all help her son. Ok totally off track with my Ransom dreams. I can’t wait, but I am about to go absolutely FERAL for Jonas’s book. I just know it’s gonna be my favorite. I have the date set in my calendar 🗓️. It’s taking too long Jenna, I need Jonas!
Ok back to Zack and Maya. So, Zach is the typical man whore, not really a trope I like but I digress. Then we have Maya a 34 year old virgin….yup. She also have some sensory and what appears to be social issues but is a brilliant advertising recruit that Zach chased and begged for for months. She has some tragedies and employment issues and finally succumbed to Zach’s offer. She is the daughter of a single mom who was a shut in so she has zer people skills. It’s a long road.
I will say this was the absolute longest slow burn I’ve ever read. It’s was excruciatingly long. Like if your looking for spice pick a different book. This is a maybe 1 outta 5 on the spice scale and it’s not till the very very end and is super tame, not closed door but not really 🌶️.
Both of our MC had extremely low self worth and didn’t value themselves. It took so much for them to stop the negative thoughts. They slowly and painfully finally, start making progress.
I need to state on the record I loath Abby. Like I do NoT THINK SHE IS A FRIEND AT ALL. I need her to go.
Anyways, I’m so exhausted as it’s the middle of the night and I just finished. I did have a bit of a hard time staying focused on this installment. It was a lot of inner dialogue and very low action, slow moving plot. But would I recommend it , yes, yes I would. Just be patient.
I wanted the HEA, it’s a HFN. As always the supporting cast was my favorite. This book had me doubled over with laughter several times. Seriously, so many great laughs. But can Jonas come on !?
I enjoyed reading a book from the perspective of someone neurodivergent. very different than anything i’ve read before. I love when there’s some new perspective that I can read from, and knowing that there’s a book and character for everyone to relate to. especially as the heroine/MC.
That being said, the whole book was just very meh to me. I don’t like billionaire romances, it feels very disingenuous to me. this was no exception. there were not really any real stakes in this book. it didn’t make sense how zach flipped so quickly into being in love.
maybe it’s because I haven’t read any of the other books in this series (and have no plans to), but the dynamic between the “found family” just felt weird and awkward. the things that made them laugh made me cringe a bit.
i’m so sick of the word frumpy and I never want to hear it again. zach was so judgmental, and I don’t feel like he ever properly apologized to maya for it. like him saying “yeah your clothes used to be really ugly until I bought you new ones” doesn’t really count. his character “development” was mid to say the least.
could’ve been cute if it felt more real. I feel like the book the fine print is everything this book wanted to be, and just fell short.
I gave it two stars because it's meh and I read the last 40% in fast forward instead of just DNF.
I couldn't relate to either character and like the rest of the series they come off very juvenile. Zach is way too concerned about appearances and Maya - it would have been great if she was just a funky free spirit who messed up his world but instead she was just an odd duck, like she was a cave person thawed out of the ice.
I laughed until I cried and couldn't see straight. The interplay between the main characters was not what I was expecting, and I connected with some of their issues so personally. I love this Brash family
I think my only issue is with Zach's inability to see the similarities between the two most important people in his life, kept getting frustrated with his blindness
If you’ve read one of the Brash Brothers books you’ve kinda read them all. There is a lot of overlap from the other books & the time line is hella fast. But if you like one of the others you’ll probably like this one. It’s an easy read.
Zach! Where do I start? This book is an opposites attract, boss & employee romance, he’s obsessively neat and honestly kind of materialistic and superficial, his appearance is perfect and he works hard to keep it that way. She’s messy, doesn’t care much about her clothing and keeps losing her shoes! Zach hired Maya (who has some quirks!) after headhunting her for a long time, as mentioned in previous books in this series. Maya shows up on day one and Zach seems to immediately regret hiring her, and it seems everything about her bothers him. He considers firing her & tells his brothers. His bio-brother, Jonas, is autistic and takes an instant liking to Maya. Jonas absolutely goes to bat for Maya, convincing Zach to give her 6 weeks before doing anything. Zach eventually comes around and the two fall in love & everything is very sweet. Zach learns some home truths and overall becomes more flexible, less uptight and materialistic (although not entirely! Maya also changes her entire wardrobe among other things about herself). The one thing that really irritated me in this book was that Zach is such a great, understanding brother to Jonas but treats Maya really badly at first - a woman who also exhibits signs of being on the spectrum which are similar to the behaviours of Jonas. Although not confirmed in the book whether she is autistic, the similarities in their behaviours are very similar but Zach treats them completely differently at first. He would never ask Jonas to do some of the things he tries to push Maya to do, and even admits that if someone treated Jonas the way he was treating Maya he would be upset. Zach does come around in the end and also realises that maybe he babies Jonas too much, so his redemption arc is good. Overall, Zach wasn’t my favourite book of the Brash Brothers series but I still really enjoyed it.

These Brash brothers have my whole entire heart! Zach and Maya's story is heartfelt and full of wonder. I loved all the bits of this story. I highlighted so many parts, and there were tons of funny dialogue, Lol. I adore Maya. She is the perfect match for clean cut Zach, and I loved reading how they both came out of their comfort zone and embraced each other. I wish all good things for both of them. The closeness that the Brash brothers have for each other is glaring, and I love that about them. They love each other fiercely and have each other's backs! There were so many great moments in this one... from the frumpy clothes, losing her shoes, and just the way that Zach fell for her was beyond beautiful. 4.5 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 P.S. Now we wait for Jonas and Janey's story, and from the snippets we got from this book, it's going to be huge! I can't wait! June can't get here fast enough!
This book, like the rest of the Brash Brothers series, is perfection. I loved getting to know Zach - we’ve seen him in past books, but only knew him superficially. Maya was quite the surprise! She’s funny, quirky and holds so much in.
I loved seeing them fall for each other - I especially enjoyed the moment where Zach knew that this was something he needed to explore. The way these two opened up to each other and had genuine, deep conversations about insecurities and what they were feeling made me really enjoy this book.
I also really enjoyed watching the growth of Zack’s relationship with Jonas, his biological brother. They had a lot of open and honest conversations in this book that were overdue, and I can’t wait to see the continuation of this relationship in Jonas’s book.
Jenna Myles has created such a beautiful family within this series and it’s always a laugh whenever they get together. We got another hamster scene and all the boys went to an animal shelter a little drunk. Zach made me laugh so much with his lint roller! He’s such a neat freak, and seeing him go to a shelter full of dogs had me in stitches.
If you enjoy found family and billionaire romances, you’ll love this one and this series. It’s part of an interconnected series, and can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading it in order for the best experience.
I liked this book and I love the characters in the series generally but I struggled to picture Maya and at times the descriptions given seemed to conflict! It was hard to understand and picture her in my head. I also don’t love tropes where the guy is so much more attractive and better looking than the female (reality doesn’t show this to be a successful pairing!). It can work where the personality of the female is so engaging it makes sense but Maya didn’t really have much to offer. If I were Zach I’d be getting bored very quickly. I didn’t really understand what he found attractive about her - she was unattractive, awkward, rude at times, difficult and unworldly. I don’t get it!
3.5 stars I appreciate getting a closer look into Zach’s life and learn more about him. I feel like Zach should have recognized Maya’s quirks sooner because he’s been around Jonah his entire life instead of just writing her off as trying to be difficult. Some of the parts between Maya and Jonah were a bit dry. My favorite parts of this book and series is when all the brothers are together and what shenanigans they get up to
Loved it really liked the others but this one had me laughing so much the story is predictable they meet misunderstandings etc fall in love be happy but the humour is amazing
Sometimes you read a book entirely for the MMC, sometimes entirely for the FMC. Sometimes it's the combo of the two of them together. And while Zach and Maya were good together, I read this one mainly for Maya.
"But I would like to have someone. To matter deeply to someone. But in my thirty-four years on this planet, I’ve never had that. I’ve never mattered that way to anyone. Maybe it’s not in the cards for me, but I can admit that I haven’t actually tried. It’s easier to keep to myself and dream about having something more, than to go out and try for it and fail. I can’t stand failing at anything."
In stark contrast to Declan and Cara's story, where I almost DNF'd because of stupid Cara, Maya drew me in immediately. A shy quite woman, who is most certainly on the Autism Spectrum drew my interest right away. While I may not have her quirkiness in entirety, or her ability to almost not give a fuck about what others think of her, I definitely could relate to her self-isolation habits. As a perpetual self-isolationist, who has a habit of talking myself out of doing or going after the things I really want, Maya spoke to me on a deep level. And despite the fact that she was shy, or embarrassed or scared, I appreciated her still showing up and doing the things she wanted to do. We could all use a bit more of courage like that in our lives.
And while Zach may not end up being my favorite of the Brash men (still Micah of those I have read, but I know Jonas will topple Micah...and Ransom might topple Jonas...although I think that's unlikely), I still felt his story arch was good. From his constant worry for Jonas, to his need to feel put together all the time, his story and his trauma made sense within his character. I do think he was a bit of an asshole to begin with - not just to Maya, but in general. But I also think that enabled us to really see his growth throughout the book.
I definitely really liked Zach and Maya, but I literally cannot contain my excitement for Jonas and Janey! Jonas is just such a sweet baby angel, and Janey is too and I just know it's going to be so good between them!
3.5/5...but this one gets a round up to 4...unlike Kade and Becca. There was just something about Maya that I absolutely adored.
CW: playboy, virgin, child abuse, attack on side character, agoraphobia (historic), death of parents (historical)
Zach is a man whore, he sleeps with a different woman every time he goes out to the club, because loving someone would mean adding another person to his list of people he has to watch out for and worry about. He already worries enough about his autistic younger brother, Jonas, who he was essentially responsible for since their parents passed in a car crash.
Maya is the eccentric (potentially autistic) marketing genius Zach finally manages to hire after her life in New York falls apart. Maya grew up with an agoraphobic mother who never left the house. She grew up with chauffeurs and shrunk herself to fit into the tiny box her mother needed her in. She has no friends, her only family was her dog who just passed away, and the job she was happy at just changed owners, and the new boss is not willing to work with her eccentricities.
Although this book had as many laugh-out-loud moments as the previous four, Zach frustrated me to no end. Although he's grown up with an autistic brother, he gets frustrated at Maya's ability to lose her shoes, need for indirect lighting and pure cotton, and her ugly clothing. He does eventually pull his head out of his ass and figure his shit out, but he just refuses to listen when she tries to tell him things, which results in some serious issues.
He also tries to get her fired her very first week on the new job, even though she literally told them what she needed during her interview. If you don't have a dress code, after the potential employee made sure that there wasn't one, and you know your own brothers wear clothing for comfort in the office rather than for looks, then why would you suddenly have an issue with the genius you headhunted wearing clothing that work for her? In my opinion, Zach was entirely too focused on appearance, his own and Maya's, and not nearly enough on the value of the person.
Not my favorite book in this series for the reasons I mentioned. I'm glad Zach finally got his act together and started acting like he actually cared about Maya. But this pairing was a little odd.
Probably my least favourite brash brother's book and least favourite FMC I think. I was going to skip this one, but I really enjoyed the family dynamics and the chaos, so it was an obligatory read. And it really did feel like an in-between book of sorts. Like there wasnt much plot or anything going on?
I understand the sensory overload and being overwhelmed perfectly, which is probably why this story rattled me. It was as if all my problems were laid out and perfectly described in front of me. This is why I love this writer, she gets it.
But it was still a little hard to swallow, as the FMC was a bit too scatterbrained for my liking. I felt my own anxiety and anxiousness flare up every time I read about her losing her shoes or being horrible distracted by something. It stressed me out a little ngl.
I feel guilty also, because the FMC feels and knows she's a bit of a difficult, weird person, and I'd try my best IRL to accommodate such a person, but I guess some people just have better patience than others. But some people are just mean? Like the saleslady who didn't believe the FMC was sensitive and allergic to certain fabrics.
Maybe thats why she's perfect for Zach, who's feeling a little lost now that Jonas is grown up and can handle himself. I hate saying this, but the FMC felt a touch like a project to Zach? To make him feel needed and important? The spice also felt somewhat awkward...idk, it felt like these two were kinda forced together-- like of course Zach falls for the first woman who ignores him. Haha classic innit?
But i thought it was strange cuz as another reviewer said, Zach raised an autistic brother, yet Maya's quirks are completely foreign to him? I'm not autistic, and barely know a few people but it was obvious from the get-go.
Still, it was an interesting read and well written and funny as usual.
Maya, Maya, Maya This book was hysterical. OMG you have Zach playboy extraordinaire, Mr. Perfectionist surrounds himself in luxury and his appearance is top priority. For months he has been trying to get M. Miller to respond to him regarding a position with Brash Marketing. Zach is not used to being blown off. When he finds out M. Miller is actually Maya Miller he goes all out trying to get her to respond. LOL yeah sending flowers, makeup baskets, candy doesn't do it for Maya. When Maya finally responds and is interviewed during a video conference something about her sticks with Zach. First day on the job and meeting her in person Zach is flabbergasted to say the least. She shows up in what he calls a frumpy dress and sometime during the day ditches her shoes and loses them. Needless to say this is driving Zach crazy. He's sorry he hired her. BUT that being said she is the best in Marketing. As the story of these two progresses I swear you will be laughing your butt off. I laughed so hard I had tears. Super super cute read. The funny thing is Zach is so head over heels for her and she's not his usual type. He's never been in a relationship, Maya is skittish at best never having a social life and never being with a man. These two are just so cute. Zach wanting to protect and give Maya everything but Maya not so excepting. You just have to read their story. You seriously will fall in love with these two. Now I did not like her friend Abby. I felt she was a nay sayer/trouble maker and thought she should have just kept her negativity to herself. Yeah she got dumped but don't throw her negativity on her friend. Okay now onto Jonas's story and I can't wait to see what happens.
I like Jenna Myles’ books. I love an overprotective male who just wants to protect and care for his partner but also understands when she needs her space and can do things on her own.
And I like that this looked different for every couple. (Colt had to learn how to tone it way back and Evie had to learn to accept it way more. Declan already knew how capable Cara was and Cara had to learn that it all wasn’t on her anymore. Ransom actually taught her she was family more than anyone.)
And I like that her women are all smart and strong and even the ones who have been through some shit are learning. (And I like that they’re learning in healthy ways. Holly went through some. Shit. And Micah wasn’t a cure all. That girl went to therapy.)
But while I like her books I just need more diversity in their stories. They’re ALL caretakers who find strong but broken women.
Also…. It annoys me so much when there’s never a talk about contraception. Zach was a man whore but never once did Maya ask him if he was clean before they had unprotected sex? And Maya was a recluse virgin but it never occurred to Zach to ask her if she was on birth control? Like I cannot understand why these conversations don’t come up in books anymore and it drives me crazy.
So, ok, maybe it’s this specific thing that annoyed me enough to drop some stars. Because otherwise, I actually really liked their story. I like that Zach actually had more/bigger issues than Maya. I like that Maya is clearly on the spectrum and that she gets along so well with others, despite seeming to think she doesn’t. I like how easily her and Jonas get along and not necessarily because they’re both on the spectrum but because Maya is important to Zach and Jonas is also important to Zach and so that makes both of them want to be important to each other.
I adore Maya. I see a lot of her in myself. She quirky, a bit of a mess, frustrating and totally loveable. Perfect for the unflappable, sophisticated Zach. They are the epitome of opposites attract. And boy do they fight it. Almost to the point I wish I could have reached through the pages and shook them both. but I understood their reluctance. each of them is completely not what the other expected, ever to find in a partner for life. And oh was it fun to watch them squirm and figure it out. And her running commentary in her chapters is a hoot, especially during their intimate moments. I think Maya and Zach do the most growth out of all the Brash family.
Jonas is up next. I am not sure if I am ready for his story. He is such a favorite and I hole him carefully in my heart. I don't want him hurt. I hope sweet Janey is good to him.
I'm figuring out when women pop up in these books it usually means she's going to be attached to a brother soon. I figure Bree is for Nick and possibly Abby (who is annoying but maybe I can learn to like. I just did not like how she steered Maya wrong and treated Zach badly at first) is for John (joker) set to be released from prison. Perhaps we will learn more about them in Jonas' book since there hasn't been much on any of them. Maverick and Random are still pretty mysterious and no women yet slated for them although a mention in by Cara awhile ago about a female contractor has my senses tuning in that she may be the one for Ransom. Will be fun to see if I am right...
